Why couldn't we kill the Dalish this time around?

HAHA the creator of the topic want to create a Pogrom in Thedas.

Rather: preserve the noble tradition!

Still, I wonder now, has any of those slaughterable clans actually featured children, or were they conveniently nonexistent during slaughtering? I know in DA:O Dalish origin you see some children, but I don't remember any in Zathrian's clan, when I think of it...

I don't see what the big deal is. ME3 Shep could commit genocide on multiple occasions and it's not like it wasn't an option in previous games.

I guess it's more a matter of the option always concerning Dalish. You can leave some other communities to die, true, (like Redcliffe) but to actively kill them? I'm pretty sure it happens twice in all the games. And both times it's Dalish.

Unless you count the cultist attacking you in Haven, that could possibly be included too. Still, it's two dalish clans to one cultist village. The former being literally 100% encountered Dalish... Until Inquisition, that is.

I wonder if they planned to include it as a tasteful running genocide gag, but decided against it in the end... After all, you do have an option to kill the (somewhat sacred if I understand correctly) golden halla AND desacrate the burial grounds. Seems like pretty good build-up for confrontation.

Man, folks really do like to get their rock soft at the idea of mass genocide.

"mass genocide" seems redundant.

There must have been, since one of them can unreasonably blame a former werewolf for Zathrian's evil several years later in DA2.

*reads OP*

:mellow:

Umm....right.

I'll just be over here killing demons, restoring order, sealing rifts, exploring ancient tombs, and hunting dragons so I can track down Wade and Herren for the laughs and high quality stuff.

I guarantee the majority of the people asking for this and joking about it are just doing it to get a reaction from Dalish fans. Nothing better to do.

Was upset I could not cut off her ears and toss her off a cliff.

Not endorsing genocide is a big step forward here. I'm all for evil options, but that's too far.

for (i=0; i<1; i=i) {

   printf("DEPICTION IS NOT ENDORSEMENT");

}

Tallis is disgusting.

I could get behind a Nug or even a beardless dwarf genocide...but not the dalish.

Why? They're the worst type of elf.

They're certainly implied to exist, but do you actually kill one while - you know - slaughtering the whole clan to recruit werewolves? Or does the game pretend there are no dead children in the process?

I don't even remember there being live ones, so I don't have a clue.  Given the ESRB (and similar rating authorities) would have had kittens, I assume the game just glosses over any child fatalities the HoF might be directly responsible for.

Because nobody cares enough about Orlesians or Tevinters to troll their threads.

The sad life of a chucklehead.

To troll their threads, or to even talk about them, lol. Snoozeville.

How does one start an interesting conversation about frilly cupcakes and how Tevinter stole most of their culture from elves. You know, without taking pity and laughing.

I think I may have found a new "HEROISM" or "Genocide fetishist"

Because people know Tevinter and Orlais aren't the epitome of perfection.

But not the Dalish. Nope. They can't be anything but perfect. These flawless beings who can do no harm. And even if they did, some nasty sexy shemlen must've been involved.

Little known fact, the Dales were wiped out because of how sexy human females are. True story (with some details cut out).

Killing Dalish is the best joke.

the only funnier joke is capturing the Keepers and making them tranquil.

Now that is is even darker.

Because they will live without tradition and magic will be forgot.

also have you seen the arms on dalish males?

these freaks must be purged

and my elfquistor will gladly help

You do realize that the Dalish haters are the ones who say this... right? And for the record, I believe it.

Not hard at all to believe the ancient elves killed her out of racism. And since I've actually been in a few of those annoying ass debates, I know this is bull and that the dalish fans just fight against the majority of what's said because people use the ancient elves' failings as an excuse to kill them and oppress them in modern times. Which is fucked.

Really, modern, ancient, it's fucked either way but after the war it's just what I'd expect. Now, there's absolutely no excuse. The humans just got too used to holding power over them.

Really, you cannot take any sort of high point in any of this. None of the dalish haters can.

Well, the problem with Dalish is that they're not actually perfect, but they do have enough of that annoying more-elven-than-youism for people to connect them to some of those tolkienesque demigods one can't argue with... And then all the frustrations born of years of encountering boring perfect elves (or even worse: considered perfect by everyone in-universe with possible exclusion of a dwarf or two) comes and kicks Dalish in the ass ;)

They pretty much get all the hate deserved by their imperfections in DA (which, admittedly, every nation in Thedas deserves and receives plenty... ok, maybe Ferelden is a bit different by virtue of being more or less Standard Fantasy Kingdom) but they additionally have the misfortune of receiving all the hate deserved by overly-perfect elves in other settings...

So, a bargain, really, two hates for the price of one ;)
