If you mean Crimes & Punishment then yes, that's a Sherlock Holmes game that look intriguing beyond any other game based on the character.

I think the testament of Sherlock Holmes is the better game, but any really. They're legit adventure games.

None of them have seemingly done real justice to Conan Doyle's character, but Crimes & Punishment is looking up from what I've seen. It could potentially be the Arkham Asylum title that Sherlock needs.

Did you play The Testament of Sherlock Holmes? I thought it was by far the best.

Sherlock is a conniving sneakster who seemingly does very shady to illegal things, for little seeming reason.

I kind of stopped playing the Sherlock Holmes games when they took that supernatural bent, but I have to say that Testament does a really, really good job of portraying Holmes.

Crimes and Punishments is a different kind of game. I've heard that it's big on a sort "choice" type of mechanic, which is interesting. However, I've heard that there's no real overarching plot to it, which is bad.

Crimes and Punishment is based on the several different novel collections of Conan Doyle's character, so of course there isn't any real overarching plot, there never has been with Holmes. It's interconnective stories, framed through several different cases with some of his most cunning adversaries. Crimes and Punishment is heralded for its clever puzzle and investigation design, which is what I like about it. It feels like a mix of the good parts of L.A. Noire with the mystery of the novels, which is good in my book.

It also utilizes a unique interrogation mechanic, where Holmes would use his cunning detective skills to quickly deduce a set of circumstances in accordance with the clues he's found, somewhat similar to that of Benedict Cumberbatch's modern Sherlock.

Hmm, I hadn't heard that it was lauded for the puzzles. Thanks.

Oh, it has -- I recommend checking out Polygon's review of it. They delve into the aspects that speak wonders about the game.

EDIT: I don't know if they (specifically) were fond of the puzzles but from what I've seen it's looking better than your average puzzles of modern adventure games, and aren't solved through some bizarro logic.

I definitely plan to get it, I'm just waiting until it gets cheap.

Fun fact: Every publisher they went to told them to make their protag male and SE was the only ones that said they could make whatever protag they want.

It's amazing how this industry is getting away with blatant sexism, and has been able to divert attention away from itself by blaming the average gamer. Not that a lot of gamers aren't sexist, I'm just saying.

As I understand it there's a demo but only for consoles what is a shame. :(

Added Kotaku UK and Ars Technica reviews. Removed the quotes because I hit a limit and wanted to maintain a single format.

Looks good, oddly enough. Despite being a game revolving around a school, it looks fresh and new.

Curious indeed, paint me interested!

If I went by a lot of people I met on the internet, nearly everyone in the country is sexist by their standards(except for themselves of course), but yeah.  It does suck how a lot of publishers think having a female protagonist'll drastically affect sales, especially for a story-based game like this.  I do think this company probably found a good plan by working with a Telltale-like game, so the game's cheaper, they can sell it for less, and they don't have to worry as much about getting panned for gameplay.

This looks interesting. I definitely think I'll keep my eye on it and wait until all the episodes come out though. While it looks good, there is still plenty of time for this game to fall flat on its face.

Yup, that's the risk with episodic games although because they're episodic they should be able to use feedback to improve future episodes. Guess only time will tell.

Played through the demo last night, pretty sure I'll pick up the season pass now. The gameplay is pretty straight forward, time manipulation was pretty cool. Some of the dialog sounds a bit weird, but that'll probably get better as the game moves forward & the actors fall in to their roles. Liked walking around the school, the teacher giving a lecture on Hitchcock, & the use of "Vortex" as a name for a school club. Oregon had a music festival in the hippie-days called Vortex 1. It was something put together by the state to get the hippies out of the city & away from where the President was supposed to visit. Yeah, the state sponsored lots of music & drugs. I could see Oregon highschool/college kids adopting that name for a group, especially in an art focused school.

I finished the first episode last night, I enjoyed it. Perfect game for the obsessive compulsive disorder gamers who like to sift through every peice of content and possible scenarios. Well worth the $4.99

Is annoying that so many publishers think having a female PC will destroy sales when most people i know don't care that much about what the character looks like but do care alot about if the games fun or not, but it seems many publishers would demand that a female PC be changed to male otherwise they'd just refuse to release it altogether :?

Games will female leads have not sold all that well for the most part, I think mainly because a lot of those games aren't all that great. To me it seems like a self-fulfilling prophecy, but who knows maybe the Publishers have a better handle on the casual mindset than I do.

I think apart from Tomb Raider, games with exclusive female PC's get smaller budgets & usually don't get much advertising either, & then that's used as proof when it unsurprisingly doesn't sell well

I really am interested in this, just totally not a fan of the episodic model so will likely pick it up once all chapters are released.  Really impressed about its creativity though!!

Well I went and burnt through the episode 1. I was actually kind of mesmerized by parts of it. It feels like all the characters were interesting, whereas Remember Me was really only Nillin, Nillin's father, and Edge (kind of). It seems like more the game they wanted to make with Remember Me just having a ton of action silly stuff because that's what "games are supposed to be." I didn't really have a problem with the game portion of Remember Me honestly there was just too much psycho doctor psycho villain stuff going on that didn't really work for me.

It was interesting to have the choices and consequence applied when you don't really know what the consequences are, like, at all. I mean, the first one is basically you have no real idea what it means in the long term, nothing happens immediately at all, so you kind of have to guess more and actually take stances on things with less information. The characters are also not as easily pushed into corners, I know that's generic and yet it actually seemed more that way to me here than others which say they are going to do that.

I don't want to make this sound like an opportunity to hate on DA or something but honestly thought it was better than for instance DA:2. The French seem to know what they're doing with this kind of thing, would not be surprised if most people who actually started playing it kept playing it to the end in one go (like I did.)

Music was pretty much vomit though. Plus no way to know if it just drags and expires in the end because it's only part 1.

Also Chloe is kind of cute.
