Hey all,

So forgive my newbishness.  A friend of mine and I started playing last night on PC.  From reading some other posts I gather there is some form of VOIP for this game?  If so, how is it accessed? We were completely incapable of communicating with our team members the entire time we played.  We MUST be missing something.  Any info on a txt chat option or VOIP option in multiplayer for PC would be greatly appreciated.

I believe they recently added a "Push to Talk" function. Could that explain the problem?

Maybe.  I will have a closer look at the options.

So to be clear, you are saying there is VOIP for the PC version of DAI?  No text chat, however, correct?

There is voice chat. Not much in the line of customizing appearance. Each class has 3 choices on armor. Two of those choices have four color variations

LOL, we wish. There are a few choices for outfits u can unlock, but likely it will take some mods to fix appearances and thats something for the future.

Voip is available, im speculating here but 90% of people don't have mic or don't use it. 2-3 games out of like 20 games will have someone talk. some people you can hear them breath.... but never hear one word from them.

4Eldial: Exactly, its super creepy :D, sometimes they have mic NEAR their reproductors, and you hear yourself talking....

Well it was WAY worse before they set push-to-talk default option (you can switch it to voice rocognion). I didnt know the V key for mute for long time and hearing some french/russian guys talking loudly over skyper was during a game was...

DA:I is definitely voice-chat compatible.

If the addition of "push to talk" isn't responsible, another possibility is that you and your friend are experiencing an oddity related to NAT settings. This used to happen to me occasionally when playing on PSN, or rarely, on XBL. It will allow the players to connect, but they will not be able to hear each other. Even the microphone symbol will be shaded, suggesting the other person doesn't have a microphone connected, even if they do.

If that does turn out to be the issue, the solution on PC would be to change the router's NAT settings. If you don't have any experience doing that, you may want to consult with someone for advice before proceeding. There are also ports that can be opened that could help, but I'd get some advice about that before doing anything, too.

Also while I am here asking stupid questions.

No, unfortunately. Other than a handful of armour sets and a few armour colour options, there aren't any customization options for MP characters. According to BioWare, there won't be in the future, either.
