So it got me thinking to rethink Inquisition in such a way that the mechanics could be used for incorporating micro-transactions. Here is what I think a freemium version version of DA:I would look like:
-Speeding up War Table missions by paying 500 gold for each 30 minutes of wait time. The player would have to pay with gold he/she obtained throughout the game or buy gold packs similar to the multiplayer.
-Buy extra Inquisition perks for 4.99 each.
- Tier 2 and 3 rare crafting material packs for 3.99 each containing 30 items.
- Tier 2 and 3 rare schematic packs for 4.99 each containing 5 items.
-After every death the player is given the option to restart from the last checkpoint by paying 5000 gold or waiting 30 minutes to "recover" his/her party. Or to skip to the checkpoint before the last one.
-After every successful mission, the party takes weapon and armour damage. The player has to wait 30 minutes(and multiplied by the level of the player) before he/she can start another mission. He/she can of course skip all this for 500 gold(and multiplied by the level of the player).
-Buy a Power pack for 4.99 containing 5 Power points.
I know some of these seem pretty annoying. But some packs could be useful for those with less time. I'm pretty thankful that bioware didn't do this with the SP. Two thumps up for them.

You have been looking at the horrors EA inflicted on Dungeon Keeper and Need for Speed haven't you ?

They have their optional micro transactions in MP already. That's where they should stay.
Besides I can already speed up war table missions with a simple ALT-TAB adjust computer clock. Takes 5-10 seconds

No, no, no, no, no NO. This is exactly what's wrong with today's gaming industry.
Instead of realizing that 15-28 hours might be a tad too long for a text quest, a company should charge money to make them shorter? This sets such a terrible precedent. It's pretty much telling the company that you're willing to pay them money if they fix in game problems that can easily be set for free.
What's next? Pay $19.99 to resolve the Mage/Templar conflict peacefully? Pay $29.99 for a better boss fight with Cory?

Have you thought about playing a different game?
I don't want them myself. But it's an interesting thought on how single player games can become in the future.

And there are plenty of games out there that let you play the way you want to play. I hope there is never a BioWare title with anything you suggested.

why bother with any of that when cheat engine exists? The crap I don't feel like putting up with in game I just work around. I play dragon age to hear the dialogue and see different bits of story and experience actual gameplay, I don't play it to spend hours gathering resources and hoping rng gives me that fade touched item I want.

I absolutely love Inquisition! Having played it, I can't help but feel that the game was originally designed with micro-transactions in mind. A lot of elements and mechanics feel reminiscent of a freemium title.

Seriously? No just no! I really hope they never do this because not all of us have endless wells of money to spend. Some of us get enough of that money farming racket on mobile apps we really don't need it in games like this too. ![]()

as much as i love DA, if any of the installments became freemium titles, it would be the one thing to kill my love for the game. i absolutely hate freemium games with a passion. i'm wondering what the op was smoking.

You know, it's really not a bad idea. What if you had to pay gold to unlock additional bonus conversations with your party members? It wouldn't take away from the game, but instead be rich lore bonus content. That or there could be voiceovers for codex entries.

sorry, but that's an even worse idea......
in my opinion, interactions and conversations with companions should never be a premium feature.
