Leliana was way too radical for me. I thought Cassandra's outcome to be the absolute best option, though I don't like that she had to join the clergy to truly make a difference.

A softened Leliana is the way things should be.

Why does the world have to be divided into classes, minorities and less accepted?

Tell me one good reason - and thereby ask your self what mirror you're looking at?

Too radical? Nah, the Chantry needs a good kick in the teeth.

Too sexy? Hmmmm....probably.

because it is ridiculous given the nature of the setting

Applying a modern 21st century view on race and rights and religion to a fantasy world based predominantly on Medieval Europe is ridiculous

I spit out my Mountain Dew. Well done, but don't do it again.

Unhardened Leilana is the only choice for me. Cassandra rebuilds the seekers, and hopefully Viv has some irrelevant position somewhere that has a fierce hatred of all things from Orlais.

Sure, no naivete in enacting THE EXACT SAME SYSTEM AS TEVINTER

I didn't want to get involved here, but you know that Tevinter system is explicitly based on Circles, right?

I could give you many. I could speak of a people's need for independence, could use the elves as an example or simply talk about the dangers of mages.

Instead, I will simply say that just because you believe things should be one way, does not mean they are or will ever be.

An ending that tries to tell us Leliana said such nice words that everyone forgot all grievances and prejudices and became friends is as out of place in a dark fantasy setting as The Broodmother would be in "How to train your dragon"

Actually, Red Lyrum Toothless would be pretty badass.

It depends on who you ask. According to some people you just brought doom and gloom upon Thedas. Because you know, it's totally impossible that in future games the plot will be shaped so if the Divine has to mess up it means all 3 Divines will have messed up, because, "Divine Victoria".

All the cynicism warms my heart really. Meanwhile I will enjoy Morrigan's emphasis upon "Mirrrraccculously, her words took root." in epilogue slides. *Takes a sip*

Hardened Leliana is my personal preference. I always favored mage freedom, and she achieves it without being too Disney.

You champion freedom, yet have no problem with Hardened Leliana essentially turning Southern Thedas into a brutal police state of her own ruling?

Leliana as Divine (personality irrelevant) is just lulz material, IMO.

Don't know what you are talking about, my playthrough with Lel as Divine has her doing nothing and the Chantry tearing itself apart. :P

You must have missed her personal quest. For softened Leliana, she calls for the leaders and urges unity, and it works (for now).

I didn't say I have no problem with how she is deals with it. I just said I find it more believable. Like others said, she has to fight years of chantry doctrine, that doesn't just go away with pretty words. If you read a bit more you will also see that her becoming to ruthless and imposing is my biggest problem with her (although I might have worded that part a bit poorly). In the end I think that all candidates for the divine have pros and cons, and is all a matter of personal opinion. If there was a perfect candidate there wouldn't be all these flame wars on BSN.

Indeed. I can only hope to see the butthurt if Leliana's rule not only doesn't backfire but winds up being the best.

I find it funny when people bring up the fact that this is like medieval europe yet have no problems with homosexuality generally being accepted when homosexuals weren't treated well back then.

Its one thing to eliminate a prejudice from existing all together in a fantasy world, its quite another to take a prejudice that is every bit as vitriolic as homosexuality in Medieval times, and wave it away with words

What exactly is your source that Leliana turns Southern Thedas into a "brutal police state"? Because the epilogue doesn't say anything like that.

Especially considering how much he keepts building it up, guy mentions how much he's eager to see the butthurt like at least once a day..... It's like his catchphrase or something, except not catchy and very awful.

Hardened Leliana tends to resolve problems with dagger. Hardened Divine Victoria tends to resolve big problems with lots of daggers.

It can be safely assumed that opposing Leliana and expressing dissatisfaction at her reign are not generally advised.
