Oh, hell to the no am I clicking on that link. Romances in RPG's lead to nightmarish discussions. It's why I abandoned the Mass Effect single player forums and rarely go to the DA forums. They're just..wrong. So very, very wrong.

Even at the best of times, I would agree. OP's take on how romance options should include rape took it to its worst very quickly.

Yeah, I feel a little nauseated. Not good.

Sticking together? For me, that really depends.

I'm just going to leave this here. Note: Only read through the rest of that if you have a strong stomach.

As to the topic, I'd rather not convince people to play. I'm only interested in playing with people who want to. If they've got one foot out the door, they're more likely to spend their time raging about what I'm doing, and I'd rather relax and have fun.

.

Gotta say that's the first time I'be seen someone just outright ask for THAT in a games official forum. Thought that's what Skytom mods are for. ANYHOO

On topic there's not much you can do. Even a strong group of friends will start dropping off if the game can't speak for itself.

As a veteran of a few relatively niche and questionably supported multiplayer games I'm seeing some familiar patterns here.

Never seen it go down like this on a high profile AAA game like this though.

Bioware should be asking itself..

Why did we waste resources on multiplayer when the games designed as a singleplayer RPG..

It was the same in Mass Effect 3 total waste of effort.

Wow!!! Puts some more context around that other unsavory "joke" the OP made the other day.

Indeed.

I am still early-ish in DAMP but I think my time might be short with this compared to ME3MP

There are some connectivity and leg issues. There are some minor technical glitches in game (I havent seen the key issue so the things I see aren't game breaking).

The real long-term problem is it feels so much about equipment and not me.  In ME3MP it was great to have a Hurricane V but it wasn't soooo much better than a Hurricane I it changed my ability to score at the top of the mission leaderboard - and this isn't about vanity but just the reality of score as a proxy metric for overall effectiveness . DAMP OTOH my changes in fortunes from the bottom to the top of the board has been 15% skill at the game but 85% having much, much better equipment than when I started. I'd actually say by ability to handle the stage 5 bosses are about my overall skill at the game but the survival on the other 4 waves is about equipment. I'm not sure what is left to the game once I get the higher end equipment (purple stuff) that I really don't have right now.

Total waste of effort? You can't be serious. The Multiplayer part of ME3 was and it still is freaking awesome. Bioware got so many things right on that game, surprising so many people that it doesn't seem to be the same company behind DAMP.

Even though DAMP might be considered a fiasco, the idea of having a Multiplayer mode in this game and the subsequent ones is commendable. If anything it adds more value to the price we pay, as well as being an entirely optional mode.

I'm having fun in DA:MP as it is right now and try and play a few rounds every day, but I would highly appriciate that all stats were shown, if not in game, then on these forums so that we can help discuss balance changes.

Bioware should be asking us this. Actually they must be asking it to themselves.

ME3MP 18 months post-release was rocking full on, big time. That subforum has 105k topics (vs 1.5k here) for a reason.
It is sad to see DAMP dying so early, but obviously Bioware as a whole is the part to be blamed for it. The game is dull with no meaningful additional content in two months, the community is divided by region and there is no sense of progression whatsoever. Being buggy is not even a serious factor anymore. If there were interesting new content, a thriving global community and clear progression, things would be different.

I for one feel powerless when it comes to keep my friends playing the game. I perfectly understand why they are moving on. I do not leave DAMP because I am stubborn, and because I want this to be ME3 spiritual sucessor. But one can only play DAMP for so much before it burns out. I hope that Bioware is sensible enough to understand this game needs to be saved from its current state.

I am guessing Mass effect franchise is far more popular and known than DA.That’s only my 2 cents.

I can agree wholeheartedly on everything you wrote. But  Allan Schumacher said to my question about matchmaking, they will take it in consideration.

"Nothing confirmed yet, but I know we were considering having a sticky thread that was "just the facts" with the information (no discussion) for quick reference to anyone coming in, while allowing another thread to exist for fans to talk/give feedback etc. I know this type of exchange works for me when I follow games myself, and I think it might be similar to what Mass Effect did with their MP?  I'll have more information for you tomorrow (I have an appointment in the morning so I likely won't see the thread again until tomorrow afternoon my time).

Same goes for your matchmaking inquiry."

Different teams making SP and MP, just like in ME3MP. People still believe that a lack of MP component would make Walters a better writer?

3) So I left this POS MP and now playing Shadows of Mordor...

Shadow of Mordor is an amazing game. I really loved it. But it aint no multiplayer game. I finished it in a few days and that was it. One thing thats really stuck in my mind about is how amazing the combat turned out after you unlocked more and more skills and upgrades for weapons etc etc. And the fact that it was a bit hard, atleast in the beginning. Again, its not a multiplayer game. Games without a good multiplayer has a lot shorter lifespan in my gaming world atleast.

I think you are quite right to believe that equipment has a lot to say in this game, almost more than anything - but it still require some knowledge and skill to play it well. It might not seem like it on routine or threatening, but it shines more through on perilous. In essence you are also correct that the so called "end game" doesnt give you a very different experience than you would have playing routine with poor weapons and no promotion. It is essentially the same. It is a bit fun to be awesomesauce in perilous though, but once you get there you are already a bit disenfranchised with the game having played it way too much, and your motivation will faulter. Thats why, if they want to keep those players who have played a lot - and are huge resources for the community - there really has to be some new content coming out, and preferably soon.

I havent played for about a week now, and I dont feel like booting up the game at all anymore unless I know will face something entirely new in multiplayer...

Just keep playing. People stop playing when there's no one to lobby with after 20-30 mins of searching.

There is a lot of lobbies - no problem finding one - it's just that I'm slowly getting fed up from getting disconnected.

Four major problems with DAMP

  1. Level 1 all over again.
  2. RNG in chests is unfair.
  3. Repetitive mission designs.
  4. Connection issues.

You can't do nothing, if the game was better more people would play it. There's simply not enough content right now for game to be attractive, and the RNG system is even worse than in ME3MP.

Yes a worse RNG system, and not even remotely as well designed as ME3MP.  Go back and play ME3MP and compare.

You are not serious, right? ME3MP is still rocking almost 3 years after its release: you can still easily find lobbies and the forum is still very much active (way more than DAMP).

ME3 is most likely the best game ever.
