Why is it here? Dragon Age is a single player game (unless people suddenly started caring about the MP?). So how could a fanbase ruin something for you here? There are plenty of idiots on the internet which talk about games I play, but as long as they don't affect my gaming experience, they simply remain idiots on the internet.

The fanbase is predominantly single-player, yes...

But keep in mind, BW have provided this place for us to discuss the game. So naturally, like on every single forum on the internet who like to discuss their interests, you have people who like to be trolls or d*cks or are just unhealthily passionate and biased about their interests to the point they can't step back and look at things from different perspectives.. resulting in chaos, flame wars and moronic antics. ;)

Of course not...it doesn't matter how people other than me enjoy something, I'll enjoy it my way and have fun.

Well....

If parts of the fanbase become too vocal and developers start pandering to them and that results in a bastardisation of the material, then yeah, in that case, we could have a problem.

Not referring to anything specific of course....

@Honourable Bigot: I too do like DA2, it has its mistakes (but what game that was in development for only a year hasn't), but imo the main protagonist, storytelling and gameplay on nightmare was the best from any DA game so far.

And to the Tali controversy: In ME2 I believe she took off her mask, but only for Shep to see (not for the player, lot of hilarious memes came from this, but in good spirit). In ME3 you can see her photo on your night table when romancing her and this was the problem for many players - the photo is actually just some random woman BW found in a public photo database, photoshopped some "alien" features on her face and changed her hand to have 3 quarian fingers. To many people she looked too human and when someone found out why, many of them went mad :D

BW actually commented on this, that when they saw her, they immediately thought of Tali and that is why they used her picture. Personally I didn't care much, Ashley ftw :D

Not really unless the fanbase include those who whine about things like a gold or duplication cheat/glitch and get the devs to patch it out. Then it ruins the game.

Other than that me and my girlfriend tend to just judge the game on it's own.

Yep. Usually characters I'm so so on. Otherwise I dig myself in deeper out of spite :3

The thing with DA:2 is... (and this is my opinion)

It's flawed, like most games. I don't think there will ever be a perfect game... like repetitive environments and pretty much spending the entire game in Kirkwall and only be able to venture outside to some ugly beach or that Dalish camp...

But what made up for it was the companion interaction, the personality of the player/character and the fact that most of the "fetch-questing" was necessary to get to the next point in the story... besides, the actual combat made the pointless side-quests enjoyable!! A lot of people prefer the DA:O style of combat... which I wasn't too fussed on, however, other aspects of Origins made it tolerable and eventually you just adapt...

Which brings me to DA:I. The controls are horrible... the fetch questing probably takes up around 70-80 percent of the game... there is no actual reason to go to all of those open worlds and do these quests save for sealing the rifts... while the idea of playing as a race of your choice and being able to have proper dialogue options is great, it loses its appeal when you get a bland personality and the dialogue options almost never come out how you want (although this has happened in the ME series)...

But wait. This has nothing to do with the thread topic so now I'll stop. :P

And thanks for clarifying that with me, Jeff. I think it's hilarious.
