So inquisition has DA2's problems and few strengths, but reversed.

DA2 had lot of stuff to do packed into tiny, over used maps that you constantly see. Lot of character development though, which was nice. Not the most interesting of casts, lots of whining between Fenris and Anders, isabela had basically the same personality as iron bull, so on, but it had some highlights with them over the years you spend with them which is kinda nice. A lot of the side quests had their own personality but never completely finished before you stepped into a completely different side quest, but each progressed through the acts.

DAI is like the flip-side of that. Huge maps that you constantly see are well put together and nice looking, but utterly empty of side stuff other than a few text prompts which just make the eyes roll or simply skip reading to get that extra exp. Add to that there's only one chance to really get to know the characters. the only other way is some lame fetch-quest like thing. Where DA2 was had too much to do in such a tiny area that made you feel overwhelmed and disgruntled, DAI has too open a area with little to fill it in other than lame MMO-esque fetch/kill set amount quests.

Dragon Age 2 Pros IMO.

1.) Blah blah better protagonist. Blah Hawke> Inquisitor.

2.)Better Side quests.

3.)Interesting plot concept.

4.) More interesting companions, with better stories. Not all, but most.

5.) Really good DLC.

6.)pretty hard combat on Nightmare.

Dragon Age 2 Cons IMO.

1.) Dull main story. The plot concept was poorly excuted.

2.) Kirkwall was bland visually. Just a bunch of grey stone walls.

3.) Being the Champion of a city means almost nothing. You have very little power and become eveyones errand boy. It wasn't half as awesome as being a Grey Warden or a Spectre.

4.)Boring female romance option. The really interesting females were off limits I.E Bethany, Aveline, and Tallis.

Dragon Age Inquisition Pros IMO.

1.) Great graphics. Better visuals.

2.)Better romance options.

3.) What little main story there is, is really good.

4.) Fun crafting.

Dragon Age inquisition Cons IMO.

1.)Wasted villain.

2.) Dull protagonist.

3.) To much filler. They really went overboard.

4.) Main story is to short.

5.) Lazy handling of Hawke after Here Lies the Abyss .

6.) To much left unresolved by the end of the game. If upcoming DLC takes care of this I'll change my opinion .

And suddenly, DA2 became a good game and Hawke became a great protagonist. Times change.

When DA4 launches, it will be the time to DAI be the better game and the Inquisitor the better lead character.

(By the way, I liked DA2 and Hawke.)

I should point out, I don't hate the Inquisitor. I just love my Sylvia Hawke and My Warden-Commander Stephen Cousland. The Inquisitor is alright, half the time; the other half it feels likes he's saying the same thing with variations.

@Bob walker. I've always loved Hawke. So yeah.

I loved Inquisition but DA2 remains my favourite.

DA2 had a lot of charm in its dialogue and characters, and I found that game much more relatable (as odd as that sounds) than Origins and Inquisition. Origins and inquisition are your cliche "You save the world from pure evil with the help of good people who may or may not have a bit of wayward past"

DA2 was just me and my friends adventuring and getting into trouble while having the best time of our lives.

After DA2 (lots of content crammed in small areas) and DAI (huge areas with little content), I seriously hope Bioware will get DA4 right and actually find a balance between those two things.

Hawke was always a great protagonist. Well the people who played female Hawke thought Hawke was a great protagonist, the people who played male Hawke were the opposite. It's amazing what a huge difference a voice actor can make.

Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.

While that is true, in this case it's not. If anything, nostalgia is a screening process (albeit a late one) that determines whether people genuinely hated Hawke/DA2, or whether they were just bullsh!tting. One thing stands though, many of those that said they hated Hawke/DA2 were just being little b!tches.

Is that true? Because I played 2 of each, and I think Hawke is a great protagonist. And honestly, the male voice seemed a bit more convincing than the female at times. Like during Merrill's romance, manHawke's way of saying "Merrill." and turning her head to face him worked perfectly, whereas femHawke's version didn't seem to fit the text or the action Hawke makes.

Overall, I think they both did an equal job of it. They certainly seemed to have gotten better at voice acting in Inquisition, since completing all of their DA2 lines.

Yeah, unlike Shepard, I didn't feel as much of a discrepancy between the two genders in terms of quality for Hawke. My favorite combo is snarky rogue female Hawke, since it seems more fitting with Bethany, and aggressive mage male Hawke, because it's two brothers at each other's throats.

That's a good analysis, though I loved female mage hawkes delivery in one particular argument with Carver.

I played the protective older brother warrior with my male Hawke, and that seemed to fit well for Bethany. But you're right that the two brothers at odds with each other is great too.

And yah, having Bethany sigh at her crazy older sisters antics is hilarious.

It has it good aspects, and I said so In my review back in 2011:

(1) Roleplaying was good.

(2) Combat and combat encounters were so abysmally bad that it actually impacts the whole experience.

(3) Visuals were unremarkable to ugly.

(4) Reused environments were extremely annoying.

(5) I like my Hawkes but wouldn't want every protagonist to be that defined.

DAI improved on all of these aspects. Roleplaying is not necessarily worse in DA2, it had a different focus: those personality choices had way more impact than dialogue options in DAI, but I have a greater range in DAI, which I prefer. As for the protagonist, I do like my Hawkes but I like my Inquisitor more. As for 2, 3 and 4, there's simply no comparison.

I loved my snarky female rogue Hawke. Which, by the way ashlover mark 2, is also named Sylvia Hawke (gawd, she was hawt!). Trying to sleep with everyone, and doing the unthinkable of friendmancing Anders AND "romancing" Tallis (I did end up siding with the templars, which forced me to kill him).

I actually found it more interesting to be a female mage. Especially a b!tch who kinda made you feel really bad for Carver. It's like, she's mean, but only Carver can see it. While everyone just blows him off as being a whinge. It's especially good 'cause here's this young man who's spent his whole life under the shadow of a woman - his sister no less - and he tries his hardest to feel respected, like he's not just his sister's brother. He failed pretty badly at it, which didn't help. His sleeping with ladies of the evening was kind of his way of breaking out. As poor a choice as it was.

In my game, it wasn't until I left him at home while Hawke went into the Deep Roads (which was her way of being mean to him on so many levels), and became a templar, managing his own path and his own fate. Ah... so many reasons to make him stay home as a mean-spirited Hawke.

I am the opposite. Personally I could not stand the female Hawke. (Didn't like male Hawke, much better) Her voice was horrible and sounded fake. I was so glad I could kill Hawke off.

Unless they pull a Harrowmont/Bhelen and totally pull the rug out from under that one. My Inquisitor has a shaman employed in the Inquisition shaking a bag of nug bones to predict the future as we speak.
