We do get to wipe out, albeit with assistance, the last remnants of the ancient elves. That has to be worth a lot more than a few miserable Dalish.
Technically you don't, since according to Solas there are more out there... undoubtedly saved for later games/expansions to wipe out... 
Normally I roll my eyes at people who wanna kill people and such, but then I realize...if being sociopath killer/ Genocidal maniac in a game keeps you level headed and not want to practice these things in real life. Then go ahead.

Why kill off elves that go off into the woods larping that they are somehow important and belong to a powerful civilization when you have the opportunity to kill of elvhans who actually come from that ancient civilization and prove that the Dalish have dedicated their LARPs to something incredibly insignificant?

I was upset I couldn't bang Tallis.
I don't see what the big deal is. ME3 Shep could commit genocide on multiple occasions and it's not like it wasn't an option in previous games.
