Yeah I get the impression he's battling some personal demons.  He's paranoid and tightly wound, but he's not a bad person.  I've also noticed that most of the other characters, whiile they'll admit David is rather uptight, don't really dislike him, aside from Chloe.

Like I mentioned, episode 3 went out of the way to establish some new facts that implies he's in cahoots with him.

 Yeah, but the Prescotts manipulate a lot of people, including the principal.  Even that cop in the diner this episode is heavily implied to be there at Nathan's father's "request" to keep an eye on him

If it's a case of the Prescotts manipulating him then I don't see a reason for why Nathan would want to stick up for him when he's accused of being the instigator in Kate's attempted suicide. I like to think there's more going on, but certaily, Dave has his moments.

The episode has definitely left me thinking on a few things.

The photos seems to be gateways between timelines, and I imagine Max will use the one she took of Chloe and her father to fix things, let it all play out the way it should again. Incidentally, when I think about it, it's possible that Rachel and Max might be one and the same person; Perhaps explaining why they are never in the same place together, because they can't coexist, taking into account that Rachel is seemingly the polar opposite of what Max is..  and people keep mistaking Max for Rachel when wearing her clothes too, they oddly suit her quite well. It's just a thought best and not necessarily true at all but one can't help but wonder.

 

I don't think the new timeline would be permanent, if it did then it would deprive choice from you, undermining the whole theme of the game's story -- No, I believe that it serves as an ill omen of sorts, like the dream of a tornado by the lighthouse, to teach Max to teach Chloe that life could be worse and we make the best out of what we already have and move forward.

 

Chloe being in a wheelchair is most likely related to the whole 'cause and effect' concept, you prevent someone from dying and an equally terrible tragedy will take its place. Not so much time travel, as it is crossroads in the river, creating new leaks(new timelines) ala Stein's Gate or even like Mr Nobody in regards to the young boy's choice of whether going with his father or mother when they separate.

I'm almost positive the new timeline is not permanent

 

The teaser for episode four shows Max at some kind of party (the Vortex Club party?) And she's in her standard t-shirt and jeans.  Not the preppy-looking outfit she was in the new timeline.  

 

Incidentally, if I remember correctly, the last snapshot we see as the new timeline was forming appeared to be Chloe getting the keys to a car from her father as a birthday gift.  Might be the specific point of unintended consequences that put her in that wheelchair?  If her father died, she never would have gotten a car, etc, etc...?

 

As for Rachel, I'm wondering if she's the homeless woman by the diner.  Maybe Rachel found a way to enter the past as herself and stayed there?  Max can feel an odd connection to her if you choose to warn her about the tornado, after all

Something I loved about ep 3 is the effect it had on me when I was faced with

the chance to save Chloe's dad. If I had to decide whether Chloe's father should be saved or not from an objective point of view, I would've immediately said no. I have a very practical, logical point of view for time travel, as in I agree w/ anyone who speaks of the dangers of the butterfly effect and believe everything must happen for a reason, and therefore mustn't be changed.

But in the case of ep 3, all that logic went out the window. I was ecstatic to save William because of the effect that argument with Chloe beforehand had on me. I was so distressed with the way Chloe felt about everyone in her life leaving her that I didn't even realize that saving William was mandatory until after the episode was finished, because I didn't care, I knew I wanted to save him and didn't bother exploring if the alternative was an option.

For me, this experience is a prime example of how special and unique of a story telling tool video games can be. It is so easy to judge the choices and actions of characters we observe in movies/shows/books/etc from a third party's perspective. However, it's totally different when you are given player agency and can respond to fictional situations in the most realistic way possible because of the immersion of your own psyche into the story.

Interesting point, I hadn't considered that. Now I'm going to paying closer attention to every line uttered by the homeless woman. I'm guessing we'll be running into her again.

Yeah I'm impressed with a number of the theories here, a lot of them I hadn't thought of but make a lot of sense. (Homeless Woman, Rache/Max, David/Nathan)

Also I'm curious if Mr. Jefferson might be behind Rachel going missing, and if he has the same plans for Max since he seems dead set on wanting to declare her the winner of the photo contest even though she hasn't entered and is very late in turning in an entry.

Have to wonder if younger Max had her powers awakened when we briefly assumed direct control? She ended up abandoning Chloe anyway & somehow ends up in the popular clique at Blackwell. Seems a bit suspicious to me where she ended up. It was also interesting briefly seeing Nathan & Victoria being friendly in the NT. Maybe Chloe's behavior at Blackwell in the OT is part of why those two are so messed up, & we'll see very different versions of them in NT?

I wonder who the other person was at the pool. Someone comes in the back which alerts Max & Chloe, then David comes in the front... But that other person disappears.

Max's family moved away that year, so she didn't really "abandon" Chloe except for not staying in contact.  Which can happen to anyone for many reasons.  Perhaps in the new timeline they lost contact after whatever happened to Chloe?

 

As for her ending up one of the popular kids in school, I'd think Mr Price's death probably hit Max too.  She seemed close to the whole family.  Perhaps his death made her more introverted.  And in this timeline she was more outgoing and social?

 

I always assumed the other person was a second security guard.  Someone identified Chloe's truck and called David, after all.

Mr Prescott might be the actual date-rapist, or at least be heavily involved with whoever is drugging the girls? Perhaps he killed Rachel Amber when she threatened to expose him, which Nathan witnessed and that ended up traumatising him? If Nathan already had issues beforehand, seeing his dad either raping or murdering someone (or both), would probably cause him to totally flip his bin lid?

How I'm viewing things for future episodes.

So A: Allow William to die and Chloe become as she is, but on the bright side she has use of her body...

Or B: Save William and Chloe becomes a cripple.

My guess is Max Tells William everything and makes Max goes back to change it so his Daughter is okay. Tells Max to tell Chloe some loving words and such Chloe breaks down and cries, but is finally able to move on and she and Max live Happily ever after...my hope anyway.

I agree though i feel like it if we didn't it might be bigger twist but it would dramatically kill the replay value up to so far and i rather go back to rebel Chloe
