Leaping shot sometimes bugs and causes the controlled charactor to fall through the world and lose all health. If fighting a dragon, the dragon sometimes resets. Not a big fan of Leaping Shot due to that, though it does do nice damage.
Archery......*sigh*.

Wouldn't you be like 5 miles back after 4 leaping shots? Or even 2 of them? Or do you back up against a wall first?
Yeah, back up against a wall. Or in some cases it is ok to use it in the open field, like against a dragon after he pulls you with the winged attack. But funny bugs can happen with leaping shots during a dragon fight, funny and infuriating at the same time...
For example while I was in the middle of the leap of the 2nd shot, I suddenly flew very rappidly backwards, over a hill, like 200 meters away from the damn dragon, my stupid party started following me and the dragon was following them.
And as you said about the artificer, while the spec could be somewhat fun as a melee, setting traps in stealth and whatnot, I don't see much reason even for that, since they are so pathetically weak. Elemental Mines are ok like around lvl 11 or 12, but they quickly lose their usefulness. As a melee I would go assassin over artificer any day of the week, it has great synergy with double daggers.
But there is really no comparison between Hail of Arrows and Thousand Cuts. With Thousand Cuts one is able to one-shot a high dragon on nightmare, or at the very least prepare for Mark of Doom detonation like you have never seen (when I was testing it, Cole managed to get a 165k crit).

And everything else it does is melee... i can spend time setting a trap, or i can spend time tossing mines. Either way, i should be spending that time shooting, and if something is in melee range that long I'm doing something wrong.
Despite the name, which I thought would make you an autocannon briefly, all it does is fire the same skill twice. For a few seconds. So essentially, your skills do double damage for a few seconds; that's all. Full Draw has a cast time, which eats into that time. I dunno, it just doesn't seem all that exciting to me.
On the other hand, trying Tempest (and not counting the Focus bug), I can create my own fun combos and opening nukes by playing with the effects that give no stamina cost, no cooldown, and bonuses from stealth. Side note: flame flask destealths you. Something about bursting into flames... but I've opened with Poison Weapons, the flame flash, stealth, Full Draw, Full Draw again. You might spend stamina and get a cooldown on the second Full draw, but not on anything else after Poisoned Weapons, so stealth is again immediately available, too.
Also really, try thousand cuts + leaping shot. You'll find it hard not to go looking for excuses to do it on everything.
True, the trap is not useful at range, but if upgraded it doesn't break stealth and you can run everywhere and set them. Or you can set one and stand on it, so any enemies that approach you get launched away. And I always had great fun rolling in, throwing down a carpet of Christmas lights, then Leaping Shotting the hell out of there as everything exploded and enemies were freezing and on fire at the same time. XD And Hail of Arrows doesn't really fire the same skill twice, it just doubles the damage the first time. And it doubles every shot, not just the abilities. It may not be the biggest one shot damage dealer, but it offers some versatility in what you can do with it, and with upgraded Focus it can last quite a while. I guess it's more a control spec than a straight up damage spec though, so if just damage is what you're looking for then maybe this isn't the spec for you. But I certainly had fun with it.

Well, it's not a fantasy game like DA series, but it does have bow combat. The game is called WarFrame, and it is a third person shooter that has a bow you manually aim and can hold for how long as you want.

THIS.
Dragon's Dogma archery was beyond awesome. BEYOND.
My heart deflated a wee bit when I picked up the bow with my first Inquisitor, but... I cheered up when I realised it was still better in Inquisition than in previous Dragon Age games.
Come on, someone PLEASE shamelessly copy Dragon's Dogma combat!!!
How about Capcom shamelessly copying Dragon's Dogma combat for Dragon's Dogma online? ![]()

Also in the latest Tomb Raider it was rather fun to use a bow, especially for sneaky kills.

And maybe you should have read the 2nd paragraph of my post that explained my use of hyperbole for the rhetorically challenged.Someone's grumpy. I didn't say anything about FPS...........read the post first before shooting your mouth off, tough guy.
What you asked for is directly controlling execution of various moves in a genre where you select the actions and leave the execution to the characters; both approaches are perfectly valid but asking for and the genre of the game to be changed to the genre you like most is just as silly as demanding that dragon age be changed to a first person shooter or flight simulator if you happened to really like those games - it's a silly request, and it's not gonna happen.
