Because I have no empathy for other human beings and I just want the game to be the way I want? Astonishing isn't it? People who think about themselves is NOT just a fantasy thing Bioware created, I know, shocking, truth usually is

Curse them, curse the game, complain, whine, and so on...

Cynicism is very strong on you. Sigh, some people cannot face facts that this game is successful enough.

Be happy for Bioware why? I want the company to cease to exist

Then I take infinite pleasure in knowing you are farther from your desire than you ever have been.

I'm more surprised about the fact that someone can be so selfish and self-centered, my lack of faith in humanity has been restored!  :wizard:

This is so funny though, have fun wasting your time and then wishing you did something actually productive when on your death bed.  :)

You've never seen the Digiexpo 2013 - Dragon Age: Inquisition Gameplay video did you?

I'm confused. What does that have to do with what you bolded?

I've seen people saying DAI would doom DA franchise but now they seem to have change the subject. I feel tired just by watching them.

As a Canadian myself, I'm very happy for Bioware! ... This game is a flawed masterpiece. I'm really glad the DA franchise is getting the credit it deserves. Hopefully this doesn't get you complacent, but to inspire you to make your games even better. Bravo!

I'm surprised, considering NPD and other charts. I guess the digital sales were very high

Nice to see it did well, my fears there wouldn't be any DLC after reading these forums are somewhat lessened now lol, got about 15 play throughs done before i moved onto The Crew an always felt it was a good vanilla experience that hopefully some DLC an patches will/would enhance for me so rubbing the old hands in anticipation of some news on that front now.

Few things in the game annoy me but i expect that with new releases tbh.

Will be waiting eagerly for some more content ;)

DA4 will feature the same concept then. A beautiful world to explore with meaningless content.

I'm afraid of that as well. Something I noticed while playing SWtOR recently is that the planets added with expansions have a main questline but no sidequests of any depth just like DA:I. They only have dailies which are the same as the fetch quests and are just a text window opened up upon talking to an NPC where you can accept or not and then go kill 5___ or scan 3 ___, etc...the original game had long and interesting side questlines on almost every planet and even the short sidequests had cutscenes, dialogue options, and often multiple resolutions. Based on DA:I, ME3, and SWtOR's expansions, eavesdropping/note/fetch quests seem to be the future of BioWare side content :(

No I am not, my desire is self giving me pleasure. I have no desire of anything actually happening, all my pleasure lies in hating. Bioware gave me the opportunity to hate with such an intensity it is guaranteed orgasm for me each and every single day.

I'm more surprised about the fact that someone can be so selfish and self-centered, my lack of faith in humanity has been restored!  :wizard:

See, you miss the point of being selfish. My actions are for me alone, god forbid me doing something productive, my pleasure is myself and everything I do (since I only do what I want to). It is a win-win situation. Only ****** people care about doing something productive, I care about enjoying myself, and myself alone.

The fact remains Inquisition has received far less rage than what DA2 got and you are just angry and bitter that it is successful and you get off on ruining other people's fun...the people who are enjoying the game.

I think DAI is amazingly superior to DA2. Obviously they tried

What bothers me is the console port we PC players got when they said plenty of time this game was aimed for PC. Basically that Origins fans were going to climax when playing it.

So am I, truth be told.

I'm a little confused why people seem to be reading that one line and stopping.

Did anyone listen to the earnings release call, when an analyst specifically asked about the NPD numbers indicating low sales? I've never seen such bad tap dancing that didn't involve four year old girls in tutus. EA doesn't have a history of obscuring the sales numbers for their blockbuster games.

"Biggest launch in Bioware history."

Let me list off the number of ways I can make that statement true without it translating to anything to do with sales.

1) Most platforms released on - DA:I was released one four consoles and PC... BIGGEST BIOWARE LAUNCH EVER
2) Most console digital downloads - next gen consoles now allow more console digital downloads than any prior BW game... BIGGEST BIOWARE LAUNCH EVER
3) Most GOTY awards - DA:I captured more professional review site GOTY awards than any other Bioware game... BIGGEST BIOWARE LAUNCH EVER
4) Social media coverage - DA:I had more positive Tweets, Reddit and Tumblr posts than any other prior BW game... BIGGEST BIOWARE LAUNCH EVER
5) Pre-orders - DA:I had more pre-orders than any other BW game... BIGGEST BIOWARE LAUNCH EVER
6) First Week - DA:I had more sales in the first week than any other BW game... BIGGEST BIOWARE LAUNCH EVER
7) International - DA:I was released in more countries than any other BW game... BIGGEST BIOWARE LAUNCH EVER
8) Collectors Edition - DA:I sold more Collector's Editions than any other BW game... BIGGESR BIOWARE LAUNCH EVER
9) Hours Played - DA:I had the most hours played in the first week for any BW game... BIGGEST BIOWARE LAUNCH EVER
10) Dragons Killed - Players killed more dragons total than any other BW game... BIGGEST BIOWARE LAUNCH EVER

It is such a complete lack of specificity that it defies being to any value. EA didn't even make the effort of folding units sold for DA:I into other titles in the quarter - they flat out omitted if, said nothing but Hours Played and GOTY awards.

There's nothing to congratulate Bioware on here. And nothing to alleviate any of the concerns from the NPD numbers.

Yes, yes, you are very much outside of the norm and the expected. I stand in awe of your rejection of societal conventions.
There, attention given. You can stop posting about your orgasms, thank you very much.

Or a publicly traded company didn't reveal any sales numbers and has a huge vested interest in saying fluff, totally vague statements that don't correspond to any sort of evidence that all other sources indicate poor performance...? That's just, you know, me spitballing.

So Fast Jimmy ... you believe EA is posturing about the success of Dragon Age? And is there evidence beyond speculation that sales are under-performing?

I will say that when number are big companies always come out and specify how many they have sold. Usually when people are vague there isn't much to brag about but when it comes to games this industry really tries to be secretive about sales (unless they are brag worthy of course) ...

I hope DA:I is doing great but I'm still getting a weird vibe similar to the post release of Kingdoms of Amalur.

EA didn't provide exact sales figures for any of their titles; Madden, FIFA, Battlefield, etc.

First of all, it is unlikely that a large and established publicly traded company like EA would try to drive up its stock price with hot air. There is no incentive to do that. Companies tend to paint their earnings in a slightly more positive light than they are in reality. But this is just a little bit of embellishment. Actual misleading and encouraging the share price up with fluffy statements would come back to bite them twice as hard. Especially when that particular "fluff" refers to the past (that is, already happened sales of DAI) instead of the future (for example, the potential of a new game).

Also there's this in the earnings statement: "Outperformance versus our outlook was driven by the record-breaking Dragon Age: Inquisition performance."

The outperformance here refers to the gross margin of EA, which was 72,8%, more than their guidance of 70,5%. That is, EA did better than they expected during their Q3 mostly because DAI was more profitable than EA predicted. That is unambiguous way to say that DAI has not only been a brand-polishing success for EA, but also a financial success.

I like the game and setting and want expansions, DLCs and sequels. Thus, I am very happy it is doing well.
However, I also think there are serious design flaws and fear they will become the norm if the game does well.
****, I'm so conflicted.

Bioware has always responded well to criticism. ME1 was a success and they took the criticism about the complete ass inventory and terrible unexplored world copy and paste side quests to heart. Say what you will about their tendency to take a scalpel to the game instead of making incremental changes but they will try to do better.

Assuming there is DLC we'll see what their next move is going to be and go from there.

they just need to add small 'main quests' to the explorable areas to flesh them out and they're golden.

imo they did a stellar job given this was a new engine... the groundwork has been laid for something even better, and provided EA lets them take their time with it (which it seems they will) the next game will probably be outstanding.
