The Deep Roads was my absolute least favorite part of Origins, by a wide margin. My favorite part, genuinely, was Broken Circle. Yes, even the Fade sequence.

I... seem to be in the minority. :D

I could watch a sequence like this of my chosen party following a non-playable character guide, in the Deep Roads all day. It'd be cool to have the occasional conversation between companions, where they quietly whisper to themselves. Traversing the Deep Roads quietly, with the intent on finding something - maybe an old god or an ancient relic. If someone makes a loud noise everyone spinsarrow-10x10.png around to look, or shushes them.

Heck, BioWare should give us at least a small sequence like this. We had something similar in Origins, with finding the bulk of the darkspawn horde down below, and the archdemon commanding it.

Just imagine a group shot like in "Fellowship of the Ring". You know the one, the one right after Rivendell where they climb a hill one by one while epic music plays in the background. First would be the Warden, then Leliana followed by Oghren, Wynne, Zevran, Morrigan, Alistair, Sten and Shale.

With this engine the Deep Roads could be beautiful. Of course this requires us to be in the Deep Roads instead of caves next to them which Bioware was completely obsessed with in DAO and why I disliked the segment.

I want to drive a buggy through the Deep Roads while fighting off random attacks by antlions shrieks and headcrab zombies hurlocks. For a change of pace, every so often we might get to clear Combine Vint checkpoints.

AND THEN WE GET TO AN ANCIENT WARDEN PRISON THAT'S COMPLETELY DECAYING AS CORYPHEUS-CONTROLLED GUARDS AND PRISONERS AND DARKSPAWN FIGHT A THREE-WAY RUNNING BATTLE THROUGH THE COMPLEX WITH RED LYRIUM RANDOMLY POKING UP EVERYWHERE AND A LAST-SECOND ESCAPE BY ELUVIAN JUST AS RED TEMPLAR SHOCK TROOPS STORM INTO THE ROOM THAT BRINGS US BACK INTO VAL ROYEAUX JUST AS THE UNITED ORLESIAN ARMY MAKES A LAST PUSH TO TRY TO RETAKE THE WHITE SPIRE FROM CORYPHEUS'S TROOPS AND END THE WAR

Or better yet, have various members of DA replace all the characters in LOTR...

Like, Corypheus as Sauron, Oghren as Gimli, Zevran as Legolas, Alistair as Aragorn, etc. The only problem would be casting the hobbits. Maybe make Worthy Pippin, LOL.

I kept waiting to go into the Deep Roads proper in Inquisition and was actually pretty disappointed that we never did. I actually really liked how dark the caves were in Inquisition and how you often had to light torches to see anything. Add in how nice some of the caves looked and I think some proper Deep Roads action could be really amazing visually and in terms of atmosphere with Frostbite.

Of course, BioWare would have to fix how broken the Tactical View is whenever it has to go indoors if they were to do a long indoor section like the Deep Roads, or a proper Dwarven city.

While the Deep Roads look awesome, exploring them is too much of a pain in the butt because there are just too many enemies that get in the way of my exploring.

In fact I think that most RPGs would be well served by reducing the number of enemy npcs.

They have to go down into the Deep Roads again to resolve the big questions surrounding red lyrium.

YES ! I also want the Deep Roads to be creepy and scary as well. Low light, ominous noises, unearthly lyrium glow, etc

I still remember my utter disappointment in DA2 when I finally got the 50g together and set off for the EPIC Deep Roads!

15 minutes later I was back out!  I thought surely that can't be IT?  can it?

It was. :(

Not a huge fan of the Deep Roads. Hespith's song still creeps me out just thinking about it. So unless the story logically calls for it, I'm quite ok with not going down there again.

They have to go down into the Deep Roads again to resolve the big questions surrounding red lyrium.

Except for the fact that there has only ever been one single piece of red lyrium ever found in the Deep Roads.

So good luck with that.

Well, Bianca apparently found veins of the stuff, and gave the location of the thaig to Coryphyspit.

Also, how is it that red lyrium is so prevalent in Inquisition, if that one piece wasn't the primary source of it all?

As much as I love the Deep Roads, I must admit I felt Claustrophobic every time I went there. But I hate Valammar. So devoid of life. In the early trailers, it was like a kingdom. I wonder why it was scrapped.

Don't tell me doing this with your own characters isn't awesome.

Well **** now that you've made that connection, a Deep Roads DLC became much more palatable. Do want.

Although if there isn't a "you shall not pass" scene I will instantly uninstall DAI.
