You are either missing the point or trying to troll a bit but failing at it :) The point is platforming in a game like DA is not needed and by many not wanted, at least not in its current form.

Nothing is ever "needed", and there will always be many to whom something is not wanted.

Use a trainer with teleport to waypoint option. There are plenty on gamecopyworld.com

Thats how I solve the issue of trash filler content this game is so full off. Saves hundreds of hours.

That is why you make a game, people like it, you don't change. You use the same mechanics forever, improve graphics and tell other stories. When you play DnD it is not repetitive because each story is unique. How many people play 3.5 even now? Hell there are people playing AD&D. If Bioware thinks new systems are needed and not new stories it just shows how weak their stories are. If they need the flash, the boom and the action for the game to be interesting, so sad. If they are trying to get Witcher and Skyrim players to play their games... even more sad.

As long as they please more people than they make haters (like they did to me in Inquisition) they can keep going with this crap.

Is there a partition somewhere to get the designer who is responsible for the last shard in the Hinterlands, flocked in the public square?

Who on Earth thought it is fun to have to jump around on rocks, where one mistake means you have to start all over again? .. especially since the character can't turn without moving a step.

I have now spent 15-20 minutes trying to get up on the rock where the shard is ... and I am getting really pissed off.

The designers seem to like to place objects where you will have to navigate very narrow paths to get to it, and one misstep means you are starting over. I have seen it several times now.

Why would you think this is fun game play?

Maybe I am just not that accurate with character jumping, but that part of the quest was annoying.

I dislike jumping - especially because of the awkward platforming (which I've never enjoyed) especially when there are invisible walls

and because it uses the same button as the interaction (loot bodies/talk/open doors/access bus/sell screen) and I often the do the wrong one

Sometimes I get flashbacks of trying to traverse perilous mountainsides in the mako.

Not a fan of Jumping puzzles, so eventually skipped the ones that were not deemed worthy of my time. That said, I enjoy Jumping and falling, and being able to traverse the world in another direction.

Was able to use the mechanics to assail some cliffs to gain a tactical advantage over enemies, cover ground much faster, as well as gather treasure and loot. Discovered the Evade ability for Rogues seemed to help prevent some fall damage; used it for quick drops and also for covering greater distance than a normal Jump. And Mages have Fade Step and Fade Cloak; have not utilized Warriors yet, but am hoping they have something similar.

Great addition to the series, but do not require Lemming puzzles to use it.

Actually I know of two users on these boards that claimed Super Mario was indeed a roleplaying game, because you play a "role" in it.

Just use barrier and jump from the highest mountain.

Or a mount, they might "die" from the fall, but you'll always be unharmed.

Oh I strongly disagree with anyone thats says you don't need a jump key.  It is the only saving grace in this whole game.  How else can I jump off a cliff to make this this soulless, blood mageless, burned out nug of game end.

They put shards in difficult to reach places and provide poor controls and only one path to reach it. One has to run around a mountain for 15 minutes to find this one path without either an invisible wall or an obstacle in form of a pebble or single branch. PC didn't even have a walk toggle.

I must say, I do really like being able to parkour up mountains. There are areas where it allows you to approach enemies from unexpected and unassailable positions (I'm thinking of Emprise du Lion). I just wish BioWare hadn't put so many invisible walls places that stop you from going somewhere after you've gone to the trouble of jumping up the cliff.

Since I expect that we wouldn't be able to jump if they had not added the jumping puzzles, I'm glad we got the jumping puzzles.

If I can break the game by wandering off the trail, I want to try to do that. Jumping helps.

I was always good at platformers like Mario 64 so I made it within one minute or so. Not that hard on less you're on mouse and keyboard though. You need the precision of an analog stick for that one.

No you don't. Made all jumps easily with KB+M. Without a walk toggle.

For me it's not about difficulty, it's about purpose. The entire jump puzzle stuff in the game is just another time sink. But I said enough about that in my first post in this thread.

I got that shard in the Hinterlands with relative ease, then again, I played WoW. Where one of my favorite things to do was jump up the side of a cliff. For me, the one that was the bane of my existence was over by the Redcliffe farms, up near that stupid quest. I must have walked around that damn mountain for hours! Yes, I know there's a path, and there's a way to get there from behind. But I didn't know that then :P

Now when I see the ocularam, I simply move on and act like I didn't see it. It's made the game much more enjoyable for me, and I don't need to step foot into the Forbidden Oasis, which is now my personal hell.

I actually quite liked the Forbidden Oasis design, except for that one shard close to the Oasis camp. When in doubt, climb up as high as you can, cast barrier and jump down to your target. ;)

The main problem with the shards is that there are too many. Even Varric comments on that.

Would be better if you only needed 3, 6, 9 and 12 shards for this.

There are too many "collectibles" in general in the game. Especially the shards and the temple in Oasis are a complete joke. For the final reward you get 20% electric resistance for the Inquisitor, but you had to collect every single bloody shard, which means you are pretty much done with the game. For me there was only 1 fire dragon in Emprise du Lion and Corypheus left... The worst thing is, that after the first playthrough I now know what is best skipped, but have absolutely zero desire to play the game ever again from the beginning.

I found the resistances a great boon; skipped ones that were of little importance, or ceased to gather more due to RP and story. Still have yet to complete it or Dragon hunting.

And I also know now what is best skipped, and have plans for my next campaign after the current one.

Personally I'm glad to see more jumping, since that should also be part of a rpg experience in my book. Although, if there was good climbing mechanics I could see some being shifted into that instead, since that'd fit even better. But I really disagree with the turning motion, turning around does not displace you that much in any reality except maybe low gravity... :)

The only time I ever enjoyed jumping in a game was when a patch messed up and, for a while one of the MMOs I play had no falling damage. Made navigating steep areas easier, just jump, no big deal if you fall and, it wasn't required to get to any loot or enemies or anything, jsut there for fun. Now that I could deal with, it is fun if it isn't required.

I love that you have no fall damage in Skyhold. Makes navigating the place much faster (yep, I throw my Inquisitor from walls and towers just to save a few seconds).
