I was just running around in the Exhalted Plains, looking at the poor ruins of once lovely houses, and the Extreme Makeover Home Edition nerd in me woke up. How grand wouldn't it be, if after you've completed some key quests in the game, all the houses would be rebuilt and the Inquisitor could choose to buy the properties and rent them out for a little or alot of gold, kinda like you can in the Fable games. Not necessarily so that you can buy a home for yourself, but give the Inquisition more power over the people, and have the possibility to give the residents new homes, or deprive them of them, depending on what kind of Inquisitor you play.

I got so inspired I had to write this, just a thoughy that hit me. :D Thank you for reading and have good day!

Ps, sorry for possible type-o s, I'm writing this on my phone xD

It would make sense if all those people who move into an area after you "settle it down" at least were seen repairing those buildings ... rather than always just standing around doing nothing.

That's actually one of the things that slightly bothered me!

Also in Sarnia. You can choose for the noble woman to rebuild the village, but you never see the village actually rebuilt. Like... dude.. Why   <_<

well, i doubt we would be able to rent them out, as technically that land is owned by the orlesian crown and we would have to get land rights from them to do so...  as such i dont see that as a good move for the orlesians, offering troops and financial support is one thing, but giving up land where the inquisition can govern how it wants to?  bad idea, now maybe they loan the land to us to where we can claim taxes and such on it, is fine, as after all the war crap is over, it would return to the crown.  only payment the inquisition would have to fork over for it, would be the price of fixing the town.  other than that, i dont really see such a thing happening...  would have liked to rebuilt those homes in the hinterlands around fort conner too

Ugh, no. I hated that aspect of Fable.

It would be great to see the houses restored along the quest chains or whatever. Maybe set up an operation flag? At least this can show the inquisition was actually doing something in the area.

Well, sure maybe renting out, selling, owning etc. wouldn't work, when you start looking at it "realistically", I didn't mean that should be a necessary aspekt of the game in order to have the houses restored.
At any rate it would atleast be nice to see the landscapes "healed". I think it would add to the charm of the areas if the broken down houses and captured keeps would be completely rebuilt, as well as a full scale restoration of Skyhold. :)

This is a sandbox game that's lacking in (meaningful) sand, so I'm not adverse to this. However, I'm much more interested in being able to do something with all the keeps I captured. If the Inquisition is truly the justice league of Thedas, then we should have defensible strongholds in most regions -- not leftover ruins.

Although it's arguable that the keep in the Western Approach is too far from civilization to be worthy of resources.

Hmm, given my endless fascination with watching HGTV and shows about home renovation, I will admit that this idea actually appeals to me.
