Spell Purge:Spell Purge now deals massive area damage when dispelling barriers and other beneficial effects on enemies.

 

What is the exact meaning of dispelling? if an enemy has 30000 barrier value and i dispel 20000,do i get those bonus?

Or i have send their barriers to 0?

 

i hope it's not the second option because honestly i don't know how much barrier i dispel using Dispel and Spell Purge and i prefer to use them when enemies have full barrier to dispel more than i can and not wait their barrier is almost over and then use my abilities.

it would be different if i knew i dispel 30000 and if i could check the current value of enemies' barrier so i can wait the right moment to use abilities

An additional question about Dispel. Enhanced Ring of Dispel adds 30% to duration, and I don't think basic Dispel spell has anything with a duration. Does the ring affect damage bonus of the upgrade? Or is it another useless item?

I don't think it's that complicated - the dispel effect appears total, and the upgrade percentage effect appears to be working on your own stats I.e. 50% barrier is 50% of whatever your barrier rating would be on a barrier cast.

As for the ring.... I'd assume it would be just for the upgrade. Standard dispel has nothing to increase.

When you use dispel on deamon rage (or anyone else) you don't dispel all of his barrier.That's why i'm asking how they work

That's not what I meant, the dispel effect appears binary I.e. You dispel something or you do not, not whether the dispel itself always wipes out the total barrier. There's a 'dispelled' debuff that flashes up to indicate success. You don't get varying levels of 'shield damage' back as buffs.

So,in case of spell purge and 600% damage....i do that damge to barrier if the dispel itself doesn't destroy the barrier. It's only a most powerful dispel.

And ... doing 600% damage to barrier it would be interesting to knw what happe in this case

 

Enemy barrier 2000

Spell purge dispels barrier for 1800

600% weapon damage = 800

 

Can i use 200 of that 800 to destroy the barrier and remaining 600 to make damage to HP?

Yes, they can take damage to their health after the barrier is down.  Also, try using Spell Purge on a stunned or sleeping enemy.  You're in for a surprise lol.

oh awesome. In MP, the alchemist with knockout bomb can put the RT Commander to sleep....so if a templar were to use spell purge....

You can set yourself up for this very nicely as a rift mage on SP, it's awesome because you can easily spread AoE sleep and dispel can AoE detonate, and it's FF safe. The only problem is pesky companions combo stealing. Dammit Varric, stop longshot spamming!
