So why didn't the Reapers attack the Citadel in ME3?

[...] even that massive counter-attack against just that portion of the Reapers' fleet would have at most caused the loss of a few Reapers...

Maybe the Reapers are too arrogant to consider their own destruction a real possibility worth preparing for? :P

That's the point though, a (at certain places) slower harvest plus several lost reapers vs. virtually no slowdown or losses.

Agreed on Reaper arrogance, but the logic failures still hurt my head

Arrogance.

After EDI and the geth examined their existence and found it lacked distinctly human traits it makes perfect sense that the Reapers' plot-induced stupidity is simply arrogance. Reapers are just giant humans after all. Just like everyone else.

^heh

Anyways the game would be over if the Reapers took the Citadel.

I think it was a mistake to have them invade at the beginning of the game for many reasons.

This is a common complain and people always forget about Vigil and what he said.

Vigil states the reapers sent a signal to the citadel (star child) and then the citadel orders the keepers to operate the controls of the citadel, the Protheans disabled this system as thus when Sovereign told the citadel (starbrat) to wake up, he failed to do so.

Its likely sovereign was trying to fix the damage done to the citadel coding rather than actually trying to manually actionate the citadel relay and he of course failed to fix the star child at that point in time.

Its likely the Reapers had recovered the citadel, but had yet to fix the damage the Protheans did to the citadel software AI, in short the Protheans are awesome and the mass effect races should ALL worship them as the four eyed angels they are.
