Well since the items here are very simple and not many variations i would say each item = +/- 8 bytes. 
To reach 1mb HD space you would need 125 000 items.

Probably more than that. More like 1kb at least due to encryption algorithms so complicated that I couldn't begin to explain it to someone like you

My guess is a couple TB's could store all data for MP.

Probably buy that server space still costs money. Having an inventory cap limits how much server space you need.
