So my friends and I were playing multiplayer and we came up with an awesome idea for a DLC. Play as the Warden combating the Calling. Do the dialog wheel Deus Ex HR style (wheel, but full sentences on the wheel) without the Warden speaking, and ta-daa! You got past the big dialog system hurdle, and you will have effectively given hordes of people what they want. Everybody loves their Warden. A lot of us fanboyed/fangirled out when we got to contact them in the story, so please give this to us. I can promise you that your fans would buy this. We want this very badly. Just look at the opening post for /dag/ on 4chan's /vg/. It's a FAQ, and one of the snippets there is
Q.) Where is my Warden?
A.) Forever in your heart anon, forever in your heart
I will sign whatever documentation for rights to this idea if I have to. Can you just imagine the places and people you'd meet in this journey? It'd be incredible

EDIT: Just thought about how this would work if the Warden died during the events of DA:O. Solution: Bring in the Orlesian Warden-Commander from Awakening. Problem solved

Hell yes, though I'd rather have a full game personally. The inquisitor has more to do, he's super rich and has an army so he'll never be a PC again, while the warden is a soldier on a journey. It'd be good to get some solid inquisition DLC first though.

I'd like to see the warden investigate the calling and the source of the darkspawn, I want to see the architect again (pretty sure he's a magister like corypheus so he's easy to bring back even if he died, or as a sub boss/ally if they keep him dead in games where the warden killed him... actually that could have a huge impact, that'd be awesome to have both possibilities). I want the Warden to take the fight to the archdemons, and the remaining magisters, I want to see orzimmar and kal shirok, maybe even weisshaupt fortress and the warden leadership. I'd like to see some old friends (morrigan, lelianna, shale etc) without having to introduce myself (with an option to do so as a main character, afterall the decisions of the hero will only affect dialogue so it's totally doable). I want to see what the darkspawn do under the ground, and just beat the snot out of them for a change.

As for the orlesian warden, many of us never played on, and they don't realize how much fun it was playing a sole orlesian in ferelden. I actually really liked mine, and the hate he got from the people. He, or a new warden commander can always fill the gap for people who want new PCs.

And to all the people who say bioware will screw it up so it shouldn't be done... why play dragon age if you think they'll mess it all up anyway, either have a little faith, or find a series that you'll hate less.

I DO NOT want to see the search for the calling told to me in a bloody text box.

I don't want Bioware to continue to fist and break my characters. DA:A was bad enough. DAI with Hawke wasn't pleasant. Now a DLC to further fist the Warden? No. Enough is enough.

Not your characters. Property of Bioware. "We do what we like, panic your brains out".

Hey, that's the kind of answers we always get, right?

I won't patronize you by asking if you used varrick's custom option (even if you didn't alter your appearance) because some people do seem to have legitimate flag issues with hawke (all of mine have seemed spot on, if a little short on screen time and dialogue, but that's just me)

Worrying that bioware will screw it up is no reason not to tell a great story. Maybe they will, but the truth is if they're only going to screw up all the characters the series is dead anyway so... why not let them try?

If you honestly don't believe they can do the job, there's plenty of other titles with devs you might enjoy more.

I think the only way they truly ruin the wardens who still live is if they make them a damned text box for the rest of the series, having great adventures we can read about but never ever play.

Have some faith dude, and if you truly doubt them, tell them how to do it right and make the warden the PC you want to play, done properly. Them how to bring the warden back in a "game of the decade" sort of way. Beats saying "never tell the story because you'll just F it up"...

There are some things to take into account, he's a warden commander now and not just one of two, so he admittedly probably can't run around stabbing innocent people anymore, but aside from game and character/profession breakingly evil decisions, there's no reason that bioware can't get do him/her justice.

It's not about the appearance. It's about the forced out of character decisions. My Wardens in DAO wouldn't accept leading the Ferelden Wardens. They'd tell Weishaupt to go **** itself up the ass. But that's not something that's possible in DAA. You're forced into it. Same with Hawke and the incredibly emo personalities that get tacked on regardless of what you pick in the Keep.

It's not that I don't want them to tell a story - it's that there's no way they can tell a story without turning it into a story that only works for some Wardens, and then it just turns into fans clamouring for their particular fan fiction ending to be turned into DA cannon.

Bioware can't do justice to any former PC because they can't know what motives/goals you put into it.

I accept that once the game is done the PC becomes property of Bioware. But then I prefer them to tell their story off-screen so I don't have to do so much mental gymnastic to distance myself from my former character and see him or her as an NPC.

I would totally love to play this out with my Warden. Especially if she can meet up with Alistair at the end! :)

I would prefer the dlc for inquisition to actually be about the inquisition. Not that I don't like my warden but they already got a bunch of dlc stuff and a large expansion. I would rather bioware focus on the inquisitor and finish their story/tie up loose ends before da4.

I honestly think that there would be room for both with DLC's depending how many they intend to do. It also depends on what they intend to do with the story for the next DA as to how much they actually can tie up before then.

I agree. I REALLY want to see my warden again, more than anything. But the inquisitor is rich and has an army, and I don't think a DLC would tell the story.

The inquisitor should get his DLC and finish his story, and hopefully the warden will appear in DA4, searching for the calling and the source of the darkspawn.

I am really hoping for a DA4 with the warden as the main character. I mean morrigan, leliana, alistair, all the friends we haven't seen yet like shale... hell, if darkspawn are involved, maybe even Sigrun will make an appearance... seeing them again loses just a little bit when i'm meeting them for the first time, instead of hearing the impact of our past decisions.

I had one warden who killed leliana at the urn of sacred ashes, she had a lot to say about that i inquisition, they are not pals. He also stabbed morrigan who he romanced when she abandoned him before the final battle for turning down the ritual... no new PC can live out the impact of those things.

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven", the Warden's time was in DAO. Hopefully we get a new protagonist for DA4.

I totally looking for a new protagonist in DA4.  I want dlc that finishes up the Inquisitor's story. The only constant for the DA games should be the world of Thedas. If Bioware wants to allow gamers to play their warden that is fine as long as I can create a totally new character that has nothing to do with the wardens or is a warden.

Exactly my thoughts.
