...I named my Dwarf ANGRY, in honor of my first ever Dragon Age character: ANGRY Aeducan.

Otherwise, I try and put a little effort into names.

I actually thought up a name for my Mahariel, so this time I got lazy and stuck the default 'Lyna' for a Dalish Warden on my Dalish Inquisitor.
Har har I'm tricky.
I use soccer player name... these guys always have a catchy name.

Thane Trevelyan.
and my other character.
Cissé Trevelyan
Ahzek Ahriman Trevelyan
Ahzek Ahriman Trevelyan
Is that Canadian?
Haha ANGRY xD
All I thought of when I read that was HULK SMASH! Except in this case it'd be "AEDUCAN SMASH!"
I never finished his playthrough, so he lives on in Inquisition.
"ANGRY SMASH. CADESH KICK. SHOW ME YO MOV-" Wrong series, sorry.
My canon guy is a pompous noble with a glorious mustache, so I needed a name that fits the character. I settled with Gaston Trevelyan, the most magnificent bastard in Thedas.
NOBODY SAVES THEDAS LIKE GASTON!
I generally make mages and/or elves, so the names I pick can usually be lofty or strange.
Maaya/Maya, Maratsune, Mara.... I have a taste, as you can see.
But when I play humans, I try to pick a different type of name.
My second Warden was actually named Vivienne... awkward. But I also have used Scarlette, Alexandra, Rebecca, Lissandra, really grand names like that.
Unfortunately for my first Inquisitor, I messed up and used the default Ellana. I've become rather attached to it, however.
Just pick a name that sounds pretty and make it your own throughout the game ![]()
I made a list of names that I liked before the game was released, so I was prepared. LOL. But here is a name generator that could come in handy:
http://www.behindthename.com/random/
My first Inquisitor was Rane Trevelyan. 'Rane' and 'Trevelyan' do not sound so nice together but she looked like a 'Rane', so the name was fitting.
Then there is Élin Lavellan. Unfortunately, I wasn't happy with her appearance and therefore, I made another character, Imalia Lavellan.
Last but not least there is Yorrick Cadash.
So far I've had:
Kadeth Lavellan (Elven for Immortal Dragon from another game.)
Shadaei Treyvellan Couldn't think of a name so went with that one.
Shaylor Lavellan (just one I used in an old MMO)
Arucana Tryvellan (She was my GM toon when I was a GM for a game.)
Adaar Adaar because well, fire thrower and he is a qunari mage.
Kadaar Adaar my liberty at qunlat, immortal fire thrower.
Dwarves that I just can't finish the game with:
Shyla
Taylor
Borris
Loral
I have a horrible time coming up with names. I sit and look at the character in the cc and hope something will just come to me, but it usually doesn't. I end up usually just going with the first one I can think of that sounds decent. For DAI I have:
Andariel Lavellan (finished game; named her after the demon in Diablo II
)
Julia Trevelyan (finished game; no story here)
Neralah Cadash (current game; this one I used an online name generator for since I was coming up with nada on my own)
Jaega Adaar (not played her yet; derived her name from "schattenjaeger" [shadow hunter] from the Gabe Knight series; doesn't really flow but oh well)
I like using Roman names e.g. Caius, Augustus, Aeneas, Caelius, Lucan etc.
In DA2 I had Amellie Hawke. Leandra's idea, as an attempt to gain her parents acceptance. Sort of "see, even though I ran off with the apostate, our baby is still an Amell". Malcolm called his girl "my little Hawke" and then later just Hawke. Leandra was the only one who used Amellie. Hawke wouldn't even tell anyone what her first name really was. Not even Varric.
In Inquisition I had a vague idea of what my Vashoth Mage's background would be and then I went to the qunlat dictionary online to find the name.
Imekari Kadan. As a new-born she was thrust into the arms of her human adoptive parents by a desperate Qunari female. (yeah, I know, shades of Worf) Maybe her mother, maybe not. The Qunari woman repeated the words Imekari Kadan several times before turning and running back to her own people. The human couple (Rivaini traders) not knowing the meaning of the words (Beloved Child) took this to be the baby's name. She spent her childhood traveling around the Free Marches with her parents.
When her magic began to manifest, they took her to the Valo Kas mercenaries because the company had a mage. When the leader of the mercenaries accepted her into the company at the urging of his mage, he said "This is going to be trouble." so Trouble is her mercenary name and the name that she goes by. I still haven't figured out how to incorporate everyone calling her Adaar but I'm working on it.
I actually cant remember what my warden's name was. I always think of her as "The Warden"
So yeah, I spend way to much time thinking about such things.

Mine are:
Anya Amell
Sybil Hawke
Hester Tevelyan
My main Inky is Rhiannon Lavellan. I really like the way that flows. I tend to pick slightly wordier names for my elves, keep it short and sweet for dwarves. My main dwarf is Nico Cadash, but I'm also thinking of an Asha and/or Leia in the future. My qunari is Anjali Adaar.
As for Trevelyans, I like Evelyn personally, though 'd probably shorten it to Evie. I like the name Samara too, mostly because of Mass Effect.
Andariel Lavellan (finished game; named her after the demon in Diablo II
)
