Alright I am playing it and it is not bad. I just have problems with the dialogues "hella cash" really bruh bruh? Interesting mechanics though

Heh. Jim Sterling brought that up in his review. Sounds a lot like a late era Tom Wolfe novel. -_- In other words, an older writer following their assumptions of how teenagers communicate. That rarely goes well. >.<

Well, I was thinking I would cringe once they got to "cereal" and stuff like that, but actually the other character there comments on it immediately "cereal? Are you for real?" Or something like that...

The worst was honestly the very beginning, this photography teacher who was kind of attempting to make fun of old people trying to connect with younger people by being all "cool." The teenagers were fine in many ways IMO.

I like it, it reminds me of veronica mars. I might buy more episodes, cause the story is leaving me interested but...

Who came up with dialogue b? Does anyone actually speak like that? As in seriously? rawk on? hella? for reals? As in have you met anyone that talks like that? I had fun but this just takes me out of it. like seriously what the **** square

Currently, it seems like some crybabies are mad at the Facebook page for sharing Pewdiepie's playthrough. Some people...  Taking gaming way too seriously.

The game definitely has a teen drama feel about it. The first episode also feels very "piloty" (if that is even a word). I love the rewind mechanic. Overall, I give it a solid 8/10.

Reflecting on it now for a couple days... I really think it was actually kind of amazing, just one episode though, so it could go either way... but probably the most interesting game of 2015 for me definitely.

IGN has finally released its review, giving it a 6.5/10, what may be a bit odd considering IGN Italy gave it a 7.9/10. I'll update the OP accordingly.

A friend of mine was raving about it to me last night. She really dug it. Told me it blew away TWD s1 and TWAU for her, and she was fond enough of the latter to catch up on all the comics. She found the ordinary setting and down to earth dilemmas refreshing. Our tastes are not always in sync, so I may not enjoy it as much as she did, but now I kinda wish I could buy this game to see what the fuss is about. I refuse to buy episodes piecemeal and pay more in the long run, though. No choice but to wait.

I hope after hope that if it is really the case (on my Steam library, waiting to play it), Dontnod can maintain or even improve the quality of future episodes.

The concept intrigues me. Though I'll wait until the full game is out so I can tackle it all at once.

I'd say Dreamfall is much better than Life is Strange, and the former is particularly well regarded for its level-headed and somewhat authentic approach to characters, a certain mudainity. As Jim Sterling mentioned, a lot of the characters communicate entirely through obnoxious internet slang and patterns to a point where one would think.. Who talks like that? It's not on David Cage's level of awful honky boys and Ellen Page. It's still good though, it osses of potential and Dreamfall shouldn't be alone in this endeavor

Dreamfall Chapters tops my wishlist, actually. Followed by Telltale's GoT with LiS occupying the third slot. I will likely buy all three next time I can afford to splurge on games, so it is definitely up there for me. I have been following those games since The Longest Journey. It was such a pain waiting for Tørnquist to finish up on TSW so he could continue from where Dreamfall's annoying cliffhanger ending left off.

In any case, most games have awful dialogue where realism is a concern. That is not a dealbreaker for me. If anything may hamper my enjoyment it will probably be the setting and/or characters. I rarely get into stories revolving around teenagers in high school settings anymore. That stopped being interesting sometime around my mid twenties. While I don't expect to be as enamored with LiS as my friend, she thinks the story has potential. That piques my interest.

I quite like the direction of the dialogue. I think it reflects many current slang trends quite well.

Well, there are always exceptions to the rule, heh.

And yeah, Dreamfall is sadly episodic which is always bad because sometimes it just takes you out of it.. Alan Wake had its pacing constantly interrupted by cliffhanger endings on each chapter, then jarring summaries of what just happened in the last chapter in case you weren't already paying attention when playing! :/

Wow. Sounds pretty bad. XD Alan Wake is one of those games I bought on a recommendation that I never got around to playing. >.>

Anyways, I may end up waiting on Dreamfall Chapters in the long run. I'm ambivalent toward it. :/ On one hand, I want to see what happens next. On the other, I'm afraid of experiencing another burn. Sometimes I wonder if I should wait until it's all out, spoil myself on whether it's a cliffhanger ending or not, then make my decision on purchasing it accordingly.

I finished TWAU over a year after its release and around half that time for TWD s2. Just banged out every episode one night in an 8-9 hour marathon session. Makes it tempting to wait for everything.

Anywhozles, cliffhangers suuuck.

Were Dreamfall and the Longest Journey two different games? I just know I thought the Longest Journey was an interesting paralell to Life is Strange while playing Life is Strange, I ended up enjoying Life is Strange a lot more though, honestly I couldn't even get that far in Longest Journey. All the criticisms people leveled at Life is Strange based on it being a failed attempt to connect with people or artsy and all that applied way more to Longest Journey than Life is Strange IMO.

My biggest concern is that the other episodes will kind of make the game somewhat average when taken together, no way to know at this point though.

Although again I really couldn't stand the music in it, ugh.

The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, and Dreamfall Chapters are all part of a series based in the same universe. Or universes depending on how you look at it.

I'm liking Dreamfall Chapters, I think it's excellent.. the opening of the first episode basically answers one of the big ambivalent questions from the last game, which left some with a bit of feels.
Life is Strange is.. eeeeeeeck, it reeks a bit of the angsty teenage drama ala Gone Home but I like to think it's better than that, which it might be.

Temptation to buy rising. XD At least if big question being answered is what I think it is.

I loved TLJ. Of course, I also played TLJ two or so years after its release date. If memory serves, between Infinity Engine games. Back then, it shone brightly as this awesome little story with some lovable quirky characters. By modern standards? TLJ is a bit closer to old school adventure games than what we see today which may make going through it a little frustrating to some. Some of what it did has also been done better by other games since then. Back then TLJ was novel.

I think taken as a whole, TLJ and Dreamfall told stories worth experiencing. Unfortunately it's kind of like the old Fallout games in that I find it hard to recommend playing them to people who missed out before. TLJ just hasn't aged well. And since you disliked it to begin with, eh... yeah, maybe read a wiki or something and start at Dreamfall instead. :P You don't really need to know April Ryan's story to get into it--although it does provide context for her characterization in that game.

No idea if Dreamfall Chapters is a good place for newcomers to jump into the story.

Well, maybe, I don't know for sure but I might try one or the other at some point someday.
