Welcome to the world of waifus. Enjoy your stay.

Even if Solas is a sub-par choice.

Wouldn't Solas be a husbando?

Merrill will always be my husbando. Er, I mean, waifu... :?

It is interesting how people react to Solas.  I'm on my second playthrough (upgraded to PS4 yay!) and although I intended to play through as an elf I abandoned it part way through because even though my Inquisitor doesn't 'know' he's the DW, I know and I feel a bit betrayed that he couldn't trust my original character, who despite not romancing him (human mage), got very close to him.  It's not because I don't want him to 'hurt' my feelings in the game, I don't feel he's trustworthy - he's got his own agenda after all.  I guess it's a testament to the writing that it elicits such reactions from people.  I probably will have to grit my teeth and go for it at some point to see if the romance arc changes my feelings about the character.

:D I always read "waifu" as "Wai Fu" and associate some exotic martial arts discipline.

Girl , the internet is basically just a cookie farm.

Cookies. Cookies everywhere.

Fixed and why the hell have I not encountered any cookies? I like-a da cookie.

Solas is one of my favorite companions in this game. He didn't break my inquisitor's heart until my third playthrough. Was an interesting romance.

It's spelt 'waifu' but I'm pretty sure a Japanese person trying to say the word in English says it "why-fur" (or "wai-fur), since they're just over-pronouncing the 'f'.

And 'husbando' is probably more like "hus-bun-dur."

Oh yeah, my avatar is ALSO my waifu. My anime waifu, instead of my DA waifu.

@lynroy, I was joking about the "son" since obviously, I have no idea what your gender is... or did. xD

Look I like his character and I had my Inquisitor romance him. What I don't get is people "literally crying" because the romance didn't end with a white picket fence and being overly attached like it was a real boyfriend. What should be just a bit of extra flavour and drama to the story seems to have turned into a huge deal for a whole lot of people. Just recently I saw someone claiming they got jealous because a friend romance the same character as them and it's their romance. Just...what the hell.

I'm probably going to offend a lot of people but god damn is this sort of thing making me want to just slap some sense into someone.

Then don't get it, simples, it happens, it happens a lot actually, in all types of media, film, TV, literature.  I measure the worth of something by how it makes me feel and sometimes, they hit so close to real situations that those feelings are exaggerated by huge amounts.

You do know that Patrick Weekes also cried while writing this romance don't you? Some people are able to feel things very deeply, I'm one of those people and I've never been so grateful to have that.  Like the OP I've also experienced a similar situation, it brings back feelings long forgotten...those feelings hung around for a good few days after I completed my first playthrough.  I admit that I don't really understand the jealousy aspect, but to state that you want to "slap some sense" into people for having strong feelings is beyond me, it's called empathy, it's very human.

I don't get it. Maybe because I didn't romance Solas

The only times I was really shaken up about a game was when Mordin  died (best character development) and meeting papa Cousland during The Gauntlet quest in DAO

You would get it if you were capable of developing sexual attraction/attachment/feelings for a video game character....

And believe me, it sneaks up on you. I'm battling to do that irl let alone in a friggin' video game. But what can I say? BW created the perfect woman for my tastes and preferences... my one true love. (who, by the way, isn't friggin' real!!!)

The same thing happened to the millions of Solas fangirls that exist on this forum.

Who can blame them, though?

As much as I dislike him (because he disapproves of my characters' breathing) I can see the appeal. He's charming, intelligent and has a mysterious way about him. Believe me, mystery picks up chicks. ;)

Some people just react more emotionally. I wasn't torn up about the romance with Solas, but I am still mad at him. On subsequent playthroughs, I refuse to talk to him, just run through his room to turn in research items. And, I won't invite him to go exploring. Take that, you big bully elf. I am sure he is puzzled by my disdain ...

I had no idea about that. Interesting.

Still, I agree with you. If anything, it means the romance actually means something to players.

Tell me about it. I'm still angry at the Alistair romance. I didn't want him to have a baby by another woman, especially since I couldn't give him one since we are both Grey Wardens, but what other choice did I have, if I wanted us both to live? And really didn't want to give Morrigan the satisfaction of getting the OGS. What really pisses me off is, I found a video on Youtube yesterday that has cut content of Alistair and Loghain together in the party at one point. fucccc. Why didn't they leave that in so I could throw Loghain at the Archdemon, ugh.

Edit: I loved the Solas romance too, though. I initially was romancing him but then went for Cullen, then when I saw the post-credits scene, I was like 'damn, I should've stuck with Solas'. So yeah, second playthrough, I went with him and loved it so much more than the Cullen romance. Idk why, it was just so much sweeter. The Haven Fade scene, the one after you do his personal quest, the one on the balcony, all perfect. I wasn't even sad or angry when he broke up with me, in fact I laughed when it happened because of the whole 'you have slave tattoos' (and doesn't he tell you I love you in that scene as well? I forgot). He just picked such a random and dopey moment. Also, I know 100% that it is not over between us, I know Bioware has more coming, so I can't be sad because I know what the future holds... Least I hope I do.

I hear they have cookies.

Yes they do. Also blanket forts, tea that Solas doesn't drink, fanfics, art and of course theorycrafters.

I thought Solas's romance was well done.

I think that one part where he takes you to the fade in your dreams in Skyhold or you meet him while you're both dreaming whichever should've been romance exclusive. It didn't make sense when my other inquisitors experienced that.

The vallaslin scene. omg best ever.

Cassandra romance is my favorite.

Solas right after. But Cassandra is mostly because I love her so much, Solas is deffinetly the most intense.

The others are ok. Blackwall and Dorian are very interesting but didn't move me as much as the above. Bull well, I'm not into his stuff... Sera is AMAZING, I loved her romance, but still, not a Solas. Josie was funny, so sweet, I laughed at the duel, loved it in a light way.

Oh jeez, really? I can't believe people are actually this broken up over their fictional romance life.

My thoughts exactly...

Fans like that are the main reasons why most celebrities have armed bodyguards.
