Lucrosians know the best path to power.

Out of curiosity, did we ever see a Circle mage character who was a Lucrosian?

I'm with nugs.

I'd support a Mage Isolationist colony with nug-farms, defended by a contingent of trained War Nugs.

Anyone who tries to invade would be too distracted by the adorable critters running around, or by the sight of an army of mages on nugback, to know whether to attack or burst out laughing first? And that moment of confusion is all the mages need to enact Operation: Waddling Thunder!

I've always thought of Vivienne as sort of a Loyalist but then a Lucrosian at the same time (in practice). She's the perfect example of using ones intelligence and magic to become a driving political force.

Loyalist.

I'd be remembered as the mage who revolutionized Circle fashion all over Thedas.

Loyalist scum!

How do Circles work in Tevinter exactly? They are seen as academies where attendance is a privilege not mandatory in the barbaric south, meaning that only the best and cream of the crop get in. Hence I imagine every mage has a basic understanding of magic for safety reasons. Every Circle has a magister representing them, but the first enchanter can't be one because they need to run the Circle, and they can hardly do that in the Senate. I imagine that there are political parties and affiliations for like minded mages, or mages who focus on a particular areas of study, e.g. Magical theory and history, healing, military, research and development, etc.

o.o

Also am I the only one who thinks Tevinters are incapable of growing decent facial hair? Seriously they have all had this ridiculous scruff thing going on.

Yeah, that was a very Tevinter-esque answer, I think I'm spending too much time with those folks.

Depends if you like moustaches and goatees really.

I'm pretty sure more Tevinters (men) have been depicted with beards than without, actually.

One.

Caldarius or however it's spelled back in DAO.

The rest have had peach fuzz goatees and literally twirling mustaches.

 Aequitarian/lucrosian.

As a mage, I seek first to master my power and separate myself from the weak and stupid other mages.

Once I've gathered support, I move on to pursue greater things. Wealth. Knowledge. Influence. Whatever makes sense.

Plus Devon, Danarius, Aurelian Titus, Hessarian who is always depicted with a beard, and according to the cover of Asunder, Lambert.

Danarius and Titus had the wisp and patch job goatee thing going on, Lambert either had shaved or suffered it as well and Devon I'll concede actually had facial hair of a proper magnitude.

Shabby but enough of it.

And o.o Hessarian obviously spent his after life learning the secrets of proper beard growing.

What? Both of them have more facial hair then Devon, who sports a tight goatee (or van ******, depending on who's asking). You must be high or something.

It's all about depth broseph.

Not just what's there but what's beneath.

D had the v goatee, it's a angular style meant to impart fullness.

Aka it looks like more then it is.

Tevinter mage, cuz mages are just misunderstood gods who know whats best for people who are too stupid to understand that they were made to be the tools of their betters.

Still undeniably more than Devon. If you want to go investigate the specific thickness of Danarius' jpeg  beard, go ahead. I've already debunked your post about Tevinter facial hair, beyond that I don't care.

No it isn't.

It's about the same if not less, just a different style.

Personally, I don't think Isolationism will solve anything. If RL history has told us anything, when a fanatic group really doesn't like something, they won't leave you alone. Sure mages could just have their own slice of thedas but Andrastians will never leave them alone. There will be an exalted march at every given chance until mages resubmit.

That's why I like the way the Mortalitasi handle things. They use their influence and wits to be the real political driving force behind Nevarra and the general populace has no clue. The mages get what they want and the Andrastian citizens don't have to know a thing. All they have to do is keep bowing to their king..who has a magical gun hidden behind his head.
