Ah BSN, don't change...

Too busy with DAMP Gold medal hunting to fret about off topic  :D

Back on topic with some good interaction discussion on Saturday, maybe Sunday.

What is this... "soon" you speak of?

What is this... "soon" you speak of?

I can't further specify "soon" for legal reasons as the weekend challenge contains variables outside of my control.

Whilst I do have a philosophical intent to post something on topic, the actual on topic post is something I'm not talking about at the moment.

;)

(ok, going to make a list of the top DAMP questions for the devs from this and a couple of other streams, but gold medals come first...)

Reading the OP, fair point that this thread may not have been created specifically to address my post. Apologies for not touching base first before. It might have been better to have to created my own thread, but at this point it may be c'est la vie?  Let me know.  In any case, I do appreciate the thread's creation as it has helped facilitate some communication!

I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to touch base in this thread yesterday like I had hoped. Busy day for me and all, but we do have new patch notes posted. The notes thread is here, while the discussion thread is here.

As stated in the thread, continued fixes for the MP key issue have come and are live for PC, and hopefully next week for the consoles.

Thanks (I'm still back a few pages reading the thread and am getting a chance to do so now!)

I just realized today that your group is located like thousands of miles away from where I thought they were... Here I thought you all were crazy Montreal or Quebec peeps, but no! You are all from the sane side of Canada!

To be honest folks, this thread:

http://forum.bioware...k-a-dev-thread/

Has come up with a really nice list of MP and SP Q&A questions.

Worth a look... heck, let's post them here, I'm sure their OP will be fine with that:

...

Questions:

Q. Region locked Matchmaking: Is there any plans on changing this. This is a big issue for those of us who live outside of the USA. I love the idea of low ping online play but not at the expense of playing alone.

A.

Q. Text Chat: Are you still planning on introducing text chat on PC? If so will it be introduced in the near future?

A.

Q. Stats: Are stats the same as they are in single player? I know people have tested this but would like confirmation.

A.

Q.Stats: Is there any plans to make our stats visible on MP?

A.

Q.Promotions: Is there a hard or soft cap on promotions?

A.

Q.Attack Canceling: Is attack cancelling via using the sprint button a bug or intended? If its a bug, is it frowned upon or are you guys ok with it as a way to enhance gameplay?

A.

Q. Schematics: When will we see them? And can you give any more information on them? Are they just going to be for weapon upgrades or will we be able to craft weapons in the near future?

Q.Class Balancing: I know alot of players think Mage classes are stronger then the rest, especially due to Barrier. Is there any plans to make other classes more appealing?

A.

Q.Future Updates: Any sneak peaks in whats to come?

Q: When will we see a fix for the mosaic pieces that are out of the map and thus inaccessible?
A:

Q: When will we see additional armor for Qunari races and all races in general? Is there any plans to remove the whole race restrictions to allow all races to use all armors? DA:O you could take armor off Oghren and then dump it on Sten.. why the race restrictions?
A:

Q: Is SP DLC going to be Free or only MP?
A:

Q: Why only allow 3 choices for upgrading Skyhold when all 6 choices take up entirely different locations? There is also more than enough resources across the world to get all 6 upgrades.
A:

Q: Is there any plans to fix the weapon upgrades dimensions and colouring? Pommels that are thicker than a grip.. grips that are thicker than the base weapon.. colours that do not mesh..
A:

Q: Armor colouring, Even on nightmare, armor stats mean very little. A lot of us generally pick the material that gives us the colour we desire and the schematic that looks the best. Any plans on adding dye kits?
A:

Q: Any reason why the Superb / Superior Battlemaster mail armor has a leather hauberk when the base model has a scale mail shirt?
A:

Q: Will there be a way to get the 550 ish schematics other than the couple dozen in set locations and merchants, without having to go grind certain regions for chest drops? A Black emporium esque schematics merchant w. mirror that some people have been asking DLC maybe?
A:

Nicely done, HowYouSoGudd...

and to share the love, some good single player questions from Vilnius...

Says who?

Says someone who see's DAMP for what it is (an excuse for EA to have Micro Transactions in yet another franchise). At best its a lame arena/horde mode that's about as fun as watching paint dry.As a result the more important part of the game which is the SP Campaign has been compromised for a totally pointless MP mode that should never have been in there at all, a Co-Op campaign is as far as it should have gone period.

I made another small change to the title. As this thread is in the MP section it's intention is to be a bit more MP focus. A lot of this is still sort of "play by ear" in terms of organization as we look on getting information for patch notes and balance notes and stuff like that.

I know it seems like we're just ignoring other users with issues in other aspects of the game. I've actually received PMs from late last year stating it was unfair of me to be favouring the PC users because I spent an evening in that thread talking, or that I only cared about banter issues, and as such we're ignoring the consoles or MP concerns. The joys of being one of a handful of people. I could have been helping out Conal a bit more as I was working on more behind the scenes stuff but as I'm not actually assigned specifically to the DA franchise at the moment, I started to back away a bit because on some level I just didn't have the answers and it was seeming like my continued presence posting was perhaps antagonizing others.

Maybe that's my inexperience as aside from a couple weeks after launch helping with support my engagement on the forums was limited (in general it was a lot easier for me to take things much more personally and I had some really vile stuff thrown at me for both DAO and DA2 - the worst actually coming from DAO, so for my own sanity I moved on).

Yes there's me paying a bit more attention in this section right now (before this I don't know if I spent any time here), on some level because this is where a flashpoint happened and my goal was first and foremost deescalation. I think that that has been achieved and it does send a reinforcement that maybe I can be more proactive myself, even if it's just facilitating data collection that we're able to share with you guys regarding questions and whatnot.

Friendly player collision is literally the best reason to play a stealth class right now.

No more getting stuck behind that player that doesn't know sprint exists. xD

Hahaha, I'm totally the guy that always forgets to use that....

One thing that I think would help the community would be a clarification on how you would like us to report issues that we find in the game.  Would the devs prefer a PM, a post on these boards or a report through the EA channel?

Digitally the best place is probably the EA Answers board, found here: http://answers.ea.co...p/DAInquisition

Part of this is because the team there also spends time collecting data from various social media as well as even old school phone calls to best gauge the prevalence/severity of some issues.  My understanding is that the forums themselves are just a slice of the feedback (I'm not informed with how big of a slice).

For someone who hates DAMP, you sure spend a lot of time in the DAMP forums crying about it.

Thanks Bioware-folk for reaching out. The truth is, I think, that less participation has happened everywhere, and that's why gamers are more prickly to it.

It would be fine if one company seemed to be absent, but these days it seems that every company is picking interaction/ feedback/ participation with the consumer as the thing to trim from the overhead budget in the last couple years. It's easy to point the finger at gamers and say it's no fun hearing criticism, and that's why companies have retreated. But truth is, just like taking game manuals online, there's some budget incentive to retreating as well. Not well advised of course, customer loyalty has a true value added quality... but for a company that's looking at short term math (cannibalizing the laurels) rather than long term math (rotating crops), I can see why a company could decide to cut back on fan interaction. That's why it is easy for me to believe that a lot of game companies are experimenting with being non responsive / non interactive. I don't know it's Bioware though. But when it happens at a handful of game makers, one worries about whether game companies in general can be trusted to produce good products.

I hope Bioware's in the good fight, if they are they're one of very few game companies to be in the good fight.

Just as a random idea... has any message board ever had a 'frustration' thread where people could be cranky, to act as a sort of pressure release to let the remainder of the boards be civil to friendly?

Because I understand constructive criticism is the most helpful... and that making things personal or confrontational might be fulfilling in the short term but not effective in the long run. Just spit-balling with the idea of a frustration thread for people to vent without any expectation of developer interaction. I don't know if it's been tried and failed, or never attempted.

I've seen it done before. It can work, as long as what happens in there stays in there.

Loooool. Nobody is going to take you seriously with opinions like that, and with good reason too. Like I said earlier, start your own revolution, and stop trying to piggyback off ours.

Don't bother, I remember Jim. He went out of his way to derail every MP thread he could when DAMP was first announced. He even went so far as labelling people that were excited for DAMP as Dew guzzlers etc. He went at it for almost two days and his claims grew ever more grandiose lol.
