I mean, seriously. It's not even funny. I do just fine on Gold with most kits, and Plat with a couple faves, but Goliath the Puggernaut goes down faster than a Steinlager, especially once he gets surrounded. (Part of it is that I refuse to stand around heavy meleeing all the things.)

My apologies in advance as I continue experimenting. :-)

Could be worse. You could go down while playing AIU like me.
I do pretty well with the Jug using the PPR. It helps to be able to take a few hits while you stay on target and burn through that second stage. Pop off your Siege Pulses while your ammo recharges, rinse and repeat. I run a shock Hex for on-demand stun and portable RHA, I might be in the minority on that, though.

Maybe it is because the Juggernaut isn't all that great.

Stay away from open space where you can get sniped by Ravagers, Scions, Primes etc. and Platinum is a walk in the park. Looking for cover is higly recommended in this game.

My build

3 points in turret for team help and for objectives. If I'm walking in a certain direction I'll throw it ahead of me to where I'll be just because. Just having hex shield on the field nets me a 10% damage increase, plus portable right hand advantage, plus it stuns any small enemy that walks through it, and I can tech burst them with siege pulse. Lancer gives you good damage, good range, stability bonuses help, applies incendiary ammo well, which allows you to siege pulse spam. Also not taking the last rank in fitness allows you to do even more damage and you don't need it anyway. The obvious problem I have with the kit of the atrocious movement speed, even with adrenaline module III. It would have been a cool mechanic that he pulls energy from his shields to increase movement speed, so if you wanted to go somewhere faster (not sprint, but a fast walk) it would be at the expense of his strength.

Incendiary ammo is your friend when using Siege Pulse build.

Here's a way to deal with enemies when surrounded...

It mooks surround you, do a couple of light melee attacks - the AoE will stagger most of them. Then place a hex shield with the shock evo - it will stun a few more. Spam siege pulse and track back. And now, you are clear.

If it's a boss, try tech combos (disruptor/incendiary + siege pulse). Praetorians and banshees are the most annoying when they close in - disruptor + siege pulse spam stops a banshee fast; for the crab king, spam siege pulse like crazy and hope it gets staggered (it will, but only after you take a nice chunk of damage).

I used to take adrenaline module, but now I use cyclonic or power amp. I feel that AM is wasted on the jugg because the change is hardly noticeable. Cyclonics help you tank very well, and power amp is good for a siege pulse spamming build.

Oh, and do spec into hex shield. It's a great portable RHA when dealing with long range enemies in the open.

Oh man, not for me, definitely a noticeable (and even crucial) difference. I can totally appreciate the idea of maximizing strengths rather than minimizing weaknesses, but I just can't tolerate that plodding hunk of metal without AM3 on any map besides Glacier.

AM is noticeable if you walk sideways and backwards especially.

I'm useless with it too and that walking speed drove me insane! It was like those slow-mo dreams that you find yourself in from time to time, so frustrating.

I gave up with it and am happier.

you need a custom geth juggernaut witn 2x speed thats all, so the game experience changes dramatically, now you can be "el maldito héroe" of the battle not just a statue that attracts enemies

Honestly, go all 6 evos of fitness for health / shields, use Siege pulse as a %40 DR and use a Reegar with Incendiary ammo.

Problem solved

Edit, personally I always use an Adrenaline mod and Geth scanner (ironical)

Banshees will begin clawing at you and consistently staggering you, if you just move in circles around them they claw where you were instead of where you are.

Might not win me any points here but I actually love acting like a Tank when I play a puggernaut. I go out of my way to pull large numbers of enemies to me, zap phantoms for a sec to drop em to floor for my guys to kill, and generally lead the whole mess to choke points for AoE to get disgustingly effective.

As an aside I'm not scoring last either when I tank with this kit. The trick is in knowing how to tank and where. You're not invincible you're actually quite squishy all things considered. RHA, "dodging", juking, baiting, mobility/motility, correct use of Heavy/Light melees.

Heavy Melee is a great utility beyond just filling your shields. It makes you immune to stagger. That banshee starts to claw at you and you know your going to have to take it, that geth bomber does a fly-by over your shoulder, that atlas is winding up to rocket your chestplate? Heavy Melee for a second or two. Drop it immediately after, then do a burst from your weapon as they recover.

Always be moving if you're not at a choke point.

Be moving towards a choke point...

If done correctly with team mates who can detonate and provide AoE of some sort a tank in this game can speed things up, not slow things down.(easiest done on small maps granted)

The best part is when I see mute PC pugs stop wandering the map and start following behind me (Also mute). Did some Goddess Collector Plats that way, so many choke points and LoS breaks; I love that map for such purposes. Scion Grenade spam really keeps you on your toes though. =/

QFT.

I personally don't use Hex Shield but I see the numerous advantages. I make a point of putting full points in healing on my turret, then I fire my turret behind me at my team mates, or for a res.

I've had a team mate go down in the hallway towards the control room in Dagger. I was below between Dark Side and Outlook. I shot my turret through the window at the corpse. There was a Geth somethingorother (Pyro or hunter iirc) trying to finish him off. My turret kept staggering it until I could lug my fat arse up there except I didn't get there in time. Another pug got him up. He wouldn't have made it without my turret holding off the mook though.

Tank and Healer wrapped up in one. I'm not as effective as when I'm playing a high damage fast paced kit (Drell for instance.) but that's not quite the point. It's a very different take on player dynamics in this game that's getting aged. It's also extremely helpful for random pugs who might be as drunk and high as me. :D

Who doesn't?

About 80% of the puggernauts I've seen...

Standing in front of things until they kill you isn't tanking imo.

I've ran into a few who know how to hold a choke point though. Fun times.

See they are two different things, one is a puggernaut which is somewhere between N7 ranking of 0-120 and he is a level 1-14 solider with this as his build http://kalence.drupa...B!21131.5!!!G3F

Then there is the Juggernaut. This is the build I go with. http://kalence.drupa...!13J56364!8D.A9

I only put down the shield if I am in wide open area fighting an atlas or when picking up a team member. Or if I need to quickly kill the delay of the melee time. I try to never put it in the way of team members. I melee only mooks or if I need to stay alive. But for the most part the reegar just melts it all, like always.

I hardly play the kit because he moves so slow. Anyone remember the Primes from ME1? They were on coke man

I was going to give some advice, but Dala Kaar covered most of it.  The only thing I'd add is that a small hex shield works beautifully for portable RHA.  It'll work against ravager/scion blasts too, but you'll have to back away from the shield to avoid the splash damage.  PPR with incendiary works very well on him.

This kit is hit or miss with me. Some games i'am a beast with him, other games i'm complete garbage. In general tho, i try to use him as a weapons, high damage unit. I usually equip him with a typhoon and place my turret close by to recharge my shields or i will shoot the turret ahead of me to where i'am going. That shield is incredibly useful when blocking cerb turrets and other enemy fire.

For Bosses i usually fire a turret nearby and unload with the typhoon until i feel my health and shields are in danger...i will heavy melee when i can, but for the most part i will unload into the boss with my typhoon/Siege Pulse and let my turret recharge my shields. I try to kill things as fast as possible and try to stay out of open areas.

Like others have mentioned he's not as durable as you would like to believe and he can go down pretty quickly if he gets overwhelmed...you really have to strategize when playing with him and know when to fire your turret/shield and be aware of your surroundings.
