That thing looks way to deadly to be Australian, Besides Drop Bears and Salt Water Crocodiles most of our extremely dangerous wildlife actually tricks you into complacency by looking cute. Heck look at that creatures Australian counterpart

But if it truely does belong here, idk what to tell you. Maybe it was irradicated from here by one of the numerous more dangerous creatures but one specimen managed to survive in the ship of a british explorer or something
I think Merill is adorable, and I think there is a place for the research she's doing and maybe even blood magic.
I just don't think she's the one that should be do it, mainly because like Solas (and Viv, for that matter), she has that fatal flaw of pride. While I don't really like any of the rivalmance paths (Isabella's, actually, is fine, but with Anders, Fenris, and Merrill I feel Hawke (especially an agressive one) can come off as almost emotionally abusive), if I'm not romancing her, I go rivalry with Merrill.
Having said all this, I think Solas is the 'Merrill' of DA:I, in terms of outlook towards spirits and demons. I mean, hey, buddy was willing to deal with crazy dark spawn magister. He's quite open in his views towards everyone (while constantly thinking himself superior to everyone at least until you become very close friends), though that one certainly bit him in the arse.
"Excuses because I'm high on that Merrill swag. " Only you would call obvious absentmindedness dry humor.
Remember when Finn picked up pieces of the same mirror and didn't get Tainted? He must have cleansed it too!
And when Teagan dueled a hurlock and had blood spew into his mouth? He must be a Grey Warden! When has the Blight ever mattered outside of a plot device?
You must not have played the same game as me. She clearly approves of working with demons and using the Fell Grimoire and the associated tomes. All of which require deals to use. Demons always require deals. That's why they're demons.
No it really doesn't. Especially with tons of evidence to the contrary. Sandal's a wise with runes, but I won't be giving him any grants for his intellect.
