I don't particularly like the songs but... "Sera was Never" for sentimental value.

I also had Sera was Never on repeat whenever I went to see her for a smooch or admire her beauty... I dunno if it's a bug?

I just put it down to Maryden having the hots for her... poor Maryden.

I like "Sera Was Never" as a song, but after the millionth time of Maryden playing it ever single time I go into the tavern, I sometimes want to re-enact Animal House and smash her lute into tiny little pieces...

Samson's Tale is tied with the English version of Empress of Fire. The French version of Empress slightly edges out those two.

My favourite is 'Enchanters'

Why?

Because I like the Woodstock atmosphere in it. Some of us -believe it or not - actually experienced the sixties.

'Sera' and 'Empress of Fire' are my next choices. The french version of 'Empress of Fire' that is.

I like that one song which melody reminds me of "She moved through the fair", but unfortunately I don't know its name,

mine is enchanters followed by sera.

This!

I much more like the a cappella versions of most songs. The bards actual have no instrument and the lip syncing is perfect.

Empress of Fire.  So melancholical ¿?.....     It goes through my senses.

I spend more time in the tavern of Skyhold than at the wartable, because of the music ;)

Once We Were followed by Sera Was Never. I love Once We Were, such a brilliant tune.

Agreed with those who like the Sera song.  It's definitely catchy.  I was pretty neutral on the songs for most of my first playthrough (they were mostly just background noise that I didn't pay attention to), until the Sera song first came on.  It definitely got my attention and, the next time it came on, I made sure to stop talking to Bull and go over and listen to it.

Oh, Grey Warden,
What have you done?
The oath you have have taken is all but broken.

All is undone,
demons have come,
to destroy this peace we have had for so long.

Ally or foe? Maker only knows.
Ally or foe - the Maker only knows.
The stronghold lives on and the armies reborn,
compelled to forge on what we will become.

Can you be forgiven when the cold grave has come?
Or will you have won, or will battle rage on?

Oh, Grey Warden,
What have you done?
The oath you have have taken is all but broken.

All is undone,
ash in the sun,
cast into darkness the light we had won.

Ally or foe? Maker only knows.
Ally or foe - the Maker only knows.

The stronghold lives on and the armies reborn,
compelled to forge on what we will become.
Can you be forgiven when the cold grave has come?
Or will you have won, or will battle rage on?

That or Empress of Fire

But I'd really want to hear this sung:

Oh!
The best of us ran when the dreadnought was sighted!
Nuggins, Nuggins! For he heard the call.
Tripped nine Qunari, and that's why he's knighted!
Nuggins, Nuggins! As brave as he's small!

Oh!
A shore full of pirates, the worst set to happen.
Nuggins, Nuggins! His heart pure and true.
Tripped him an admiral, now he's our captain!
Nuggins, Nuggins! For me and for you!

Oh!
The blight was upon us, and we found no pardon.
Nuggins, Nuggins! Now he'll make a stand!
Tripped up the darkspawn, and now he's a Warden!
Nuggins, Nuggins! For all in the land!

Oh!
Paraded through Kirkwall as hero and winner!
Nuggins, Nuggins! Stubborn and vicious!
Tripped up a viscount, now he's for dinner!
Nuggins, Nuggins! Of course he's delicious!

It scans pretty well to Chastity Belt, the old SCA standard, especially if you add "Brave as he's small, nonny nonny (x2) (or equiv, for subsequent verses)  and repeat the last line to make the chorus scan.  Last verse is a bit of a wrench, though.

I should like to add that as much as I love the tavern songs --they're gorgeous, each and all-- I associate taverns with rather more bawdy or comic entertainments.  After all, if you're an Inquisition grunt coming in off a hard patrol, looking to drown your sorrows in amber fluid and forget the parlous state of the world for an evening, the last thing you want is a dirge about how everything is going to hell in a handbasket.  Sera Was Never seems to me to be the only offering even remotely in this vein.  But it gets to be a bit much, on rapid rotation like that.

So, I tend to hum Andraste's Old Mabari and Nuggins, as described above, just to make the pixels in the tavern feel better.

"I am the one" because of that DA:O nostalgia and partly because of that it's the only that's really stopped me in my tracks and gotten me to listen to the whole song. Even in the simplified tavern song version it's beautiful.

Glad to see I wasn't the only one. I thought the songs were okay-ish to pretty decent, but totally not fitting the mood one usually associates with taverns. Songs like 'The Cat and the Moon'

'The Tale of the Nuckelavee'

or 'Söldnerschwein' (''Oh it's fine to be a mercenary swine', https://www.youtube....h?v=IhTfr6EHF9M)

Having said that, the only song that 'got lodged in my brain' is 'Enchanter come to me'. Ironically, I don't like that one that much. Classic case of the 'song I don't get out of my mind and I want it to bugger off but it refuses to... :( .

Either Nightingale's eyes in French or Sera was never in French. I could sing them all day.
