It is really baffling though how there's so many holes in everything even though the castle clearly can go through a lot of cosmetic changes. The inquisitor didn't risk having a great bear crawl up her breeches snatching everyone's quarries up to have our castle in the sky look like some kind of shanty town. P'shaw.

Also i have to add, the most disappointing feature was constructing the mage tower. I wasn't even sure I'd found it when I did, it was so small. Like... how do they get any work done in there...

Yeah, you hear "mage tower", then you look for it and... THAT'S IT!? Your room is bigger!

I don't mind Skyhold.

First priority is defense and functionality.  The Inquisition should worry about aesthetics after the threats have been eliminated.

I don't mind that the characters were always on the same spot, the fact that some were forced to stay in a different place until the Skyhold was a bit in better shape was a nice touch, but chasing the characters around the Skyhold just so you can talk to them wouldn't be very fun. I think that each character's place, fit their personality more or less.

I liked how big it was, but it was disappointing how little you could to with it. I really would love it, if I was able to contribute to its repairing. It's, ok I get it, Cullen is a military guy and could probably sleep on rocks, but I would like to fix that roof regardless, it's kind of depressing. I would also like to clean all the junk in the corridors leading to IQ room, it's dangerous. At least Solas is doing something creative with his space.

I'm still not sure where everyone sleep:  Cole probably doesn't, Sera sleeps above the tavern, Cassandra above the armory, Cullen above his office, Blackwall sleeps with horses, Viv probably on the couch near the balcony, the rest?

This is it....if they have somewhere to sleep...we should be able to have a midnight chat with them...but not on rocks. ;)

Also, I seem to of missed out Vivenne. I'm so sorry. But Viv does have some kind of couch to sit on...and a bed I think...which is more that all the others have got.

This suddenly makes why he hangs around the stables in Haven and Skyhold seem a lot more disturbing to my overactive imagination...

Cullen has a massive bed in the room above his office (even if he doesn't ever fix the bloody roof.)

To be honest, my biggest issue with Skyhold is the random nobles hanging out in the Great Hall. This is a military stronghold, not a soiree, get the hell off my ship etc etc.

But yeah, the holes in the roof and the walls are ridiculous. They could have at least fixed them after getting all three upgrades or near the end of the game. How long has the Inquisition been there by the time they killed Corypheus? Long enough to upgrade the tower, courtyard and garden, but not long enough to mend the freaking walls?

Skyhold is...eh...

In many ways even KoA Reckoning handled strongholds better and there they weren't even part of the main questline (and you could have multiple).

Completely agree. At first I was excited but after a couple of hours I was already missing Haven. It was a much more well-sized and well-designed place for squadmates. Skyhold is an oversized maze and it doesn't even do anything in the final mission, which was why I thought we got there in the first place.

Fix the rubble in the War-room hall DLC

Fix the roofs DLC

A proper bed for Cassandra DLC...

Skyhold just felt a little incomplete to me. I second the ruins remaining even at the final stage. That was weird.

I thought it was fairly obvious that Skyhold will be continue to be repaired and updated over time as DLC is released, since they all occur after the final battle.

I'm expecting many more functions by the time the game is thoroughly over. I think people should acknowledge that.

It'd be nice if we could actually use the sparring ring. I heard sparring and wicked grace mini-games were cut or never finished. And companion mounts too.

Companion mounts were cut because last Gen couldn't handle it

I hear Skyhold's parents had really hoped that it would be a doctor.

Yes, the unfinished corridor the the war room drives me nuts!

Blackwall sleeps in the hayloft. I pretend everyone has a bedroom somewhere by the end as I hate thinking of anyone sleeping on a couch or on the floor. The place is big enough!

I like to think that everyone uses the extra bedrooms around Skyhold when night comes. I've gone poking around all of the doors and there's some random empty bedrooms, rooms with bunks, etc. I'll just assume people use those at night.

Has anyone else found the cellar library? I just found it last night. Had no idea it was there. Lots of reading material for codexes. You'll find it down a hall from the kitchen.

I was expecting Skyhold to be a lovely place to have conversations with your companions, each with their own cosy room.

But what do we get?

Cassandra relegated to standing outside with some dummies. Iron Bull on the other side looking lost.

Josephine stuck behind a desk scribbling all the time.

Varric in the main hall guarding a door.

Solas shuffling around an empty space called a room.

Leliana placed in a dark rookery with some sqawking birds.

Cullen mulling over  a map in a halfway point between towers.

Sera in a kind of room filled with junk.

Dorian looking at book titles and can't find anything he likes in a gangway.

Blackwall confined to the stables.

Sighs...even upgrading doesn't change much .

Okay, things upgrade as you do quest so...

  • Dorian has his comfy chair where you'll often find him snuggled up with books
  • Leliana has a gorgeous office with a fireplace
  • Varric has a chair and table by a fireplace where he does his writing
  • Cullen has an office with a few bookcases and a desk
  • Bull is the bar in an armchair
  • Sera likes her room stuffed with junk, those are all her things she's collected - it says so in her journal
  • Leliana likes being in the rookery. That's essentially her office where she sends out and receives reports!
  • Solas paints his room and has a sofa
  • Vivienne has a sitting room on a balcony
  • Blackwall has the barn where he does his woodwork
  • Cass does stay by the training dummies, but she also has a bedroll in the workshop.

Yeah, and (if he's romanced) he has the nerve to make the inquisitor spend the night in that room with him! (First the desk, then the bare bed under a broken roof? Guy certainly knows how to please a girl.)

Iron Bull's bedroom is above the tavern (top floor). You can see him in it in the cutscene where the romanced IQ gives him the gift.

I haven't figured out where Leliana, Dorian, Varric, or Cole sleeps.

I kinda wish we could tear down or change that Templar banner in the hallway between your bedroom and the Grand Hall... since if you don't side with the Templars (or are a Mage), it seems like a really weird thing to keep up there?

Am I the only person who tried to jump over the rail on the way to the Inq's room? I wanted to see what was in the area below. I thought the tower upgrade would be for there.

In this case, wouldn't it make more sense to deal with the holes in the roof in the base game and leave the purely cosmetic upgrades for the DLC?
