If the medal's appearance doesn't coincide with the patch, but appeared later, I can only guess that it's something that can be adjusted the way balance changes were, and that the medals are determined on the servers.

Could be as simple as a bug fix server side. Likely the data flowed to the server from the start, but likely didn't get shown correctly on the end of mission screen.

I just played some and I believe Immortal just shows that you never got downed/died during the mission. EDIT: Seems I was wrong since the person we revived constantly died and still got it at the end.

Tried it earlier before the event started in a duo match. Friend intentionally went down at the very end, he didn't get the medal. I must add that we both decided not to didn't revive him.
So I think it is assuming a player is an "immortal" if you are on your feet till the very end. Could be a bug because if you go down once that should get you disqualified from getting the medal, imo.
