Vivienne. I might as well just stop recruiting her. I only had her in my party a few times in my first playthrough. Not much if ever since then.

Blackwall and Iron Bull so far. Cassandra just too badass.
Although I love taking IB for Dragon fights.
Cassandra is the boss dragonslayer, even with a botched build, she brings the pain to every worm fight!

That depends on which spirit mark - he has two of the same ability in the necro tree. One can be canceled, one cannot.
I've never had a problem switching to him and ending the spell. As for this other one that cannot be canceled...never had an issue with that either. And in the tactics menu, you can disable any spell you don't want him to use.

Sera, Viv and Cole.
And really it's not because I didn't like any of those characters it is simply because I liked other characters who already had those roles more ( Varric was always my rogue and Solas my mage )

Are you talking about the upgrade to "lingering mark" for that active power? I've never had an issue with not being able to cancel that.
Hate to derail the thread about this, but I think it's important if this is really the reason some people are not taking Dorian along. They're really missing out, IMHO.

Switch to Dorian and use the spirit mark ability again. It -should- be glowing if there is an active dead enemy lingering around. Selecting it again will make them croak... a second time... immediately. It's like walking bomb in that regard. You don't -have- to wait for them to die to blow up. Simply select it again while and they take a chunk of damage.
So yeah, if that's the main reason you don't want Dorian, you're missing out on a lot of priceless banter for no reason
I love the way his AI control usually casts this on the last surviving mob.....Duh!!

Iron Bull and Cole. I'm a DW Assassin; there's no room in my party for another Melee DPS or another Assassin.

Solas, Bull, Varric, Blackwall, Cole. They could magically disappear from the game and I wouldn't shed a single tear.

Yeah, that's pretty much the way my bench-warmer is chosen. When I ran a Rift Mage, I didn't bring Solas out much. Now that I'm running a Champion, Blackwall stays behind a lot. I love both characters, but I try not to have so much duplication.
It's worse with the DW rogue, though. Two tanks or two mages in the party at once is fine, but you really, really don't want more than one DW rogue in the party. It's a good way to do a lot of damage, but it's a good way to die fast, too.

Sera is probably my least used. I bring her to High Dragon fights and sidequests, but I don't see the point of taking her anywhere with significant content.

I never use Vivienne because she's a b*tch with few redeeming factors in my book. I initially used Varric quite a bit, but he's basically the same character from 2, so I don't use him much anymore and finally, Blackwall. I rarely use him unless I'm collecting a Warden treasure.

I do not use Dorian at all. I don't like him. I didn't even recruit him in my 2nd and next playthroughs.

Cole is used the least. That is because i am a DW Rogue Assassin. So he is redundant. I also use Cass as my main tank so Blackwall stays home a lot. That may change as I progress and Blackwall becomes more effective as a tank because of his specialization. Solas and Viv split time as my primary mage and Dorian sits home a lot. When I need an archer, I always go Varric, even though Sera can be more effective, because I personally like Varric a lot better.

Vivienne, not sure if she counts because I dont even bother to go to her recruitment quest.
I recruit but never use Iron Bull and Blackwall, the others are fine.

cole, sera then vivenne. im a rogue myself so...
cole is unique but ultimately boring/predictable, same with sera. I know they will just spout nonsense.
I mostly take people due to RP, so blackwall for grey warden stuff, varric for red lyrium, dorian for venatori etc etc.
Vivenne i think i used only took for orlais party part and mage quests.

Sera and Vivienne.
Sera because well. . . if the party banter bug hit only her, maybe I'd take her with me more, and Vivienne because I find Solas and Dorian more useful.

I'll list my companions in order of usage - from least to most:
Rarely, if ever, selected:
Cole
Vivienne
Blackwall
----------------------
Taken along from time to time:
Dorian
Sera
Iron Bull
----------------------
Frequently chosen - rare to be left out:
Varric
Solas
--------------------
No-brainer, go-to character:
Cassandra

Depending upon my class, my teams tend to be comprised of Cassandra, Dorian, Sera, and Iron Bull. I blend the other five in on some quests, but the four that I mentioned get used the most.
That being the case, I'm going to have to do one playthrough and stick solely with Cole, Vivienne and Blackwall from start to finish?

Vivienne, Cole and Blackwall.
I don't pick Blackwall because I love having Cassandra around, but if I can make a party work with him or her using 2h, I might go with it. I don't dislike him at all.
I don't pick Cole because of similiar circumstances; usually I either play a rogue, or I have Sera or Varric (or both) along. Cole is fun, and I would love having all three around, but again, class limitations.
I don't pick Vivienne because of her personality. Maybe one day I will make a character that can tolerate her from an in character standpoint, and suppress my own dislike. ![]()

Has to be Cole for me. There's frankly little to no reason he's needed in combat.
I generally alternate between the others.

I recruit but never use Iron Bull and Blackwall, the others are fine.
If you never recruit Viv, does that mean she is has no chance to be the Divine?

Viv and Sera
Reasons?
Viv: Because she's a stuck up b***h. She has her nose turned so far up she'd drown when it rained. She is constantly trying to find a way of picking on one thing or another about anyone and anything like she is utter perfection. I don't like that kind of people in real life and refuse to be around them. So I refuse to be around someone like that in a world where I venture into to escape real world BS.
Sera: Confusing and annoying as hell. She's worse than Cole with how she thinks.
=======================================
My typical group build is:
Mage: Blackwall, Solas or Dorian, Cole
Rogue: Blackwall, Solas, Dorian
I always like having 2 mages, rogue and a tank
I prefer Blackwall's spec instead of Cassandra's. And unfortunately Bull gets set out because he's squishy. If it wasn't for that I would probably use him more because I love his party banter. And Cole I just make into an Assassin Archer because as melee he's squishy like Bull.

Posté 31 janvier 2015 - 05:58
Iron Bull because he's way too squishy for such a big guy and I generally like running two mages so if I'm the archer rogue and I'm only having one warrior, it's not going to be the squishy two hander.
Vivienne because she annoys me.
My faves are Blackwall, Dorian and Solas because the banter is great. Solas and Blackwall have this 'kids these days' mutual respect thing going, Blackwall and Dorian start off antagonistic but eventually become friendly and Dorian and Solas alternate between nerding out about magic, picking on each other hilariously and Dorian putting his foot in it and Solas generally being politely neutral in his responses. Dorian, you sweet summer child, don't talk about binding spirits to the fade nerd who likes spirits. Solas, thank you for your forebearance.

Iron Bull. Eventually I stopped taking him anywhere that wasn't his companion quest, where thankfully everything is underleveled for him.

I must be the only one who find Vivienne hilarious even when she is down putting others
She is bad ass as Knight enchanter and Cole is awesome as rogue archer with his assassin skills. I just craft Cole's bow with "gain X guard on hit" and he is good to go.
