Hello all new people and welcome,

When wandering out into the wilds, you may occasionally need to tend to something in the real world. Annoying, I know, but it happens.

If you need to go AFK for any reason, do not leave your party simply standing still in the "real-time" world.  (You should save first, of course....)  Open a menu that pauses the game, such as the Inventory, or the Character Record.  This includes tabbing out for any reason, like looking up an item on a wiki. Or coming here to the forums.

The reason for this is that small mini-events can fire amongst your party.  It isn't constant, and there are some inconsistencies that will hopefully get fixed that are discussed elsewhere so there's no need to bring that up here /steelyglare, but you may miss them if you leave your folks alone with the clock running.

They fire randomly, and for the most part, never repeat.  So if you went to go change the laundry or get a drink, you may have missed a one-time deal and never known it.  And if you're not here for listening to Varric needle Cassandra, really, why are you?

If you've not had much experience with DA before, this may not be obvious, especially if you "idle" in MMOs without thinking about it.  Just a word of caution for those new to the experience.

On a PC, you can also just hit the left CTRL key, which will also pause the game while you're away.

There are some new dialogue options that unlock only if certain companions have key banter.  It only really matters if you're into that kind of thing, but if you are, it's really nicely done and you wouldn't want to miss it.
