The Inquisitor can be a heartless thief sometimes, do you play them that way?

Proof (from the Hinterlands, there are more examples):

  • Help the eleven woman retrieve her dead husband's ring?
Great. How about looting her chest from the back of her house while you're about it.
  • Clear demons from the Redcliffe Chantry?
Fantastic, but you can't help stealing from the poor box can you?
  • Ask Master Dennet for his horses, asking him to leave his family?
Why not steal his prized bottle of wine while you're about it.
Oh, and while you're stealing from him, come back later and break into
his securely locked farm house to steal more of his valuables.

What a heartless thief !

(ok, I've done all of the above, but my role playing brain was going 'are you really doing this?!'

I guess there are more examples of the kleptomaniac Inquisitor...

Don't forget the coins you can snatch from an offering stand at the Crestwood's crossroads.

As yes, I'd forgotten about grave robbing and desecrating offerings to the deceased...  ;)

Leliana and Josephine must be doing a really good job of sweeping all this under the rag.

So we can add conspiracy and corruption?
Excellent traits for a possible future Divine...

When I did that, I thought it would give me a codex entry on the crossroads. When I took the gold, I thought "Oh, ****! I didn't mean to do that!"

Inky's conscience tried to stop her from looting everything she could. Sera asked it to say, "what?"

Whenever I do some of those things is the fact that they can just stand next to the quizie and watch. That's when I think "No wonder the world is on the brink of destruction, considering how 95% of the population is retarded"

I don't think it's stealing, that's just how commoners attract heroes when they need some righteous questing. Spread some coins around and leave some improbable weaponry and a few torn trousers in an old crate and they'll come scratching around like particularly stupid pigeons. Once they've arrived you can ask them to find that trinket you misplaced last week.

no, it's more like a pay for those errands they send me on.

"so.. about that ring i found. is it, you know, valuable?"

"just look around, i'm certain you'll find some reward... thing"

it's much more fun than RPing evil mastermind "oh, look, i stole a spoon! i'm sure those brainless peasants learned their lesson! mwahahaha!'

I take everything that isn't nailed down. Then I get a hammer and take the rest. I'm so ashamed.

Nope.

I need those browny points to romance Sera.

Besides, thieving isn't as fun as being an arsehole during judgments.

Same here. I can't help it, if it's something I can loot... then I loot. I try to justify it with the fact that no one is complaining.

Well, somehow I really like Skyrim's approach to things like this: looting from people's house & possessions is considered as stealing & break laws, lock picking too.

but my role playing brain was going 'are you really doing this?!'

It was the first time I was in Exalted Plains,  and I had just gotten the quest to clear out the demons at the ancient elven graveyard.

I killed the demons and the quest indicated that I should return. I saw an urn or something, smashed it, and found a key fragment.

Then one by one I started digging out the graves, while the back of my mind was like "Holy **** you're graverobbing".

After I had thoroughly desecrated everything, I returned to the Keeper only to have him chastise me for disrespecting the dead.

I was like.... "Well... ****... I knew that..."

Gameplay and story, segregated?  What you suggest is madness, and I will have no part in it.

In my opinion it is allowed, to a certain degree, looting like a mofo in a game like this? for sure.

Yep.

No regrets.... she really wanted to know what was in that 10000 gold mystery box and the advisers suck at making money so...steal all the things.

Coming from someone who always plays an assassin type character in elder scrolls & fallout I fail to see what is wrong with taking what is rightfully mine.

I mean, I wouldn't really be a rogue if I didn't, now would I?

But I do love how you can loot at the most awkward times.

Emotional side quest:

"Please! My wife is sick, go get my son to make her a potion!"

*Inquisitor loots your chest*

Fighting a battle:

"Inquisitor, a little help, we're being overrun!"

*Inquisitor loots dead Nug*
