Since religion and faith seems to be one of the main themes of Inquisition, I've been left curious by what DA4 might have as it's main themes.

Since DA4 might bring the Qunari conflict to the forefront, I think a good idea for one of its main themes might be morality and personal beliefs (not just religious beliefs, but secular ones as well). One of the reasons I think this might be a good idea traces back to a complaint I once read about Inquisition's story, specifically the Mage-Templar War. The complaint had to with how while Bioware has done an ok job of showing how war can be horrible, they don't delve into why people would still go to war, despite its horribleness. DA4 could delve into why people fight and not just have them fighting for abstract and subjective ideas like "Muh freedoms". Having morality as a theme could also allow them to highlight its subjectivity and help make the setting a bit more morally complex.

So what do you guys think? Any Ideas of your own you'd like to share?

Threesomes or bust.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are people who would fight for threesomes.

That is actually an interesting question, not the threesome one but OP, that I hadn't really considered as I've been salivating for the games shift to Tevinter/Qunari region if not for the fact that based on everything it seems to be one of the more unique fantasy settings I've seen in a while.

After thinking on what we have been told and what have seen of the different sides of the conflict, I would perhaps personally go more with what does it mean to be free. The Qunari consider themselves to be free due to having a purpose, as they can be something within that purpose. The Tevinter themselves to be free and are seen idealistically by many mages. The islands are occupied, struggling to have some form of independence. Those who converted to the Qun of their free will have been put to the sword by their saviors. Those who refused to submit to the Qun were forced to do so.

So to me a potentially interesting story told in that region would be how can all of them consider themselves to be truly free, yet be so different in their freedom. Does that make any sense?

On another less serious note, I'm hoping the game is going to revolve around the calling/grey wardens/anderfels and not the tevinter/Qunari conflict.

I get what your saying, and it even ties back to the personal beliefs I was talking about. Freedom would be a good theme in the wake of the mage rebellions.

Freedom is a little overplayed though at this point.

I think the problem is that they've just thrown around the word "freedom" like a volleyball.

Yes and back to the bigger point, this past game had the freedom theme....
Yet not freedom for threesomes, no freedom to be evil, no freedom to make god babies...like come on all the good stuff.

The issue with morality is that it would allow for you to choose between being evil vs. virtuous (or neutral), which becomes a mess for bioware when they try to figure out the head cannon for that character.
AKA they won't do it.

It's a shame then, I really like stories that go into that type of stuff and make me reflect on my own ideas and beliefs.

Except I actually hope they move away from the Mage rebellions in the freedom discussions. In the Mage/Templar conflict theme was freedom vs danger. Mages want to be free, but in that situation they would be a danger to the people around them. As you already mentioned, the word freedom has been thrown a lot in the conflict, but more from of point of view a price rather than what does it actually mean. Even the Templars admitted that the mages weren't free, but for that it was a necessity for the safety for all.

With the Tevinter/Qunari tension you instead have people with very different what it means to be free with addition of slaves, who don't know really what it is to be free. That was something the really made Fenris work for me in such a deep level.

I see your point.

Honestly all I'm really hoping for is that they can at least make the story more thought provoking and interesting. Any theme would do, as long as it's interesting and well done.

In complete agreement. The thing is I felt DA2, and also ME3, were extremely provoking in their stories and tried to change the way Bioware has approached stories. As has been pointed out, even four years later we have huge arguments on things that happened in DA2 and who actually stood for the right. That to me was the greatest disappointment in DAI, as it really played it safe with the story, no matter how much I may understand why they chose to do it.

I just hope it would be less human-centered story this time but I'm sure Bioware is again focusing on humans ugh. We will be lucky if we even get races..

Some ideas where story could go:

1) Tevinter - Qunari war.

2) Somekind of adventure in Rivaini/Antiva (similar to DA2, not some epic world-saving story)

3) Nevarra

My hope is that Da4 is in nevarra and focuses on the impending civil war.  The pc would be more like a Hawk figure and ends up choosing who rules or takes the crown him/her self. Not sure how that would work if there are multiple races. During the game you would visit places in antiva and rivain.

I would prefer to wait to go to tevinter/ par vollen for DA5 because its seem fitting for the series to end ( if it actually ends at 5 games ) in the country that began it all.

But ultimately it doesn't really matter what order we visit the countries in as long as we visit them all. also it depends on what stories are wrapped in dlc for DAI

There's gunna be more than 5 I think. I don't think they will end the series until at least both of the last two blights are handled. Plus there is still so much more to explore. The calling, elven history, tevinter, whats beyond the ocean .... There is so much left in this world to explore.

I want to see the rise of the elven gods if we haven't seen that before. I think it would be interesting because I believe that they are something so different that nobody can imagine and when they come back everything will change drastically. So the story could concentrate on exploring the ways different people would react to them and what kind of conflicts it would cause. It would also be interesting to see how they would see the people who now live on their lands and what they think about them and the way things are.

I would also want to see that  problems are more closer to the player. For example Cullen has lyrium  addiction but it's somehow very distant issue. You see him sweating and he has a headache but that's all. I think it's hard to see how severe the situation is. I think the situation would have been a lot different if you could have seen him rolling around on the floor in pain because then you could have realized that his situation can really kill him. So I guess I also want that the world would be darker but with hope. For example you could also see how Cullen gets rid of the lyrium addiction.

They aren't Gods,  just people who sought the attention of god or gods after they felt forgotten.
