Both stories are beautiful. With DR and Morrigan becoming Mythal, I guess Morrigan-Mahariel story does mirror Solas-Lavellan story more than a little.
Sacrifice or Dark Ritual?

I cant find a good reason to sacrifice your warden if Loghain is a grey warden though.
Loghain basically wants to sacrifice himself to make up for all the mistakes hes done.
The only reason to sacrifice yourself would be to give him the finger (which is a pretty inept reason imo).
Still struggling what to chose. Havent seen the Flemeth DR scene yet though (Im almost at that part atm).
Maybe it will make me change my mind.
DR is prolly the more intresting plot development of the two choices. I just have a easier time justifying sacring a warden than bringing a god child to the world for unknown reasons.

LOL everyone who chose sacrifice died for nothing. Choose DR. You get a way better scene with Flemeth and your Warden and Alistair or Loghain get to live with the choice not backfiring.
One day I'll have the courage to try the sacrifice way in DA:O as a noble dwarf.

I had romanced Morrigan so it was an easy choice: Dark Ritual, glory, Commander of the Grey Warden of Ferelden, a nice family. Just don't go around searching cures for the Blight without telling Morrigan, or she'll be pretty pissed off.

Neither
The Redemption ending seem to be the less reckless of the options presented in DAO.

My warden was a human rogue. She was queen of fracking Ferelden. She had responsibilities, and had to keep Alistair in line. So Alistair does the dark ritual with Morrigan. Heir to the throne. So what? I don't see a downside, here.
I sacrificed once. It felt... dead. So never again.

There was no hesitation, Dark Ritual as always. I don´t want to die saving the world. I want to live in that saved world. Besides, I always hook up with Morrigan so there is nothing to decide either.

Well, had Origins stayed a stand alone game with no sequels, then the US ending was the better and more dramatic ending I think. Especially with a romanced Alistair jumping in unexpectedly at the last minute, after you've decided to do it. I remember the first time I saw that ending, and it was...wow. But, I think, in the context of the lore now, and the characterization it led to with Morrigan/Flemeth, the DR turned out to be the more interesting choice. So I'll stick with that ending as my canon....Morrigan is just much more interesting in DAI with Kieran/OGB, I think. Solas casts doubt on the Warden's methods, and the idea of our Warden surviving and actively seeking a cure leads to new possibilities for the story.

I like the tragic, gritty endings myself Only reason my Warden did the dark ritual with Morrigan was because I needed him to be alive for the Awakening expansion...Now I just pretend it's because he loved Leliana too much and couldn't leave her alone.

Always choose the ritual . Its Alistair who will sleep with Morrigan not meh ![]()
Beside..screwing the whole 'In duty sacrifice' of the warden is a Plus...

Honestly, Ultimate Sacrifice really suits the dwarf noble I think. They had to kill their brother, were betrayed by another brother, stripped of their caste, and exiled too the deep roads. If they do ultimate sacrifice they regain their caste, and become a paragon.(even if they sided with blhen).
So defiantly do it, at least once.

Dark Ritual, easy choice.
Get laid. Have magical son. Cure Calling. No drawbacks whatsoever apparent. Really no reason not to.
It's a win-win for whoever's involved.

Dark Ritual all day everyday from now on.
My first playthrough with Origins was quite a mess lol
Romanced Leliana, kept Loghain in the Wardens, Alistair became a drunk, became King alongside Anora, did the dark ritual.
My first Warden got around
But I guess on some future playthroughs, if I'm not in a romance in Morrigan, I just chuck Alistair at her. I mean, he deserves to get laid the night before the battle, its the least I could do.

I ended up going with Loghain Sacrifice. To me its a fitting end for a character like Loghain. The whole Dark Ritual just seems like way to much like a gamble.
Ill just keep Loghain alive in an alternate playthrough were all my characters are either machiavellian tyrants or templar fanatics.
It was a tough choice though. Loghains storyarch in Inquisition is so MUCH more rewarding than Stroud/alistair.
I just love that the most vilified Grey Warden in Thedas end up being more competent than his peers by not falling for Corypheus bluff, while at the same time becoming Wardencommander of Orlais. I just love the irony of the whole situation.

My Cousland had her boyfriend Alistair have Morrigan's smoke baby so that they could be together forever and he could be king. Easy peasy mac and cheesy.
Realistically, I don't think I could have MY boyfriend have sex with another woman but hard times call for hard choices. And I didn't want Elissa to die, or to have Alistair die. And I really didn't want Anora on the throne. Loghain was a non-factor since I really disliked him and killed him off.

Pretty much this at least for some of my Wardens. I looked at it more along the lines of I don't know that I could have sex with some man I hated in order to stay alive. But who knows.
I dislike the DR a lot, and I did do the sacrifice more than once, but I don't want all of my wardens or Alistair to die, so DR was an option I used more than once. I also married Alistair off to Anora a few times; had Loghain die a few times and once or twice had Loghain do the DR.
My wardens did everything - dying; marrying Alistair; being his mistress with Anora as queen (once); letting Alistair and Anora have a good chance at reasonable happiness; giving Anora the throne while my Warden and Alista when their own way; made Alistair king and ran off with Zev after the battle. One thing I enjoyed about DAO was the many different options I had for the endings.

Always sacrifice. It's more tragic and bittersweet. Beside Fan'Harel has the OGB soul otherwise.

Wardens do whatever is required to defeat the Blight, and my Mary-Sue Warden powers will be needed to cure the Calling. That being said, when the options are literally **** or die, it's a pretty easy choice, surprisingly enough.

My wardens all depended on their playthrough to be honest.
My male Cousland romanced Morrigan so it was no big deal (although I have two saves where they didn't do the Dark Ritual but she still has the child - Alistair dies/Warden dies)
My Female Cousland romanced Alistair so he did the Dark Ritual (I have saves where they don't do the dark ritual, King & Queen, Grey Wardens)
My Female Mahariel refuses the Dark Ritual because she was in love with Tamlen and with that loss - she pretty much though screw it, I'm not sticking around. - Alistair is King.
My Male Mahariel romanced Zevran and refused the Dark Ritual - Alistair dies.
My Female Amell refuses the Dark Ritual and dies
My Female Surana romanced Leliana and refused the Dark Ritual - Alistair dies
My Female Tabris refused the Dark Ritual and Alistair dies
My Male Brosca accepted the Dark Ritual because hey - he wanted to carry on his line.
My Female Aeducan refused the Dark Ritual and she dies, wanting to bring some honour back to her family since her brother was King (she left him a warning too)
Although I am curious to how the Old God Soul is going to work out now since Flemeth (apparently) took it so it should be interesting.
