The bonuses don't stack, I wouldn't bother getting barrier, its just a crappy version of tech armor anyway.

Good to know. Is there a site up anywhere with like a good breakdown of this sort of thing yet? It would be nice to not have to create a new character and watch the intro 5 more times to see all of the specifics on classes as well. TY bioware and EA for releasing a crappy manual with no real information in it.

I would very much like to know as well, would be great to get some detailed information on barrier, fortification and the like

You can tell whether or not defensive abilities stack by going to the squad screen to view your shield/barrier total (out of combat so you're not taking damage). The numerical value is always displayed, so it's easy to test.

Are there any of the shield enhancers (geth shield boost, barrier, fortification, energy drain) that stack with tech armor? I know I could test them once I work my new sentinel up, but I'm trying to pick a bonus talent in new game +. I'm sort of intrigued by energy drain, especially if it replenishes the tech armor.

This is true. I can confirm that Biotic Charge's temp barrier and Barrier/Fort stack just fine. Even though the graphic disappears when you charge. Visual effects tend to overwrite each other I noticed.

Actually from my tests, barrier *does* stack with Tech Armor. It just doesn't change the appearance at all. While running both, my shields are currently (@ lvl 21) 833.

Tech Armor looks silly. Barrier doesn't.

(I'd take Tech Armor if it was blue)

So it does stack? D=

I started my sentinel playthrough with barrier as the bonus talent and thought it wasn't stacking since the graphic didn't change so I restarted with Reave instead.

Tech Armor is... well... tech, so it makes sense that it is similar color to an omni-tool

i agree that the tech armor design is disappointing. it just looks to bulky to me, especially over the right shoulder.

I just wish you could change Tech Armor's color. Unless I missed an option somewhere, anyway. I'd like a bright blue or dark red version instead of the cream white version you get. ;)

Ask the question in the mod thread, I am sure its just a 2d texture floating on a flat mesh with the alpha channel cranked up to glow, you can prolly use texmod and change it to whatever color you like.

Doesn't Sa---Warden Kuril have a blue Tech Armor?

I do think Tech Armor does look better than Barrier, even though it makes less sense on a biotic such as my Vanguard. I dislike the fact that it stays on during cutscenes (though arguably less than in Mass 1), but at least an 'unaimed' Charge can disable it.
