The Elven people in this game are just humans with anime ears.

I consider DA elves as having huge wasted potential (unfortunatelly, usually with emphasis on "wasted") but you're making me curious - since you seem to consider being "humans with anime ears" a sin... what would be those decidedly inhuman qualities you would expect to see in elves?

Taking a break, folks, until my current bad mood (nothing to do with you folks, just  stressful week at work) has worn off and I can read and respond without my irritation coloring everything.

Dragon Age elves bring absolutely nothing to the setting that isn't paralleled by another culture also in the setting.  Perhaps the only thing they have going for them is a magical heritage, which is pretty much the least unique thing about them, and could easily have been farmed off on any of the other cultures.

And which may not even be unique in the Dragon Age setting, given that humans and Qunari both come from somewhere else.

Okay we're just going to have to agree to disagree. Because you're obviously stuck on this idea, despite the evidence that stands against it. And I'm just going to let you go ahead and think that on your own. Because this can pretty much be said about any single race in this series. About really anything at all.

I hate it when that happens. Good luck cooling off.

The Elven people in this game are just humans with anime ears.

But the pointy-eared people in anime are basically derived from elves.

No you can't, because no race in thedas had the kind of civilization the elves once had, no matter how you trivialize it. Their roots can be found almost everywhere.

is this a joke about how elfroot is the only literal resource that is found in every single map?

Considering the elves have been fleshed out with each subsequent addition to the series, its kind of hard to say Bioware doesn't care about them. [Doubly so when you compare them to the ignored dwarves, or the lulzy trainwreck of the Qunari as of DA2/DAI.] You might not like the direction Bioware chose, but that's a different matter.

Thing is with dwarves we got to see quite a bit from Varric, bart, and Doogal and if you didnt have nath live in DAA you got the dwarvern brothers deep roads mission

dwarves are simple they like tradition and willful stubborn to let it go.

qunari... i dont even know man.

Between Sten / Kirkwall + tallis / Bull i dont even know what is going on with the qunari

the qunari seem to be having identity problems but different to what the dalish are having D:

I mean sure you can kill the sentinels but it just doesnt have the same feel as slaughtering innocent near defenseless people.

Well, suddenly the whole race realized they all had horns all along... all but Sten, I mean.

Either way, such things can be pretty traumatic, I bet...

Yeah, apparently NOT having something vaguely resembling dragon horns on your head is a scary concept for Qunari.

Which teaches us that Qunari warriors are apparently much braver than they seem. They literally invade a continent full of people who have no horns whasoever!

...or maybe hairs and helmets minimize the effect? Hey, guys, do you think that old know-it-all elves shaving their heads could be intended as some kind of natural Qunari repellent?

Well i think it's a pure bred qunari being born without horns thats scary

since qunari are bred for jobs and such

Actually Gaider said that Qunari born without horns are seen as having a destiny and are held to a high esteem because they are so rare.

Maybe without Dalish, because people don't care that much about elves.

Nobody argues when there's talk about the City Elves. Many sympathize with them. But the moment you mention Dalish, things go bad because some can't deal with anyone criticizing them.

Dalish chicks are hot.

Wade: Inquisitor bring me the horns of 20 Qunari and i'll craft you a legendary T4 Weapon whether it be a staff, a sword of what ever handedness, a bow or a dagger. or a mual or axe. But if it's going to be a maul or axe i also need the skull of a dragon for reasons.

I would ally with the qunari just so i could them for their horns.

More qunari in thedas? more stuff to craft from their corpses.

"He's got two children. One of them is a girl. Some people think he's got a destiny. Not me. I had a cousin once who won twenty consecutive games of quasar. Lucky bastard. I'd ask my cousin for a loan, but I wouldn't swear allegiance to him. Luck. That's all it is. Same for Guld."

Random thought concerning elven chicks. We know that human-elven child is human. It also seems that shemlen came to Thedas pretty much as one group - it would be very strange for this group to be racially (color-wise) diverse and stranger still for them to stay color-wise diverse after settling in - initially - relatively small area. BUT there were elves living in Thedas, and Thedas is pretty big from sub-arctic south to pretty hot Rivain... and generally the colors of skin match (darker in warmer north, with the exception of Tevinter full of white-skinned people, probably because it would be bad to have black slave owners AND/OR black slaves, somebody would surely be triggered).

Headcanon - most modern population of Thedas actually descends from elves more so than from original humans, they just don't look the part because reasons (magical genetics or Thedas).

Conclusion: Damn them hot elven chicks.
