Both schools of healing magic still exist in the Dragon Age world, but Bioware used its absence as lore itself. The belief is that Spirit Healers and Creation magic are actually rare, and that they are incredibly difficult schools of magic to master. So far it has really only been Circle Mages who have been known to possess the skill needed for extensive healing magic (with the exception of Hawke and well...it's Hawke). Meanwhile, in Inquisition, Vivienne is the only mage who would be worried and training to be a Healer and she is not the type of person to indulge in the Creation school (she is a more aggressive, warrior type of mage).
I believe the exact analogy used, was that Spirit Healers are the equivalent of trained surgeons in Thedas. So, Creation and Spirit Healers have gone no where, your Mage companions (and/or you) just suck at medicine and bedside manner.

Lore wise, mages connect to spirits of compassion to use there ability to heal... Now with the breach open and rifts opening around thedus all those spirit are being sucked out of the fade and are turned to demons...
That's right, every despair demon is a healing spell you can't use.

Compassion or hope? Or faith?

Basically, Solas walks with his head in the Fade too much to care for material world and wounds and the like, Dorian is all about flashy elemental magic, Vivienne is a ****** and healing magic doesn't give her the feeling of "being the most dangerous thing in the room" as it is stated in some banter and elven quizzy got sent on some spy-mission. You think his/her Heeper would really let him go if that guy/girl had any talent for healing magic whatsoever? ![]()
(someone who actually played human mage could give background-specific You Suck At Healing explanation for him?
)
More seriously - Breach is a good explanation for lack of active Spirit Healers in southern Thedas and Creation magic is supposedly difficult and not everyone is suited for it. You don't really need to link it to Circle (since one could argue that Dalish are likely to be better at not-obviously-combat magic in general) explain why among a bunch of mages none seems to lean that way. I think it's explicitly stated that you have healers among your forces, and I'm absolutely sure there were mentions of healers (as in healer mages) working, so the art of magical healing is still there, just not available to you. The possibility of learning absolutely any magic you wanted with equal aptitude was a thing of gameplay and story segregation in previous installments. In Inquisition all your mages just happen to be the most obvious kind of mage: everyone practices Primal magic mostly, it being the most battle-oriented and the one that Circles care the most about. There is limited access to Spirit magic in specializations... and that's pretty much it.
Probably the only mage it doesn't fit very well is Solas, you would think that this guy should be Spirit-oriented... Then again, he's Solas, who knows what this guy's thinking ![]()

I'm pretty sure this applies ONLY to Spirit Healers. And those are pretty rare (at least in Circles and among standard apostates, perhaps Rivaini and/or Avvars have more of those guys seeing as they like spirits more) . Either way, the more common Creation magic, those basic heals and stuff, isn't particularly spirit-related.
Ok ...You got me on creation magic.
