Ever since KOTOR 2: The Sith Lords was released I have kept KOTOR 3 at the very top of my wish list for new games being developed. I understood the number of things that had to line up for it to ever happen made it all but impossible so until recently I've never really talked about it or made any sort of fuss or deal over the issue. SWTOR was a fun MMO but it paled in comparison to what a proper new KOTOR sequel could be (which is why I've never maintained a subscription for more than a month). HOWEVER, the past few years all of the necessary stars required to make KOTOR 3 a real possibility have aligned one by one. Allow me to lay them out.

1) Bioware was purchased by EA. At the time a horrendous thought to me but now a stroke of pure fortune.

2) Disney bought LucasFilm, licenses, LucasArts, and all. While this led to the saddening closure of LucasArts it cleared away any number of potential licensing issues for future Star Wars media.

3) Disney signed an exclusivity deal with EA for all Star Wars related video game titles for the next decade.

4) Bioware finished development of their largest console project ever, Dragon Age: Inquisition, freeing up major development resources for new projects.

Basically, with Disney now holding all of the licenses and EA owning Bioware and all of it's studios (with one of their best coming off a major project) there is nothing standing in the way of Bioware making a new and proper sequel for the KOTOR franchise. Nothing save the related companies will to make one. And honestly, why wouldn't they? With a new movie on the way next year and a new Battlefront game to compliment it popularity for the franchise across multiple mediums is about to be reinvigorated. KOTOR has always been a massively popular gaming franchise (even with only two games). People still buy it via sites like GOG and replay it today, both via the old medium and the updated one. I think anyone trying to find an argument why a new entry in the series wouldn't sell like hotcakes would be extremely hard pressed to produce any.

Also consider how far Bioware has come in the gameplay arena while still maintaining their nack for narrative flair. Imagine a new KOTOR game with both Mass Effect style gunplay and power mechanics combined with Dragon Age style swordplay and power mechanics. Admittedly, to meet the gold standard they would have to up their game for environmental physics to make force powers as awesome and versatile as they should be. With the newer game engines like Frostbite 3 they have at their command that shouldn't be too much of a challenge over a proper development cycle. Especially if they throw in the optional tactical camera from DA:I. Imagine targeting environmental objects like crates and small trees and even wildlife in outdoors environments and interacting with them with your force powers, causing random objects to explode into shrapnel or fly across the area at an enemy or any number of other combined effects.

With all of those stars aligning, please tell me I'm not the only one who sees the possibilities. That I'm not the only one who wants this more than any other game the entire industry might come up with next. For the love of all of gaming, please make this happen. You actually can now!

I Really must say that your breakdown of how kotor should be integrated back in was written very well, couldn't have put it better myself without using extreme emotion of how great the potential and influence this game would have. You used facts which is not only an admirable quality but the best way to get your point across without using a biased opinion while at the same time for something we feel so dedicated about, i'ts only normal to have an emotional attachment to such great of a story arc but the point is we have an excellent game that came out in 2003 that has won multiple awards such as the GDCA game of the year, BAFTA game of the year and an IAA award for best console and computer RPG. That is just to name a few of the many awards that just ONE game received. You said something that really struck a cord with me, which was on the fact that the only thing stopping them from really making this game, is themselves. With every ounce and hour of gameplay for the rest of my days, I wish there to be another kotor made, I have continually over the years checked online to to see if there was any word on the next installment. Only to find out to my dismay it was only on the pc, my hopes dashed once again for a release of an actual force wielding, lightsaber swinging, story telling of the ancient past which also plays into current events. I have been thinking on this game for so long with ideas that I can assure you would rival any of those actually working at bioware or EA, on this specific game of course. In my opinion, this concept of a game is to amazing to let go, it will be made. I'ts just going to take time for the right person to step in to make it happen, everything is in place for the story and gameplay, to bring something so influential to the new-gen consoles is going to blow peoples minds. I have no doubt of that. I really did enjoy the fact that someone else took the time to make their point be known, I had to create an account to just reply to you about how much I enjoyed it, ain't that some shite! Once again, thank you random person who i've never met for your input because it was very very relieving to have someone feel the same about a game so great.

A good Kotor 3 needs a good balance of good gameplay and story. Well I would have an internal constant Kotor Trilogy.

The real Kotor 3 or a new Kotor which would the 3rd ?

I think that people wand to see the events in Kotor2 finished and the story of Revan properly finished. The fact that Kotor2 didn't get a sequel was one of the worst thins that could happen in gaming history. Shuch a big waste of potential. It could have been one of the greatest games ever. What did we get instead ? An MMO.... it basically killed every possibility of a continuation of Kotor2. <_<

So.. a 3rd Kotor game would be most welcome I think, even if it will have nothing to do with Revan and what happened in the first two games. It's better than nothing.

KOTOR three is literally the only game I would ever pre-order/pay £50 plus for. I have played and replayed both of these games since I was a little kid and I have never found a game that grabbed me in the same way.

Knights of The Old Republic 3

OMG! Long overdue!

We're growing old! we don't have time to wait till we're 80years old

before this game is released.

Release it now, I think this game will make huge amounts of money.

As far as I'm concern "Revan" is the freaking man in Stars Wars Lore period.

He is my favorite period, and will watch a "Star Wars Movie & Play any Star Wars games

by Lucas Arts & EA giving me the chance to see or play as this character!

I'm sorry but we want to play as "Revan"  KOTOR 2 was nice, playing as the "Exile"

but all that did is left a bad taste in many gamer mouths, thus the reason it didn't do as good as

the original KOTOR, due to the fact not playing as the Main guy "Revan"

No I was entice enough in KOTOR 2 playing as the "Exile", give me the main guy, that is "Revan"

That is the reason the series exist in the first place.  Games like Halo, Metal Gear Solid, and Splinter Cell

have done extremely well over the years, because they gave us the main character more than 1 Season.

We wish to be that main guy in this series, period.

Once a Character reach the height of Godlike character anything short of being the main is just

teasing, and leave many players with bad taste in their mouths.

<------I know many want to be this! guy with the mask in these Youtube video's

Just like Lucas Films! gave us Anakin Skywalker! with the Hood in "Revenge of The Sith"  Dark Side Look!

I was thinking when I saw it on Midnight Launch day! I said, Thank you! finally! what I wanted to see! a freaking beast!

That's what I know many fans of this series are hoping for with "Revan" as we were mainly hoping to play out him as that version with the

Mask and Hood on!!! and I don't care if it's DLC, and sure put "Exile" in it too! but I want to be & play as Revan.

Not only that how much I heard many players talk about KOTOR so much in the day, you all probably could of remade the exact same KOTOR

with better graphics right after "SWTOR" was release and I guaranteed you, many would bought it for a nice profit!!!

I know for a fact there was a period of years!! players talked about "Revan" on the internet more than Lara Croft, Snake, Sam, Master Chief,

any GTA characters & Resident Evil Characters by far more individually on the Internet!

Even though this name

"Revan"  <------------- Were talked about more by many players by far on average than any character I heard during that era...

In 2 we were given the  "Exile"!  Obsidian did a damn good job by the way but it still left a bad taste in our mouths, because we wanted "Revan"!

Sorry to digress for a moment but I'm serious here.............................

There were people in the realm of the living whom were diehard fans of KOTOR series and they were hoping to play as "Revan' again in KOTOR.

Some of these people bless their souls sincerely, are no longer with us today.  I for one when I originally bought KOTOR & KOTOR 2 on launch day had zero severe illnesses.  Now I have 4 severe illnesses.  We're not going to be alive forever waiting for KOTOR 3.

So please, the reason I'm saying all of this EA, Lucas and BIOWARE....................

Please, give us  KOTOR 3 & let us play as "Revan" as the main...

I'm sure many of you will hate me but it'll bring so many problems.

The main problem is its been a while and it had two indirect sequels(Counting SWTOR too)

Where to, when to, how to start and finish? Both indirect sequels covered, extended or explained some of KOTOR's lore. Ignore them or include them?

Ignoring your own work(TOR) make no sense so they'll include it. But they may simply include stuff in TOR instead of working on a new game in same lore aswell.

Secondly will Bioware use dialog wheel and voice overed character for it?

If yes it'll bring problems. If not it'll bring problems.

If KOTOR 3 will be a HD remake of old, with some improvements etc. then it'll be okay, i'll buy it if it works with my Windows 8.1(And upcoming 10 or if it was ported to PS 4) but even though i'm really sorry i think KOTOR ship sailed for a while ago and won't return in close time due to technological improvements over the last decade.

And sadly sometimes it is better to let it rest than to see it got ruined.

Disclaimer : I probably played both(KOTOR 1-2) for a dozen times, seen probably everything in that game. Played SWTOR for about a year aswell. And yeah you can see i own many of Bioware games on my profile so i'm far from hater.

Revan's story was/is finished with their "Shadow of Revan" expac that recently released for SWTOR.

many don't like how it was handled but that doesn't change the fact it was finished.  Revan is gone.  And his story has been completely told.  From the end of KOTOR where he went, what happened to him and the exile, how he fit into SWTOR's timeframe 300 years later and the end of him there.

If they did do a "KOTOR 3" it cannot involve Revan or significantly change/add-to the lore since it's all already been covered...Revan himself wouldn't be available, nor would the Exile.  Nor could anything really happen that altered what is given to us in SWTOR.

Those are some really points and distinctions!  The MMO ( ) pretty much killed a "real KotOR 3."  Their inclusion of Revan there sealed his/her fate.

I would like to see a "next KotOR" single player game.  I like that era in the Star Wars timekine :)

a good retcon can be tastefully done.

do you really think they'd "retcon" it?  SWTOR was meant to be KotOR 3+  I like SWTOR for what it is (but can list pages of flaws and how they screwed it up, including their handling of Revan, despite personally feeling Revan is way overrated)

they're not going to "retcon" anything outside of SWTOR.  The BEST we could get, if they were to use Revan again, is to somehow bring him back and set it waaaay after SWTOR's timeline.

that in and of itself is lame.  Sorry but it's not a matter of a "good retcon"

Revan is done.  IF we get another KOTOR single player RPG it literally cannot be Revan.  Or do anything to alter the story presented to us through SWTOR.  it would involve a new protagonist.  Which is fine.

I really don't get people's obsession with Revan.  Or why a KOTOR game "must" include him.  He's dead and gone, finally.  He already lived 300+ years more than he should have.

And after the way they handled him in SWTOR would you REALLY want them "retconning" it? it would be terrible.

that is why sometimes listening to certain fans can be a good idea; conversely listening certain fans can be a bad idea.  SWTOR is non canon anyways for it is legends now. People like Kotor 1 and 2 to become canon without the baggage of SWTOR; for people actually enjoy both of those games very much. In the spirit of star wars, why not have a Kotor 3.

i do think some of my ideas are good; some of them are bad; some of  my ideas are the naked.

I think if KOTOR 3 happens, it probably won't technically be KOTOR. That is to say it will not be a direct sequel, just in the same vein as KOTOR was. Which isn't necessarily bad. I mean KOTOR was great because of the way it conveyed the Starwars universe, not because of Revan or any specific characters.

All I really want is for them to make another Starwars RPG with as love and care and focus on the core of the game as KOTOR had. I think the main danger with modern game sis making them too flashy and forgetting to tell a really good story. I mean, the KOTOR games weren't exactly the most polished games ever made in terms of mechanics or graphics, but we all still love them because they told a great story and made you feel like you were the jedi. That's what they need to do today if they make a new RPG and I SO hope they do.

Im just as big a fan as everyone here, played them both with restored content and i wouldnt mind playing as not revan, i just want it made.Of course it would be better but i just wan tthe game haha. I saw some people say it couldnt conflict with SWTOR but thats no longer canon for better or worse. So a third could be made but i want to throw out an idea, what about a prequel that takes place during the mandalorian wars?

I'm hoping KOTOR doesn't end up like Zone of the Enders... which I'm sure it will. It's very sad, since I loved the first game very, very much and it is easily one of my favorite games ever.

Star Wars The Old Republic 3 really needs to be available on the PlayStation 4 if this new upcoming Star Wars is not on the PlayStation 4 you can forget playing BioWare I'm officially done I'm a super huge fan of Bioware I have all Mass Effect and Dragon Age games but my biggest issue is the last two Star Wars The Old Republic games have not been available on the PlayStation 4 or any PlayStation Network at all I really think Bioware and EA would make a lot more money by having it available on all platforms including the new Playstation 4 or Xbox one because of the Frostbite 3 software and look at Dragon Age Inquisition available on both ps3 and ps4 the new star wars old republic franchise would be a great new manufacture franchise to the PlayStation Network and Xbox and don't give me oh it's a PC exclusive or its not compatible with the platforms I don't want to hear that bs I know damn well you can make Star Wars The Old Republic franchise available on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Network platforms

Wow...  not demanding at all :)

I understand where you're coming from, though I am not a console player.  It would be nice to take it one step at a time, though.  Getting them to make KotOR 3 first, would be a nice first step.  I would not hold my breath, though :)

Remember posters that ToR is not canon and Bioware is not morally require to make Kotor 3 to have any ties to ToR regardless if Revan is the PC or not.
