The only feedback I have is that, instead of making challenge quotas per generation, do them per system.

It seems like there is some massive disparity between PC, XBOX One and Playstation 4 in terms of active players or connectivity based issues, meaning there is a massive disparity between what each system can achieve. Solution: Individual goals.

You may be right, though PC has varied dramatically these last 3 weeks, so hard to set accurately.

I will be brutally honest and say that I think it is a shame that we have split goals between systems in the first place. I get the entire concept of ingame tracking, and what not, but I really wish we had an overall community goal for all systems combined, rather than one for each system. If you are going to split it into Old-Generation and New-Generation, someone will always get shafted, and that is just... silly.

Dear Lord, please set a goal where teamwork is an advantage and not a liability.  Setting a condition that must be met by EVERY member of a party to have any player contribute to their personal or community goal?  That's a recipe for frustration and PvP negative sentiment.  Making EACH player who meets the goal add to the advancement of the goal?  Now instead of being worried that some idiot is going to screw things up for everyone, I'm trying to help my fellow team members to increase the reward, knowing that I get something, even if we don't succeed at full potential...

So, this weekend just made everyone play routine instead lol.

I actually ended up soloing perilous for the personal challenge on my arcane warrior because that's how much I hate routine.

Oh well. I just wish the rewards are better..

I hadn't really thought about it, until I read this, but it does kinda suck watching the PS3 and PS4 crowd celebrating in the forums about how they already hit the goal, when it's becoming increasingly clear that PC isn't going to make it again this weekend...  The reason I play DA:I and ME3 multiplayer is that it's co-operative.  I want to be part of a group, and gain benefits from team work.  This weekend, the goal makes trying to do it as part of a team a dicey proposition, because your success or failure is mostly dependent on getting a decent PUG, or just grinding on solo, at which point why am I in MP in the first place?

Last Weekend's was a straight competition.  Only one person was going to hit the 50 kills/15 killstreak gold medals, and everyone else was just along for the ride, hoping for an immortal medal as a consolation prize.  If you actually worked as a group, no one got the golds, just a lot of silver and bronze that said you all carried your own weight, and for that, you will all be equally punished.

Is there some benefit in it for EA to have the platforms competing with one another?  Or is it just another case of "We're too lazy/cheap to cross check the servers against one another every minute to generate a total" draining the fun from community at large?

It would be nice if the challenges weren't competitive, in nature, but encouraged more teamwork.

The goals do nothing but Promote Rambo style, solo play! This weekend, was another where max lvl 20 characters are flooding the beginner rank difficulty, and runnign as fast as they can to the end.. No treasure rooms, no clay pots, nothing.. Katari being most noticably with Charging Bull.. It is just not fun to play anymore.. I try to bump up difficulty, only to find that game after game is empty queues! 1 or 2 people total in the lobby.. Myself included!

Please put some kind of incentive to get lvl 15+ to stay OUT of beginner lvl difficuly.. Im seeing a dramatic drop in people playing, and these are some of the reasons why.. And this was during a weekend event.. Friday night, and all day today (saturday) so far! hen it should be at a peak population..

In all honesty, if the goal of the weekend event is not dying,

then it seems very logical to play in routine difficulty

or to be over levelled.

For the same reason, avoiding treasure rooms is a legitimate strategy to not dying,

though I don't feel I need to avoid them myself.

I've seen alot of people asking for teamwork oriented challenges, but have yet to see anyone come up with any ideas for said challenges. I would love to see challenges that encourage better teamwork, but I can't come up with any ideas that can easily be tracked. Personal challenges will always be something people solo. It's much easier to guarantee success when you're not having to rely on the unknown skill level of random players. I hope that minds more creative than mine can find a way to encourage better teamwork.

Regarding platform "competition", maybe add a 3rd chest for achieving an overall score.  So even if PC doesn't make their platform goal, their score would count towards the entire-DAMP-community score, and encourage people to keep working on it, even if their platform chest is a fail.

So for this weekend, it could be a community score of 400,000.  Say PC only manages 100,000, XB360 25,000, XBOne 115,000, they could still get carried by PS3 getting 40,000 and PS4 125,000.

But perhaps a better way would have been reach X points as a whole community, where at the result screen it was modified by number of players achieving no deaths (encouraging team play), and modified by difficulty (to play harder levels), e.g.:

1x immortal medal = 1 point

2x immortal medals = 3 points

3x immortal medals = 6 points

4x immortal medals = 10 points

then multiply by x2 for Threatening, and x3 for Perilous.

So a full team on Perilous working together could get 30 points, while a single solo Routine is 1 point.

If the Personal goal was 100 points, you could do ~4 Perilous full team runs, or 100 solo routines.

Would this encourage things along?

Not a bad idea, I'm just not sure if they have the metrics to track this that specifically for each player...  I'm mean they should be able to, but I wouldn't be surprised if they couldn't.

Even just making it "collect X # of immortal medals" would have been more co-operative.  If one idiot dies, we go from 4 pts to the goal to only 3, as opposed to from 4 pts to 0 as it stands now...  I have an incentive to play conservatively, and help my teammates stay alive, and PUGs with THAT ONE GUY don't leave me wondering why I'm even bothering...

... and yet people still found ways of wrecking the matches. As I explained to someone who was struggling just to get his individual chest completed, "Not dying is the easy part. Stopping people from opening boss chests and Ramboing zone 5 is the hard part."

The longest streak I had was 10 straight SR games doing just that. As soon as one of those guys dropped out and replaced by another pugger the failed games started again. It got quite annoying afterwhile that players seem to just knocked down playing reckless so I just quit after getting my alchemist banner. It kinda took the fun out of the challenge. What was more annoying than that "one guy who wrecked the game" was the one who wrecked it then dropped out immediately after dying/going down.

Stinja, great suggestion, and you just gave me an idea.

How about we get tiered rewards depending on how many stars we accomplish? That way, even if we don't reach the 5-star goal, we don't feel too punished for it. Makes us feel like our efforts amount to something. Maybe a Small Chest for completing 2 stars, Medium Chest for 3 Stars, Large Chest for 4 stars, and a Victory Chest (hopefully better than store chests) for 5 stars?

Good idea but I still think that it doesn't quite cut it yet. Take this weekend challenge for instance. PC managed to get 4 stars so far, 5 isn't doable in the time remaining. Now this took hard work by a lot of people over the course of the weekend. And that's supposed to only be worth 1 large chest? That's ridiculous. The challenge may say it's just 4 stars but what the community did is still a big achievement. I believe that they did what they could and the numbers are just chosen badly (nothing new from bioware).

Thats exactly how the community goal is working, only the personal goal requires everyone in the game to not die.

Or - it was set as a challenge.

PC was was very near the point for most of friday/saturday so I don't see it as not doable.

Not that we'll miss that Victory chest all that much, given the number of whines we've seen on the forums these past few weeks whenever the victory chest did get released :P

I've got a better idea: Accept your fate because your community's failure to attain the goal. A 10% damage increase to all factions for the rest of the week should be a fitting penalty.

Great idea. That way, people actually get rewarded for contributing. Although, I'm on PS4 so it won't affect me much.

Now with all that out of the way, throw your challenge ideas and feedback at me!

Add a guaranteed schematic and/or a guaranteed unique item with good stats to the reward and I will gladly farm operations till my eyes bleed.

Till then I have absolutely zero reason to bother with them.

Victory chests aren't rewarded immediately. They will be given out sometime today
