I just started playing multiplayer, been about 3-4 days. I'm new, and i can already see the glaring issues with balance.
So far I got an Archer, Arcane Warrior, Elementalist and Katari to level 20.
As an Arcane Warrior and Elementalist...Perilous was an absolute joke for a team of mages. Groups in zones 1-4 drop in 5-10 seconds. I have some level 18 grey staff with a master spirit rune on it and the same original armor, no rings, no amulet, no belt. All mage party, who needs a warrior? Who needs a rogue really? Mages are masters of AOE and have the best team aoe/utilities (barrier, firestorm, static cage, pull of the abyss, etc) and this game in it's current state is nothing but AoEing over and over. If you can't aoe, pff, don't bother coming in perilous.
Katari...wow, I love the look and style of two-hander, i played single player all the way with 2 different characters as two handed warriors...but man, they're lacking in every department in comparison to the mages.
I even had a technically better weapon on my Katari (blue with % unbowed on hit) than my arcane warrior (grey weapon)
-To the Death is a non-passive activated skill...which is (sort of?) a warrior's version of Fade Shield, except it sucks in comparison because it's on a cooldown and it takes up an ability slot, but it does give a significant damage boost to the zone 5 boss, that's it. Damage bonus is kinda moot otherwise due to things dieing in 5-10 seconds. Fade Shield is much better because it's always on, makes you invulnerable in packs of enemies and doesn't take up an ability slot.
-Shield Wall/Block and Slash - This makes me sad. Another skill to "build" guard that takes up a slot. These skills are useless to me because my damage has to stop while i activate these plus it makes you a sitting duck more or less, the guard gained is usually just negated for being an idiot sitting still in the battle field. Again, Fade Shield...it's passive, doesn't take up a skill slot, this does.
-Barrier is just flat out stronger than guard. To have it passively regenerate when Warriors have no such equivalent skill (they're supposed to be the melee combat masters, they're not)
-Fade Step: LOL. NO MANA COST EVADE on short cooldown, hahaha. Warriors are crying.
There is no reason to take warriors into Perilous. My all mage party was the best Perilous run I ever had, and it was just some PUG.
And also, when there is a perilous run with NO MAGES...LOL. Have fun with that in a PUG...unless you're super organized over voice chat or have super sweet gear/stats. Low geared Mage team > low geared Warriors/Rogues
