So ive fought and killed 3/10 nw, and this one, i wasnt gonna try.. In Emprise Du Lion i fought the lvl 23 Boss.. I was lvl 20.. Wow, was that one an epic fight.. Im only on Hard :(, still my 1st playthrough at 150hrs.. My Qunari Storm Mage Necro, with Cass, Sera, and Solas.. (not my preffered party, but eh) he beat me the 1st time easily..

I was unprepared for his powerr.. So i reload, and give it another go.. 45mins in, hes straddling 51k hp, and keeps spamming his stun, summon 3 Drakes, and full Guard.. Each time i would get his guard to 0, and the 3 Drakes down, he would hit it again.. After 2-3 tries, i start widdling away his hp about 3k each cycle.. Finally, hes at 3k, and i decide to burn verything, and ignore the drakes.. By this time, im completely out of all potions, grenades, etc.. All my characters are on their last sliver of health.. Luckly, 2 of us have barriers..

I get the killing blow, and have but 2 Drakes to finish.. As i deal with them, and begin to catch my breath, the adrenaline still pumping, i realize, THAT was the funnest ive had yet.. Man, was that a badass fight, of constant micro managing.. The bad views aside, that was intense!

What i wouldnt give, to actually have used those Dragon Runes, lol.. I have none!

I have no potions   :(

Edit: Well.. It now appears theres a THIRD High Dragon here.. How i walked past the 1st two, and to thw Strong one, is beyond me.. But inside these two citades, theres each a dragon.. Sigh.. Looks liek i got work to do!  Wish Bull would use guard.. he dies so quickly as AI

Yes there are three of them over there. You got the worst one first so, it won't be too bad for the other two. On the bright side, Bull will get some nice armor when you're done.

Yeah, honestly, there are quite a few cheezy ways to kill the dragons, but doing it properly was very fun for me as well, especially in the first playthrough :)

Do you have to fight them 3 in a row or can you fight one, then leave, re up on potions, change party members etc?  I am right around this same point Level 21 about 150 hours in.  I need more dragon bone to make my final weapons.

I prefer the cheezy way, but mostly because I don't have so much to play and I can't afford to spend 30-40 min in a single battle.

And BTW, apart from abusing Mark of Death, which other cheezy ways do you know that can get high dragons killed in less than... let's say 2 minutes?

You can fight them in any order, at whatever pace you want.  They're basically open-world encounters, no quest or anything that forces you to do them all in one run.  They all drop a lot of materials (14-20 bones/scales/webbings).

Hivernal is probably the easiest of the three, Highland Ravager is probably the strongest dragon in the game.

[Edit: Sorry, apparently Hivernal only drops 1-10 of each; level 19]

I enjoy watching them fly overhead as one crosses the bridge. Each a great encounter; have yet to finish the last one.

Recommend starting Dragon Hunting in the Wastelands; great introduction to the beasts and lore.

Yeah I was gonna take him down first.  I am done 5 of the 10.  Still got 3 in Emprise, the one in Western Approach, and hissing wastes to go.

Note - there is a quest called Breeding Grounds (or something similar) for the 3 Dragons on Emprise du Lion. You get it from the guy at Suledin Keep after completing the War Table Mission to fix The bridge. There is another one for Safe Passage, where you claim each of the towers after fighting Templars.

These quests are optional, but give you some extra XP. You won't get the quest if you slay the dragons or Templars before talking to the guy at Suldedin Keep.
