Due to how small the playerbase is that consistantly plays perilous, a lot of us know eachother through playing together so often. The complaints and reasons for quitting i hear are generally similar. Too many bugs, too little content, lack of communication. No doubt many will return come a big new dlc though.

Oh, hell to the no am I clicking on that link. Romances in RPG's lead to nightmarish discussions. It's why I abandoned the Mass Effect single player forums and rarely go to the DA forums. They're just..wrong. So very, very wrong.

Dammit. I clicked the link...dammit.

Yeah, I agree. I was curious clicked the link. I skimmed through one paragraph and was like...well I'm out. Those people need Andraste lol.

Shelled - No offense or anything, but spending 500 hours on a game - I would consider that pretty good bang for your buck.

Just give it time, I'm fairly certain they will keep adding things but we can't expect it to be NOW! Development cycles do not work like that, especially on a multi platform title.

It is good bang for your buck, but I don't want to spend 30 hours of that time breaking pots and reloading levels.

My curiosity has been making me regret my actions on the Internet since '93. Apparently age and experience brings only so much wisdom that curiosity can easily conquer.

Ergo, "I know better than to click this link..." (clicks link) "Ah, dammit. Ew."

IMO the best WE can do is:

- play the game.  Lack of players is a self-perpetuating downward spiral.  This includes playing politely and respectfully (not hogging kills, comms etiquette, not rushing/looting as appropriate).

- write guides and analysis.  Knowledge is power, players will play better, feel good about themselves and the game, more likely to continue playing.

- point out bugs, broken skills, glitches.  As above, help players avoid stuff that doesn't work, or impacts the game negatively.

- interact with the devs.  As the official forums, one would hope this is the place to interact, to note bugs, balance issues, glitches, cheaters etc  Obviously requires Bioware to listen and act on information.

But all games ebb and flow in popularity and numbers.  Games don't live in a void, if a big similar game comes out, player numbers will take a hit.  So ultimately DAMP needs to be excellent gameplay, rewarding players for time given, with variety to keep interest up.  This is all the stuff WE have little direct control over.

We can do litle, In fact, I have droped the game myself except for weekend operations.

The thing the game needs to keep certain types of players is just more loot.

People like to play the RNG game and the problem is that by now they have already all or most the worthwhile items so there is little more reason to play RNG.

The solution to this problem is very simple, add more loot on a week basic. Every time a challenge is completed, the RNG pool should be expanded to include at least one new unique weapon of each type and accesory, so the  game becomes more varied and RNG people have a new reason to keep playing.

Of course you need to make those items top tier because otherwise they aren't going to bother hunting them and it is a waste of work if nobody it is going to use the item (Note that by now, the use of 95% of the items in the game is salvage).

I really enjoyed MP until the patch in December brought in the "extra monsters/paths"  which in turn led to the "no key,mob in wall" glitches.

Disclaimer: super casual player: 319 prestige

Decided to put the game aside till patches fixed the issues of being kicked/zero progression.

Notice there is a 1/19 patch., install it. read the patch notes and rejoice.

Today i was restarting the computer and noticed that DA had a patch a few days ago, i got excited.

patch the game, red the patch notes "crashes are fixed, keys will drop, vase aren't stupid"

strap in for some fun.

1st game : join,complete 1/4 stages, vase broke on 3rd try.....wtf, didn't i just read this wasn't an issue?

2nd game : join, complete 3/4 stages, crash to desktop....ok, np, this has happened before.

3rd game : host,complete 4 stages, .....yay! i hope it wasn't just a fluke.

4th game : host, complete 4 stages, yay done. maybe its fixed?

5th game: host,play 3 stages, crash to desktop....what did i do??

6th game: host, play 4 stages, crash to desktop...was it something my other services were doing??

7th game: join, play 2 stages, crash to desktop... make sure I only press wasd, and left mouse button, still crash......game is still broke.

8th game: join, stuck in jion loop, alt f4, time to check forums.

test computer by playing a game of titanfall., no issues.....

well, shame on me..................go back to playing other games.

This game would be awesome.

I just don't think that the company is as enthusiastic about this game as we are.

Hmm when I said "mp is dead" I was clearly trolling (lol @ the guys replying me seriously), of course there are still tons of people playing mp since the game was released just a few months ago, but does it make much sense? At current state, the more people playing this game, the more victims of the bugs.

This is why I suggest you guys playing SP instead, it's less buggy and you can pause/save/load to get rid of most SP bugs, also for many of you guys who haven't even touched the SP campaign, I sincerely suggest you play it at least once, you've missed lots of fun and insight of the game.

As for the mp, I suggest we give it a rest now and pick this up a few months later, if the devs release more contents and fix the bugs as promised, i see no reason that the players will be back.

not directed at you,

but just to clear on my end

i completed SP before i touched MP.

MP was just a fleeting attempt to sate my urge for DA.

an urge that will remain on hold now, indefinitely.

Must be tough Mushgrump.

I can happily say I've only seen 1 vase not break on the first hit these past couple of days, and 0 cases of key not dropping despite Elementalists firestorming everywhere. (Seriously, People are playing nothing by Elementalist or Necromancers currently :P)

But I'm based in Western Europe, have solid internet and mostly host so YMMV, for me at least Patch 3, and the small upgrade patch have resolved pretty much all the issues I've seen.

Now we just need them to rethink how loot is given, so that I can start purchasing more plat.

Yeah I know, same here, and I think it's normal that people buy this game for its SP campaign :wizard: .

I said that because 3-4 people on my friend list told me that they had not touched the SP yet and had no plan to, also they "bought the game solely for MP",

It was hard to believe but true, so what I said is for these people.

SP? Too many quests, not enough challenge. I get bored to quickly as SP games now a days tend to just stretch their stories for too long so that they can brag to customers about how many hours of gameplay you get, which will ultimately ruin the story. Well, I prefer to play a shorter game with a tighter and better story. I guess most people like these sort of games a lot because of the characters, character interaction, character progress and the very nice graphics. It's a bit of a mix between the carrot-principle and the enjoyment of collecting stuff. Challenging it is not, even on the highest difficulty. Same could be said about Skyrim.

There are few SP fantasy games I have enjoyed the last few years. After the first 20 +/- hours of gameplay the magic of the graphics wear off and the aforementioned issues arise. There are two though, that has kept me interested all the way through: Dark Souls, due to its originality in gameplay, storytelling, MP intergrated into SP and because of its pure sadism regarding difficulty. It is truly a challenge on first playthrough. And Shadows of Mordor, because it was pretty hard to get in to (I just kept running into trouble and dying in the beginning), and because of the truly awesomesauce combat once you've advanced down the skill and item trees.

I seriously recommend those who are bored of SP or MP of this game to try one of those out. Oh, and dont go for Dark Souls 2, go back to the first one, or even Demon Souls which is even harder, if you can believe it. If not, come join me in Heroes of the Storm beta. Now thats truly a challenge - when you face actual, unpredictable, well skilled people in stead of some artificial intelligence.

I'm going to come back to this when the DLC comes out, just to check it out though. See if their ambitions match mine.

This conforms to what I heard about the game :P , though I'm not into sadistic games.

Well, Dark Souls gave me that feeling I havent felt playing singleplayer games for years and years. A sense of dread. A sense of being scared for my life. A sense of accomplishment and finally a sense of wonder, as it kept surprising me regularly with its genius. Rarely achieved in games these days. It's like they dont think people will play their game if it's too hard. Well, maybe you prove them right.

Nope, Never owned a playstation before I bought my PS4. I did play Gradius III on a borrowed PS2 back in the day though. Still one of the best games I've played :).

Oh, and everything about Dark Souls is probably on the list of my "favorite gaming"-moments. Other than that I'm a multiplayer guy. My favorite moments usually come from beating someone good, doing good in a tournament etc. Quake-tournaments back in the days, or Starcraft-tournaments. Those are the real, pure gaming moments.

Oh you do not need PS2.You just need PCSX2.

Well actually I don't mind if a game is too hard, I've enjoyed the STALKER series a lot while the vanilla unmodded game is very hard. I think the Dark Souls series doesn't appeal to me just because it forces me to use a gamepad (mouse & keyboard control for both games is unfortunately poor on pc).

I played it on the Xbox 360 so I never had such issues. But I do know that it was a PC port with poor k+m controls. One should get a controller. It's worth it to give in to that principle just to play this incredible game. It's truly awesome. Sauce.

Only the controls are crappy. It has now been fixed by the awesome gaming community with several patches. Though it can be played straight out of the box if you use a controller. The game was only ported to PC due to high demand of fans, not by the whim of the developers.

Good point. I guess I'll give it a try in the future, since the game is super cheap now on Steam, so even if I don't like it I guess won't lose much.
