Definite lump in my throat over the Solas romance. So heartbreaking.

I don't get the "it's just a game" replies. It's not just a game, it's a story you're participating in. So it makes you feel stuff. Just like films can, or novels. Escapism, catharsis. Look them up.

I'm a sucker for tragic, star-crossed relationships in stories - saying that, I'm hoping for DLC where I'll get a happy ending.

 Some people just condescendingly say "it's just a game" because they like the feel of being on their high horse acting superior and cool about it, either that or they don't know how to immerse themselves in a story, which I  just feel sorry for them, really

The goal of RPGs is just that, be a tabletop or videogame: to immerse yourself in your character and that situation

This is editorial, but: would it better to be ashamed of these feelings and to hide them? Is that a sign of intelligence or wisdom?  It does not seem so, to me, but I am interested in your thoughts.

Ashamed? Never. However, it may not be wise to bare your soul in a place like this. I would rather go to one of the character threads in the story and campaign section, people are more likely to empathize there.

Oh jeez, really? I can't believe people are actually this broken up over their fictional romance life. 

If scripted/fake dramatic scenes weren't capable of making people emotional then that entire genre just wouldn't exist.  Hell, if people were incapable of getting attached to fake characters then movies, TV and video games in general likely wouldn't exist as they do today.

I'm kinda iffy on Solas. Yeah, I know it's supposed to be emotional and heart-wrenching, and it was... but that was because he was wearing my best light armor and carrying my best staff.

 

It isn't that I don't have a soul or because I don't feel empathy. It's just that not everyone reacts to the same emotional content the same way. It was the same with Fenris. Everyone was going mad over him and I just didn't get it. Not saying that Fenris and Solas are in any way similar! It's just that my brain clicks with some characters better than others. Sadly, a lot of the characters I like the best - and who I empathize with the most - wind up being reviled by the fandom. Which is kinda sad.

Asking for a patch? Seriously? You should appreciate that you had such a meaningful experience rather than trying to artificially prolong it.

I'm probably going to offend a lot of people but god damn is this sort of thing making me want to just slap some sense into someone. 

I am not offended, but what makes me want to slap some sense into someone is their conceit that all human beings should respond the same as they.
