The inquisitor is cool, but the entire history of the game revolves around the warden, the characters, the setting, whose in charge, the god baby (or lack of god baby).
We need him back as a playable character. Wouldn't be too hard to recreate, and with a selection of voices, he could be given a modern makeover and played the way we want to play him.
The issue would be that the Warden is dead, a Bann of the Alienage, a Paragon of Orzammar, is suffering from the betrayal of the Hinterlands not being given to the People, or is dealing with a myriad of other fates that would be difficult to reconcile considering the divergent paths that the Warden can head towards, not to mention the schism between people who like and dislike voiced protagonists in RPGs.
I mean I want to see the story threads tied up and explained, I don't want to have to re-meet morrigan and flemith and alistair every single game. Take us to tavinter and let us meet the leader of the wardens in the anderfels.
We could explore the Anderfels and the Grey Warden Order as a new character, whom we could be free to define and shape as we see fit. There's plenty of potential that can be utilized, even with the exclusion of the Hero of Ferelden.
Plus let's face it, the inquisitor is basically royalty now, rich beyond compare.
And hopefully, the player will be able to determine the Inquisitor's fate, before the release of the next installment of Dragon Age.
Not saying it'd be easy, the custom hawke concept is a good step in the right direction, but if bioware could pull it off, everything would be so much more significant with the warden involved then some guy who has no reason to care. Especially morrigan and leliana, and they're pretty central to everything...
Hawke was problematic for some people because it didn't feel like their character, and that could easily happen if the Warden resurfaces, whether it's as a main character or an NPC. Hawke felt like a complete stranger to me, and I kept wondering why this guy who loathed blood magic and hated blood mages was in a romantic relationship with a Dalish blood mage.
Hoping to see the warden again, if he spend the rest of the series as a box of text, that truly sucks.
I'm sorry you feel that way. I simply don't feel that the Warden needs to return; I'm rather satisfied knowing that Morrigan and her son would reunite with my Surana Warden after the events of Inquisition.
And I want to hear about the calling, the root of the darkspawn (who are WAY scarier then the demons in DAI)... still have 6 magisters unaccounted for, and slumbering old gods (and live gods waiting to be reborn) that could make for a killer storyline.
I think we could still explore those ideas without the Warden being directly involved.
