So, after my first playthought, and much thinking.... I can put the pleces together:

-At the end of DA2 and elsewhere it is implied that the mage-templar war is a golbal issue, spreading across all andrastian lands. Good, I get that.

-Now, I get that Fiona as grand enchanter is sort of a representative of all circles. She was elevated to that dignity in Cumberland. I'm not sure if that means she was first enchanter there or if Cumberland is like the main center of this cicle's confederation or something like that.

But the main thing I can't understand is: Who are the mages in the Hinterlands? Is Redcliffe supposed to be the high quarter of the mage rebellion in Ferelden, or all the south (Ferelden+Orlais) or all of Thedas? I'd assume the former is the more reasonable answer, but Inquisition seems to asume otherwise.

Same thing with the templars, all those in Theirinfall Redoubt supposed to coordinate the whole templar order acroos all of Thedas?

The point of my question is: it seems weird to me that by stopping the war in one region (the Hinterlands/Ferelden) all the war stops of a sudden,. Specially it seem odd to me the implication that Fiona is delivering the whole Thedosian mage rebellion to the venatori if we side with the templars, and vice-versa.

(Also, side question, is there any reflection in DA:I if your Warden in DA:O was a mage that requested morefreedoms for the Fereldancircle?

Just as the Ferelden mages followed suit when Free Marches mages rebeled, so too did Orlesian mages. The ruler of Ferelden (whomever it might be in your game) gave mages sanctuary in Redcliffe so, yes many mages from all over Thedas came there, or are on their way there. Fiona was Grand Enchanter and, spearheaded the vote to rebel in her tower, one of, if not the largest in Thedas.

Yes it's all of the Templars united just as the mages are. Same goal, so some form every part of Thedas are at Therinfall Redoubt. The ones there can, we assume, get word to the rest.

Thedas bows to the Divine and, with no Divine, end up bowing to the Inquisition. Of course whomever (mages or Templars) you don't recruit is not fool hardy enough to attack Inquisition forces so, you effectively end the war by making it a death trap were the opposition to continue attacking. With that done, the ones that haven't gone mad on both sides join you because, well the breach is worse that any petty squabbles they were having.

As for why so many go to the Venatori - Red Lyrium. Both mages and Templars use lyrium. Red is more powerful than blue and, who doesn't want power? Of course using the red makes you a slave to Corypheus but, most realize that too late.

Side note: No since whomever rules Ferelden gives mages sanctuary regardless.

Well, this might be irrelevent delending on Thedas demographics, but well, were I a mage fighting for my independence, say, in Antiva, I'd rather fight in my country than flee miles around. Besides, from many war table missions we know that there are considerable contingents of mages/templars elsewhere (e.g. some free cities); that's why that explanation doesn't satifies me.

And it's not a "one side of the war joins the inquisition, so the other stops attacking" the other rather stops figting. Consider a playthrough where the templars are conscripted by the Inquisition: in that situation, the common of the mages would have felt that they had actually won  due to their enemies dissapearance; thus no need to throw themselves at the hands of foreigners. Despite some might be lured by the power of red lyrim's appeal, I think the story should have been more refined in this political side.

The mages outside Redcliffe are the People's Front of Judea. The only thing they hate more than the templars are those assholes in the Judea People's Front (the mages inside Redcliffe).
