So, as I'm sure some of you know, the strides they're making with the DA:I modding toolkit are pretty huge. More and more we can do every day.

And there are some great mods out there already - including a few that allowed me to play an old school, Origins style Arcane Warrior, which was just beyond fun. Figured I'd post what I did, just so anyone else wondering why AW changed to KE can get some nostalgia too.

With the mods out there already, I was able to play a mage build wearing heavy/medium/light/whatever struck my fancy at the time armor, and wield a one-handed sword in one hand and nothing in the other. Then I specced to KE, set it to nightmare to make up for the KE's OP-ness, and wah-la - Arcane Warrior. Sword in one hand, spirit blade when I need it in the other.

It's incredibly fun, honestly. And adds a new level of strategy to combat/stats, since now I have to worry about more than just magic and wisdom.

Fun fun fun!

That does sound like a lot of fun. Where did you get these mods ? And what mods did you use for it ?

nexusmods.com   (youll have to make an account if you've never used it before--don't worry, you can get a free one.)

To make an arcane warrior, you will first need the mod manager. After that, search through the files (the mod manager can be found there too) for the mod that removes class restrictions on weapons (there is one for armor too, if you don't want to wait for specific materials), And any other mods you May want (there are some great texture replace mods on there--i highly recommend at least getting the dark leather shoulder  And thigh pads mod) And install everything according to the instructions on the mod manager page

feel free to ask me if you have any problems. I'm happy to help.

It was true for Skyrim. Don't know about Inquisition. This game is as close to a  masterpiece as I've ever seen. Just needs tweaks, really - like nerfing the Knight Enchanter, and honestly, making combat in general harder. Maybe a teeeensy bit slower, so the parrying skills have more use. They're useful now, but not as useful as they could be.

There are some fantastic mods for the older Dragon Age games, too. Origins is one of the most modded games there is. Mostly, people make mods for the games they love. So I'm hoping as the toolkit develops we'll see cooler and cooler mods. Animation replacers and model replacers are currently being worked on from what I hear. I'd love to play an elf without the super lithe body. I'm constantly adding bulky parts onto my Arcane Enchanter's armor so he doesn't look so tiny.

Really? Wow. I haven't gotten anything past a minor annoyance. Those I normally attribute to my system.
