Now when I talk to someone at work or wherever, I think of what I can say to them that will gain approval. Try it, you will be surprised of how much it works.

Thank you Bioware for teaching me great socializing techniques!

Read "Verbal Judo"........it's like DAI on steroids and can get you into or out of just about any situation on the planet! But yeah, I hear ya, it's neat to see the connection to real world social interaction and transactions.

Except in my head the choice I made was "Not necessarily" and what I wound up saying was "You're completely wrong in every way imaginable and I will not stand for this!"
Everyone disapproved

LOL!!!

I know what you mean.

ME taught me social skills... before then, I was "socially awkward".

From now on whenever somebody speaks to me I have a list of potential responses, and pick one from the list.

Social skills? You mean use the Renegade interrupt to push someone through a window.

So I'm just wondering do you visualize a dialog wheel above everyone's head.  I'm picking up what you're laying down. We all can learn something about life in the weirdest of places.  Yet I just warn, don't be too PC and Pandering.  Gaining approval doesn't equal respect.

But in reality this means that most of the time you would basically have to lie to get their approval.

Like "I should go"?

Sorry, somebody had to say it at some point :D But seriously now and out of curiosity, what are some of the potentional responses if you could list at least a few?

Me too. Now whenever someone asks me to deliver flowers to a grave on the other side of town, I drop what i'm doing and do it. Then I never tell them about it, because they don't need to know.

The Dragon Age method of talking to people doesn't work so well for me. While I'm thinking of a response to make, the person gets annoyed with my silence and walks away. That never happens in the game. :(

My Dragon Age social skills and Real Life social skills are exactly the same.

Take the snarky joke option every time.

Anyone else occasionally get into a conversation and suddenly have that moment where you realize there's a paragon and renegade option for a response? :P

I can't post videos due to browser issues, but this reminds me of that scene in a Zero Punctuation review where he demonstrates why you shouldn't talk to people as if you're going through a dialogue tree.

I had a few black eyes from walking up to complete strangers, poking them at an attempt to open up a dialogue. I don't know what went wrong. I thought that is how you start up a conversation?

Dragon Age's social skills failed me in the real world.

That's not uncommon. In fact that's basically politics.

Tried to apply DAI to real life but I become confused when real life doesn't crash and freeze constantly and I'm able to have conversations with others without them pausing for five minutes to think of a response. It's so disconcerting.

That's actually very sad. Didn't you have any social contacts prior to playing Dragon Age? Are you a hermit?

Lmao I was just thinking about this the other day. Attempting to use some sort of inner dialogue wheel.
