I was wondering who to take best to this quest. From what you know so far in the game, perhaps those most noble ones might work best. Cass, Viv, perhaps your love interest (though that's a bit of a spoiler information too, considering the dance at the end.)

However, knowing about Blackwall's past, does it make a difference to bring him along? Does it change anything? I heard bringing Sera gives an additional quest, too?

They are all worth taking at least for one playthrough. Your LI is a good bet. Vivienne has surprisingly little to say. I thought bringing Dorian would cause more commotion, considering you are bringing a Tevinter magister (and they even announce him as such) to the Orlesian court, but no.

yeah that's been my next bet, to bring Dorian along. Surely, Sera will just loath them all. Maybe Varric is good for a story or two. Bull however, he might be a hilarious sight?

Sera's introduction is pretty funny.

Sera gets you an additional mini quest but, I don't care for her so, I don't even recruit her anymore. I take my LI for the dance at the end, beyond that it depends on if I'm killing Florienne or not. That can be a tough fight so, I plan my team accordingly.

I don't take Cole because he hides in the library so, you have to loose approval to go talk to him. Blackwall makes no difference other than one NPC comment to him that you get to hear.

When I took Solas, he got presented as my male elf servant. That made me laugh a little ^_^

Oh really? No difference for blackwall? Perhaps when choosing to go with what's his name.. Gespart? I think I read somewhere that he won't like that at all?

If you talk to Viv, she will give you a relevant hint of who the assassin is first.  Just for roleplay. All else there is nothing about any of them.. Just your LI dance.

Take your romance.

I like to bring Sera along as well. Sera has a small quest there, but she's not really useful from a plot standpoint (then again, nobody really is—your advisors do all the heavy lifting here).

Don't take Varric, because he might screw up the scripting for some other stuff.

Don't take Vivienne. It makes sense to take her, but forcing her into that outfit is just too cruel.

I brought Cassandra and she was disappointing, talked to her three times throughout the quest and all three times were just moaning about how she hates these types of situations.  Also had Vivienne who was pretty much herself.. actually she was too busy enjoying the party than offer me anything insightful.

I'm going to re-do this quest later today and this time i'll bring Sera and Varric and see what happens.

Why does Varric screw stuff?

He ends up in a side room somewhere, and there's apparently somebody there who will talk to you once you get in (it's one of those locked doors, so you may not ever even want to open it, and you'd never even see Varric).

But if Varric is there, he has an ambient conversation with them instead, and there was a report that it could leave you unable to speak with the character.

I've never tried it, though, so I don't actually know if he breaks anything (and it's not too terribly important regardless).

Or justice for rearranging my bloody furniture... *grumble*
