Kitari = worse class in the game.  Much like BioWares Krogans in ME3MP.  An up close must bash class with some of the worse defensive mechanisms in the game.

I won't let you guys pull the mighty and merry Krogan warriors into the muck and mock them.  A mere head on the wall is no indication whatsoever that it is a trophy. In fact it is rather a relic! A relic of a mighty warrior who dropped from the sky and battled the Dragon.

The Krogan battled the Dragon with bare hands, feet and teeth, knowing well that on this planet, stranded alone, against a population so deeply rooted in barbaric superstitious beliefs it'd be better dieing in a glorious fight than having to explain his whereabouts in front of a pretender Inquisitor "court".

 

And having his omni-tool chewed up for good by the Dragon would be better anyway so the rock throwers on this planet couldn't goof around with tech they were not ready for.

Yeah, i kinda wish Bioware abort DAMP, and put the resources towards a PS4/XBone ME3MP version.  Don't even HD-ify it, just make it work, and pull our old manifests thru.

I think all the people who think "Katari sucks, he takes too much damage" just have no idea how to play him.

Just because he's a big warrior, doesn't mean you play him like you play every other 2H warrior from whatever game you played before.

It's all about avoiding damage as much as possible, and one shot killing multiple mobs at once. If you are standing still, auto attacking, you're doing it wrong.

I run Charge, Mighty Blow, Combat Roll, and Block & Slash right now, but may try out Pommel Strike.

My weapon right now is a Rare Maul named "Sundering". It has 299dps with a 25 Lightning Rune on it.

Don't be first to pull agro. You don't want every archer honed in on you.

Line up 2-3 (or more) enemies, Charge them. Knock them down.

The passive Coupe de Grace deals additional damage to knocked down targets.

Use Mighty Blow to one shot kill as many knocked down mobs at once. Use an auto attack to finish off a mob if necessary/optimal.

As soon as it looks like you're about to take damage, Combat Roll the hell out of there.

Duck around a corner, wait for Charge come up, then knock some more enemies down. Right now, my Charge is hitting enemies for about 500ish damage right now, and crits about 1000, so it's a pretty nice move to use for pure Offense. Charging into frozen or paralyzed mobs sets off a combo.


With the Katari, you have to be very aware of your surroundings, aware of where archers are, etc. It's a lot like an Assassin in that positioning and timing is key.

Played correct though, he can more than pull his weight. He won't win an all out DPS race against an Archer or Elementalist, but he's certainly not "useless" as many claim.

Really looking forward to getting some HoK rings so I can be a little less conservative

BS! I certainly will! Especially if there's AW Pull or Keeper Static Cage around. Soooo many things die so fast around my Katari... I might even stream or make a video. Maybe.

Very true. Katari has amazing synergy with Pull of the Abyss and/or Static Cage....1 shot 5+ mobs at once? Yes please

I was more referring to a Katari standing alone, the average Katarine wouldn't out DPS the average Archer/Ele....not saying it can't be done though. I'm very much a believer

Well put.  That is how I learned to play Katari also, to great effect.  Heck, I pulled a close 2nd place in a Threatening match recently with a level 1 Katari, by playing pretty much as you have outlined here.

Bioware still doesn't know how to balance melee/difficulty. They also still seem to think we enjoy the stunlock mechanic.

They don't need to balance because warriors are fine the way they are. The people complaining are simply newer to the class or just don't synergize with the playstyle of these warriors. 2H warriors have some of the highest DPS ingame.
