Why are alot of players that wanted the game to do so poorly.

Expect the worst and you will be surprised that the game is better than what you expected XD. Inquisition is a disappointment on the PC, please play the PC version with keyboard and mouse and then reply again :).

I've played about 500 hours on a PC with KB/M and I'm doing just fine. The controls are far from optimal, but by no means terrible, except for the tac cam which is unusable because of the controls AND the platform-independent problems with the zoom and moving the reticle around.

As per EA's financial release:

http://news.ea.com/p...nancial-results

The single player campaign alone has been enjoyed for more than 113 million hours."

I... find this hard to believe.

Look at the final ME3 stats that were published a year after the game was released.

The total amount of time spent in singleplayer was 88.3 million hours. A year after the game was released. DA:I is out for only two months and more people actually played it?

If this is true then... congratulations, BioWare. You did a really good job.

Is this turning into an ME vs DA thread?

I'll be firmly on the ME side if it does :)

DAI is a much longer game if you do all or even most of the content. It took me about forty hours to get through ME3, but my first run of DAI was ninety-seven hours and the second was eighty-nine. I think the completionists and people who play multiple times are probably skewing the number upwards.

Mind you, I also think the game seems to be selling well. I'd be very surprised if it has substantially outsold ME3, though.

Well... to counter your last argument, other publishers do, and EA does as well. One need only look at some of their 2014 Financials to shut down that line of argument.

However, this is the first real evidence I've seen that DA:I sold well. If they are staking reputation and possible SEC fines on clarifying that DA:I sold more units than any other Bioware game, then I'll accept that. Surprised as heck, but no one is stupid enough to hang themselves to cover up mediocre performances.

Well, tip of the hat, BW. I'm extremely baffled that you apparently have one of the highest rates of digital download sales in the entire AAA industry, but good job. I'm still not sure why EA would willfully obscure that or the numbers, but short of a federal indictment, I will believe them.

Nah, digital numbers don't factor in THAT much, they'll have about the same as everybody else.

Going on EA's statement, about Inquisitions being by far Bioware's most successful launch, Bioware's games don't sell all that well (because RPGs don't sell all that well.) Origins didn't launch exceptionally, it may have sold 5 million in its lifetime but that's 5 years worth of sales there. ME3 was Bioware's fastest selling game before Inquisition's and even that dwindles into almost insignificance when considering what other genres pull, or even Skyrim and Diablo.

Inquisitions won't top 10 mil, which means it won't be a blockbuster. But hardly any RPG tops 10 mil so it's a blockbuster for Bioware and a step in the right direction (if they're looking for more sales.) The figures don't need to be that different from NPD and VNchart for it to be accurate.

With games block busters are when they sell over 1 million.

Nah, that's hardly enough to recoup costs. Indie games can approach the 1 mil mark, and while they can be blockbusters in the Indie scene they're not really blockbusters in general. Divinity OS sold prob close to a mil, but that's not even enough to justify a AAA budget.

Well done to Dai but me4 going to take you out.

I wouldn't mind if it did.

If a game can advance on 116 GOTY's then I'll be playing it.  ;)

If you'd get to play a new game made exactly from the templates of the old ones, I'd take any bet you wouldn't be impressed.

As for the next ME, I never thought it would happen but I remain completely unmoved. I recall I was so excited to see Bioware made an SF rpg back in 2008.... then they gave me a protagonist who got stupider with every iteration and a final instalment that felt like a betrayal. It takes a lot to turn me from a fan into a non-fan, but ME did it. Not my story, not my universe anymore. Unless something really big changes.

DA has yet to disappoint me in anything critical in five years.

I play on PC and while the controls leave much to be desired and the tac cam is basically useless, it didn't take long for me to get used to the controls. They're certainly workable, and there are many PC players who are more than happy with the game, myself included.

How do you tell the group what to do? For me, they only listen if the tactical camera is on. Following inertia from the last two games, I often pause the combat and pick abilities. Then I go back to action and they ignore it. It's especially bad when disrupting or closing rifts: I can't control another companion while the inquisitor is busy because she stops doing it when I change to someone else.

What you believe is not really the determining factor here.

What you anticipate developers secretly thought is your own fantasy that you are entitled to.

If you cling to the notion that DAI is a 'sales flop' then that is a static cage of your own making that runs contrary to published information.

The situation seems very clear, DAI has been critically and financially very successful.

That doesn't force you to like the game, it's success does not equate to perfection, but inventing your own truth lacks credibility.

From the Earnings Call statement:

"Dragon Age: Inquisition was named to more than 200 “Game of the Year” lists globally."

"In particular, Dragon Age: Inquisition had by far the most successful launch in BioWare’s history, exceeding our expectations."

"Outperformance versus our outlook was driven by the record-breaking Dragon Age: Inquisition performance."

its called having common sense, you might want to try it. Everything she said is completely logical and on point. Theyve mentioned a gazillion times wanting to match skyrim in one way or another, and obviously anybody with a shred of rational thinking understands it involves the financial success as well. Also, as she mentioned the amount of resources they poured into the game are far beyond the what they need to sell in order to gain it back. That it sold as well as DA2 is peanutes considering that it was churned out after a year or so. Yet again you direct us to a website showing no concrete proof, of it being  "The situation seems very clear, DAI has been critically and financially very successful",

it is just as much speculation on your part as it is on ours, if its was such a huuuuuge success why arent they being more specific about their sales? and why are they constantly boasting about pointless awards they received for no apparant reason. Did it ever occur to you all that brouhaha and nonsense is a desperate attempt at  painting a positive picture/marketing and encouraging people to buy the game? duh of course they are going to be saying that its wonderful and exceeds expectations. If you were desperate to sell something, would you be talking about what a disappoinment it was and how much of a failure it is?   Of course they are going to be playing it up and painting a positive picture because its COMMON SENSE.  "OOOO hai guys ^^ well sales arent really what we expected and we've garnered much critcism from the playerbase, the game is an incredibly buggy mess atm, pc controls are horrendous, many people cant play because of all the bugs, but im sure in the nearest future we will have it all patched up!!!!, but pleeeeeaaasse buy our games, its amaaaaaazing!!!!!!!"

In fact ive yet to come across a gaming company so intent on boasting its  recent "successes" as BW, all the while providing nothing but vague bs about pointless awards nobody cares about. I cant remember the last time ea and bw reps were so intent on telling us just how ultra crazmazingly-tastic everything is going for them , nobody clutches for air that aggressively unless they are struggling to breathe

You people are so naive, bless your little hearts, either that or you're just floating around in lala-land engulfed in wishful thinking

Well... the next ME game is relatively independent of Shepard's story. So it's still the same universe without the problems you may have had.

Think of it as a fresh slate.

Maybe try to use them instead of controlling them?

Oh! He was the first Dragon I've killed just  couple days ago. I was expecting it to be more difficult, but it was pretty neat seeing him trying to avoid my fire attacks.

But yeah I typically play a controller and sometimes the decoy, this way my companions can do whatever they want (no matter how silly). So far I didn't felt like switching to other character in combat.

(note: I don't play melee)
